    Listen im just gonna say it. Low income people. I've always felt this way and i would be considered low income as well because i am below poverty line. Just because your not made of money doesn't mean you cant be clean. Its free to be clean and respectful to your home, your neighborhood and your car etc. I never understood why people dont respect where they live . That goes for landlords as well they need to be better at respecting what they own instead of letting it be a shit hole. Glad to see you back!!!!!

      The city should install bolted down trashcans along the streets. Vandalism and littering should be taken more seriously with the law. They could also add smooth gutters to the side of the granite curbs, kind of like how curbs are made outside of New england, it'll help water and debris flow better to the drains and it'll also help a little bit with the roads condition. Also this is a bit irrelevant but the city should also own and replace the asphalt sidewalks with concrete and/or brick, as they're cooler in temperature during the hot months.

      @silentvega2004 The problem is we get harsh winters , brick and concrete will just move and crack as the ground freezes and swells .
      The city needs to impose harsh fines to derelict landlords as money talks.
      But in general people are just lazy and don't give a crap .

      @@manchesterexplorer8519 well I mean it depends on how those sidewalks are installed, because in the northern midwest states they have concrete and they seem to last and hold up. And their winters are brutal. I wonder if those new heated concrete sidewalks up in Berlin NH are holding up

      @@manchesterexplorer8519 ...That of course also depends on how well they do with snow removal in the midwest, lots of their cities have sections that look like warzones, wastelands, because of abandonment and neglect

    Hurrah for your channel which questions many issues in my mind! Moved here 3 yrs ago. I hope links to the programs make it to Mayor Ruias & also the "responsible" departments to enlighten them to hopefully start focusing on some of these issues. Thanks for what you do.

    I cannot stand all the litter in the city! I am praying Mayor Ruais will clean up everything. But we need to ensure that those who live here appreciate all Manchester offers. From a lifelong Manchester resident. Love your videos

      The problem is the slumlords and the crappy residents who don't care about anything. There's not much the mayor can do; I suppose he could start imposing heavy fines on unkempt properties for a start.
      All these slumlords care about is money , they let anybody move in . But If heavy fines are imposed, and I mean heavy " not just $300" the slumlords may start to take care of properties as all they care about is money.
      When you have run down neighborhoods , these neighborhoods don't exactly attract the best people.Just because people are low income , doesn't give them the excuse to trash everything but unfortunately that's how many of them think. Low income to me translates too "laziness" as all the litter on the sidewalks and yards proves this as it's not that hard to find a trash can.

    I'm 57 and from here. When I was a kid litter was also a problem. Then they started running anti-littering ads on T.V. Some of you will remember the Indian rowing in a canoe with a tear running down his cheek. The point is that the ads worked! People stopped throwing trash out of their cars and being more consciousness of keeping our communities clean. Now we need to relearn this.

  • @sparky603

    The reason for the difference in litter, is because of the landlords in that area. One section accepts trashy people and the other does not. Trashy people litter and have no respect for anyone. Trashy people tend to be on section 8 and get their rent paid for free, last laugh on the idiot landlord, if they treat the outside like that, promise inside the apartments are trashed

      Not all the tenants are scumbags , but all it takes is a few to ruin it for everyone else. The city should enforce rigorous and heavy fines on slumlords who fail to keep their properties in good condition, as the only thing a slumlord cares about is money. When you have rundown neighborhoods, decent citizens will not move in, which eventually results in a run-down metropolis full of crime and filth.

    Love your videos. sad seeing my city turn into a dump. Not sure if maybe we were neighbors. I grew up across from your childhood house I was on first floor of 76 sullivan street. My dad was heavy set guy and they had 2 kids. I lived there entire childhood life early 1990s till 2009. I remember to sandons market then it was half sub contractors and many more businesses after that

      You missed me by about 5 years , but my grandparents were still residing on the first floor. I just emailed the mayors office with a link to this video .
      Something needs to be done , landlords need to start being held responsible to keep up properties or face fines as for now they can let a property go to hell with no consequence.
      Dirty , run down buildings don't exactly attract the best people . I try not to insult the many good people in these neighborhoods, but unfortunately, it's getting worse every year.

    Cities all over the country are like this. I lived in Manchester for 20 years, it sucked back then too. I don't think anyone here is qualified to determine a workable solution but it seems like everyone's settled on "It's poor people's fault."

    • @manchesterexplorer8519
      @manchesterexplorer8519  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @daniell8387 It's the uneducated, the drug addicts , and lazy people as money shouldn't have anything to do with self pride . My neighborhood , which is also around tenant buildings just a few blocks away, doesn't look like this . The area that I live in isn't owned by slumlords that rent out to anybody as it's still holding on.
      The street I showed in this video depicting the heavy litter was not like that during the 1980's . Most of the properties were also kept up.

      @daniell8387 This video here , shows a small grocery store on the same littered street that I videoed. The video perfectly depicts the 1980's as the type of community that used to reside here was the complete opposite of what's there now. th-cam.com/video/KioH6zS2Fgc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=EVTaXl2Aa8vQiyki

    Could the city start a program for the homeless to clean up litter where they'd be compensated in some way rather than having to beg on the streets? Might raise their self esteem a bit too.

    What percentage of Manchester is section 8?

    • @manchesterexplorer8519
      @manchesterexplorer8519  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm not sure , but the problem is that section 8 can grant a landlord $2000+ per month in many cases. As its very enticing to greedy landlords that don't give a crap.
      Although that's just part of the problem as theres no excuse for people to not pick up after themselves.

      I think you need to run for mayor ❤️

    • @manchesterexplorer8519
      @manchesterexplorer8519  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @parryhouse I will be getting involved , as I will be attending the Rimmon Heights community meetings that are held at Chez Vachon's every 3 weeks . My goal is to bring up imposing heavy fines to all these slumlords who don't take care of their properties as the only thing they care about is money.
      These tenant buildings earn on average r$5500-$10,000 per month, depending on the number of units, thus slumlords can easily afford to keep the structures in top condition. The majority of these investors don't even live within the city as they don't care about anything other than themselves and money to feed their insecurities.
      Cleaning up the neighborhoods could spark a movement to revitalize the city, as respectable people will not move into into a dump. I hate to say this , but when neighborhoods deteriorate, low lifes move in , which unfortunately results in increased crime rates and drug use, which ruins it for the many decent people that reside here.
      My lack of credentials and history would not be acceptable in this day and age if running for mayor.
