He’s highly intelligent and loves reading/learning new languages. His family moved to San Diego for a few years and Hongseok did go to school during his time there, hence why he’s fluent in English. Once he got to his high school years he moved to Singapore and then later moved to Beijing and learned mandarin and got accepted to really good schools and universities. He was going to a highly acclaimed business and economics university in Beijing..one of the hardest universities to get in, but he chose to follow his dreams to becoming a singer. He auditioned for JYP and actually was in a modeling batch alongside other idols, but didn’t make the cut to be signed in JYP. Then he auditioned through a singing competition for YG/Mix & Match and got through. He was the last contestant to join the survival show and unfortunately got the “evil edit”. However, he proved his honey smooth vocals and his unique charming personality towards the end of the show. Even though, he started receiving love near the end...it wasn’t enough cuz those who started to realize how lovely Hongseok is..didn’t vote for him..and he didn’t make the cut to be in IKON. That’s how he ended up in CUBE and had to go through PENTAGON MAKER, but it was different this time around. He became the 2nd confirmed member of Pentagon right away through online votes. He worked hard on his dancing as well as stage presence and it significantly shows. His confidence!!! He’s always such a dork on stage when it calls for it, but he really did come a long way. 😍😍
