I found her on a search too.
      Miss Pavenski's Circus !!
To make a long story short back in my younger years when I was a student it was the cartoons on television that was beating the teachers and today in my adult years as a stay at home son it is the teachers beating some of the stuff that's on television.
Thank God for that hour on MeTV ( Toon In With Me ) Otherwise I need all of those old vlogs of hers to watch on repeat particularly those where things went off the chain in her classroom to fill my empty cup everyday because a lot of today's television content has ran me to migrate to PBS.
If I am going to be reduced to having dominantly educational programming over the laughs on television then at least I'd like to see more REAL EDUCATORS on television and let them make some sort of a profit from it because they seem to be the only ones who can do what they do without getting censored or anyone complaining against them.

So good to see you again! I know going in early is so much easier so that sucks for you. Regardless I hope you have a smooth year.

I've watched most of your videos so if I missed it I'm sorry! But can you please explain your specials/planning periods? Am I right in understanding you only get planning once per week? I'd love to hear more about that. Loveeeeee your videos 🥰

    • @PuttingFourthEffort
      @PuttingFourthEffort  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Thank you so so much for your support! We basically end up having a planning day. The kids go to their specials rotations in one block of time. So last year it was spread into two days: Tuesdays from 8:15-9:40 (This is when we would have PLC and then a short time in our rooms) and Fridays from 8:15-11:10 (This is when we would do our planning and have prep time in our rooms). The rest of the week we have the kids full time...no breaks. I have a love hate relationship with it.

    Breana,
Major props to you for making something out of nothing.
I do not know what the big deal is with your school keeping you out of your classroom like that when you the teacher(s) are trying to prep back up for the new school year.
Meanwhile you look beautiful in your green dressy outfit.
I like your meet the teacher thing too.
Keep on handling it like a champ.

My school uses Letter Land! Most of the stories are good, but some of the diphthong stories are confusing for students. If you pair it with Secret Stories, it is a GAME CHANGER.
Third graders think some of the songs are a bit cheesy, but if you're mainly working with the 3rd grade curriculum, there's not as many mentions of the songs or Letter Land characters
It includes a suggested scope and sequence (Live Reading gets to be a little cheesy for 3rd grade after December). I do:
Day 1: Introduce skill and do word detectives
Day 2: Review current spelling pattern and Live Reading
Day 3: Guess Who (show grapheme cards and students say the sound) and Live Spelling
DAY 4: Review current spelling pattern and play game
Day 5: Spelling Test (play game, if time)

@@PuttingFourthEffort No problem! Also - a warning; in both 2020 and 2021 school years, our 3rd graders were behind on some 2nd grade phonics skills. We tried the 3rd grade book for about 3 weeks and then gave up. For the first quarter to half of the school year, we used the 2nd grade book for most of our students (the 2nd grade teachers had to use the 1st grade book for around the same amount of time with most of their students). We returned to the 3rd grade book for most of our students (in the 2020 school year) in January/February.
One thing our 1st and 2nd grade teams do is give the students the reading/spelling placement tests in the back of the book every quarter. Then during Letterland time, students are grouped with teachers teaching them what they actually need (instead of teaching vowel teams to kids who are ready for prefixes and suffixes, for example). This is the BEST way to implement the program, in my opinion, after 6 years using it....but you do you!!
My school ordered each K-2 teacher in our building a set of Letterland decodables (and one set to share between 3rd grade teachers and one for 4th). These might be good for small group with your below grade-level 3rd graders, unless you have a system that already works (Droppin' Knowledge with Heidi and Hello Literacy have some amazing ones, as well, on TPT).
