I feel like many of the Bully feats you covered are in fact tied to either the Fencer or the Big Weapon builds with their requirements, since many require having a hand free or wielding a two handed weapon. The fun thing with PF2 is that even these general builds you described aren't even that rigid, and you can very easily combine stuff to have some kind of Archer / Fencer, a Two-Hander/ Bully, or a Two-weapon/Sword and Board (using a shield boss and a short sword for instance).

I have a 7th level well-spring gnome with the glass shield Cantrip and duelist dedication….he attacks at reach with a gnome Flickmace and uses the knockdown feat to trip opponents….defensively he uses glass shield until it’s broken, then switches to dueling parry. This is in addition to his “unexpected shift” gnome ancestry feat, which grants a 25% chance to enjoy DR 7, which will go up to a 50% chance for DR 9 at 9th level.
He’s also specialized in mobility with quick jump and wall jump and Rapid Mantel. Hard to catch, hard to hit, and does nice damage from reach with a penchant for tripping.
Baddies often have to use an action to get up (Attack of Opportunity), move to attack and then hope the one attack hits. Even if it does it’s likely to be at least partially resisted, especially early in fights.
    Love the PF2 fighters!

Missed the single most coolest fighter build! The two-hand free-hand fighter. It is honestly just a high ceiling blend of your categorized fencer, bully, dual weapon, great weapon categories that can do all of them at once or switch between them with a single interact action. Typically the build involves a two-hand trait weapon (generally a bastard sword or Hooked hammer if you wanna be super optimal hahaha) and a gauntlet/free-hand weapon. This build allows you to play around with some incredible versatility enjoying the benefits from dual handed assault's massive damage bonus (attacking with the die of a two handed weapon while keeping a free hand plus bonus damage) using dual slice with a gauntlet for high consistent damage and potential crippling crit fishing effects (hooked hammer and gauntlet assailing you at the same time with full fighter accuracy is bound to score nasty crit specialization effects), last but not least, doing all of this while keeping a free hand to grapple, trip and shove to your hearts content with the athletic's skill and assist with any potions or doors that need opening/closing!
All in all, a very advanced build for players who have mastered every aspect of the fighter and simply want to adapt on the fly to any situation the battlefield demands.

I started building a fighter recently (group playing Ages of Ashes, originally playing a dragon instinct Barbarian but she killed the dragon she hated so she “lost” her rage/rage powers) at level 15. I was the main damage dealer, but now I’m kinda trading elemental fixed damage for more dice (which is kinda nice cause everything was resistant/immune to fire).
The build I am going for is bully/Great Weapon fighter hybrid. Intimidation class and skill feats, furious focus (which gives flat footed on AoO which is helpful for my ranger), knock down, power attack and the like.
What I feel like you should have mentioned is that Combat Flexibility and Improved Flexibility Class Features are a thing. That at level 9, you can take a level 8 or lower fighter feat, and at 15 you can take a 14 or lower fighter feat (including ones with a prerequisite feat that combat flexibility filled). With these, you can take the class feats integral to your build identity and then take an extra two to diversify your options.
(If you said this and I missed it tho, I’m sorry. Love your content as always and thanks for introducing Deadly D8! The channel seems fun and I expect a ton outta of them!)

Grabbing a "Bully" feat or two sounds like fun on a polearm based fighter. Knockdown/Trip into brutish shove means that anyone who doesn't have reach is going to eat an Attack of Opportunity from you pretty much no matter what. AND you still have a respectable d10 damage die if you just want to kill something and make it dead.

With a Bully Fighter you really want something like Meteor Hammer. Reach Trip is a great way to screw up an enemy's action economy. Trip 'em from 10' then safely swing at them while they're flat footed. Then on their turn they have to stand up triggering AoO (which might put them back on the ground if you crit), move to you if they don't have reach, and then with their third action they can attack if you didn't crit them with the AoO.

I've been tossing around playing a fighter next time I get to play. But, I'm torn between a straight up fighter and a Druid Fighter. We usually do Dual Class PCs because we have a small table, so I get to have 2 full classes most of the time. I see a lot of interesting combinations being a Bully Crocagator Lizardfolk, which could just be fun. Alternatively, I feel like nobody ever uses the Flail class of weapons, so using one of those and doing a Sword and Shield/Bully could be great too. Not sure what I'd do alongside that, but if I wanted to be a master at blocking things, I could see Champion or perhaps even an Inventor with some sweet armor or a fancy weapon.

I wasn't that interested in the Fighter until the Guns and Gears playtest. I think the Inventor makes for an interesting combos with the Fighter. My first thought for the Inventor was a Green Arrow type character who uses a bow Innovation and fighter bow feats. Later I though it would be cool to try and mix the dual weapon fighter with a fencer fighter and baseline only gauntlets allow for that, but weapon innovation Inventors can get Integrated Gauntlet at level 9 which opens up some silly combinations (especial when combined with all the other modifications).

Wait..... Seriously the game demand from you to use action to just PUT THE FU..ING HAND ON THE WEAPON ?????
Especially on the guy like fighter ? The only guy who can be called the master of weapons.
Well what can I say " Homebrewing is coming ".

Do you need to spend an action to put a hand back on? I've never seen that rule and can't find it.

      @JackdawLT 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@Jacob-dl7bw It is on page 272 in the core rulebook table 6-2: changing equipment. Changing your grip by adding a hand to an item is an interact action, so costs an action, while removing doesn't since it is a release. Both require two hands. I could be misunderstanding it though.

@@ZMSKfullpower tbh in my game we don't bother with the action to put a hand back on either. But rules as written you do

Currently, I'm playing an Ysoki Thief with the field medic background. He's a combat medic who had to turn to a life of thieving, patching up criminals and mercenary work after the Goblin Blood Wars. He's pretty fun to play with the battle medicine skill feat and twin feint. He's loosely based on Usopp from One Piece. Tells a lot of tall tales. It's fun to roleplay. We've been having trouble in the campaign with getting downed quite often and still learning the system. We almost got TPK'd by a freakin' wild boar...smh. I've since drawn up a Dhampir Fighter/ Barbarian with the fangs ancestry trait. Big emphasis on using his fangs to grapple and as a weapon. when things go real south, he has a katana with Power Attack and a longbow for range.
Any sugesstions as Dhampir is hard on healing? We only have a cleric for that.

Dhampirs, 99% of the time, are like thier "sire" in that they need blood to survive. (Think Blade) if your PC is strong enough, he could theoretically grapple, next turn continue the grapple and bite into them somewhere and get healed a certain amount. I recommend a Monk/Barbarian. Combine the monk's skill with the barbarian rage and it could get really interesting really fast.

Would throwing a weapon pull you out of point blank stance, since you wouldn't be weilding a ranged weapon after its leaves your hand?

I have a Lvl 8 half-elf fighter / beast master (bird). I have 30ft of movement with full plate. In a round I can apply bleed, dazzled, and Trip in one round. Then Fear and flatfoot in next round.

I have to beg to differ with you when it comes to drinking potions with the two-handed sword or ox…Haven’t you ever heard of the idea of letting go of the handle with one hand grabbing your potion off of a potion belt holding the cork with your teeth and drinking the potion? It’s easily done

  • @GearyDigit

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't taking your second hand off and putting your second hand on a weapon your main hand is holding a free action/not an action? GWF can't use feats that require attacking with a hand free, but they can still retrieve and drink potions and such, right?

I think you misread Guardian's Deflection @ minute 5:20. It is NOT a sword & shield feat, but rather a fencer feat.
*Requirements:* You are wielding a single one-handed melee *weapon* and have your *other hand or hands free.*
*Description:* You use your *weapon* to deflect the attack against your ally [...]
    Other than that, good video!

Unfortunately Guardian's Deflection is actually a fencer feat, not usable with sword and shield; you need one melee weapon and your other hands free. Though I suppose this might work with a buckler, or if for some reason you only have your shield drawn and not your weapon.
