I'd like to sum up some questions we all have. 1) Can you use your cell phone in tandem with OEM features like entune system IF we wanted to? 2) Will the screen go black just like the phone when locked? 3) Will Entune lock me out if I'm trying to watch Movies, Videos, etc. while mirroring? 4) After installing this wiring kit will it effect the OEM navigation functions? 5) Will ANYTHING OEM be affected if Im not using mirroring mode on my phone? 6) WIll all OEM features still be available for use even with this harness? 7) Does the video and navigation at the same time only work on certain vehicles or will it work on all? 2018 4Runner owner.
1. Think of the phone mirroring mode as a separate source item in your radio. Just as Radio cannot be used in tandem with Bluetooth music at the same time, you will not be able to use Smartphone Mirroring mode in tandem with other source items. 2. Yes, the screen will go black when the phone is locked. Some apps may benefit with the use of Apple's Airplay and will continue to play even when the phone is locked. 3. Entune will not lock you out if you are trying to watch movies or videos as the kit comes with video in motion device. 4. The kit will not have any effect on the OEM Navigation Functions. 5. Nothing OEM will be affected . 6. One OEM feature you will lose is your 3.5mm Aux input. 7. Video and navigation at the same time will work on all vehicles. It's the matter of if your phone is able to multi-task, and all current phones are able to handle that.
Can you confirm how this connection affects Bluetooth on a USB C android phone? Do microphone and audio signals travel over the cable if Bluetooth is disconnected?
Microphone for calls will act normal but your phone has to be connected to vehicle via bluetooth. Yes, if bluetooth is disconnected microphone and audio signals travel via aux
Since the answer is no, I see no real benefit besides maybe using waze or other navi’s from your phone but my 4runner has the Toyota Navi in it which works fine for me and I keep the waze on my phone just in case there are short cuts the Toyota gps doesn’t always show but everything else I wouldn’t need to mirror anything else from my phone to the truck display.

In order to listen to Sirius radio while phone is being mirrored, you will need to download the Sirius application on your phone. Unfortunately, both phone mirroring and Sirius radio from the car will not be able to be used together.

The phone can only be manipulated via phone itself.
