    I agree w this review.
    I purchased a HomePod mini which I though sounded pretty good (esp for what it is/does). Later I got a Denon 150 off their referb site and it sounds fantastic. The HomePod mini works better for apple handoff but other than the apple stuff the sound isn’t as good. The Denon can fill a space (master bedroom) w/ a sound far bigger than its footprint. Unfortunately my Roku in same space doesn’t stream audio via BT but if I could stream to the Denon and bypass the TV’s built in I’ll be stoked. I’d call it a satisfying single speaker for spaces outside a receiver setup.

    If you love music and like warm and slightly unnatural colored sound, the Denon Home 150 can be recommended. If you plan to use this to listen to radio via a mobile device, you should steer clear. That fate shares it with many other bluethoot speakers. It certainly does not fit. The sound sounds stuffy, heavy and boxy, it is difficult to perceive ordinary speech. A trick can help something. Use a simple radio, and connect it via Jack-plug via the headset output and the radio sound will be quite good.

    I have Amazon Prime music to stream should I want it, but I’m a dinosaur that still prefers physical media. I have about 800 CDs ripped in iTunes on my new iPhone 13 Pro, and this speaker looks to be the perfect replacement for my Bose sound dock that just died. I can just pair it directly via Bluetooth, and play songs directly from my iPhone player.
    Thank you for the review. It’s helped me to make my buying decision.

      I think the sound quality is quite comparable between the two. The main decision is which eco system you want to buy into. I don't think you can go wrong with either, but there can potentially be a bigger picture, based on your setup. For me, it's the eco system of Denon, and I'm still very happy with the product. I'll be buying and receiving more soon. Sonos as well.

    Did you find it problematic that the AC cable juts way out past being flush with the wall mount hardware? Looks like you might have to have it sticking out from the wall a bit.

    Hi, thanks for this review. I have a Sonos setup at home but I'm considering changing to Denon HEOS. I have a couple of questions, I was hoping you could help me out as I don't seem to find a clear answer.
    I noticed you have a Denon AVR receiver, does this receiver switch on automatically when you use select music from your phone? IE, does your AV amp behave like a heos speaker? I don't want to walk over to the av amp, switch it on, select the HEOS input source....
    Can you use the bluetooth function in the Heos Home 150 without your home wifi network and use it as 'regular' bluetooth speaker. I was thinking of taking one to camp site for example where I can enjoy music via bluetooth from my phone, but without the presence of a wifi network

    • @EverythingPractical
      @EverythingPractical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, good questions.
      When you start music and have a Denon AVR, the music does not automatically turn on the receiver. However, in the heos app, you can turn on the receiver remotely through the app (if connected to wifi).
      The speakers work perfect with Bluetooth, so wifi is not required for those camping trip, provided you have a power supply. Unfortunately you dont have the option for a battery pack like the older version.
      Hope this helps, let me know if you still have questions.

    • @demarestk

      @@EverythingPractical Thank you very much for your answers. Yes I'm aware that you do need connect the Home 150 to an outlet and does not come with a battery.
      Can you change the volume on the AV amp with the heos app?

    • @EverythingPractical
      @EverythingPractical  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem 😀
      Yes, you can change the volume of the speakers through the app, as well as set different volumes for each speaker/AVR in the app. You can also group to play the same music, or have different groups playing different music. Or watching TV through the AVR, and music on the speakers. The sky is almost the limit. I'm very happy with the heos system and denon products and will stay with them.

    Hi, I'm trying to pair 2 of these via bluetooth, (since I can't use my phone as an audio source in wif-fi mode for some goddamn reason) but it doesn't seem to want to pair via bluetooth when they are already paired via wi-fi (awful software design, if you ask me), and when trying to pair them via bluetooth only, I can only get one working at a time even when they are both paired to the same device at the same time (I tested on both an Android and iPhone), I've been trying to 4 hours now and I'm ready to throw them in the garbage if I can't get this to work.

    • @EverythingPractical
      @EverythingPractical  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sorry to hear the frustration..
      If you switch to Bluetooth on the device, wifi shouldn't interfere, even though still "connected".
      I do not know if you can work both speakers together with Bluetooth.
      Also, you can try unplugging the speakers and plugging them back in. Also, the same with the wifi router/modem.
      Best bet is to get the Wi-Fi steaming working.

    • @BxPanda7
      @BxPanda7 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@EverythingPractical The problem is that with wi-fi I cannot open another app like youtube and have the music stream to the speakers, and that's where I have all my playlists, I don't use any other streaming services.
      The other problem is that when they are paired via wi-fi, they straight up refuse to connect via bluetooth, so I don't know what to do.

    • @EverythingPractical
      @EverythingPractical  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ahh, I see. As far as I know, unfortunately TH-cam doesn't allow wifi streaming to multiple speakers. Not just to Denon/Heos, but any devices... you would need to use a Wi-Fi streaming service like Spotify, Napster, Airplay Tidal, etc to have this work. It is not a fault of the speakers but of TH-cam. Therefore, changing speakers also wouldn't solve the issue..

    I would love to love this speaker. Nice sound, decent looks, and modularity.
    However, as a standalone Bluetooth speaker, it is extremely poor. The Heos app doesn't really provide me with the channels I need so often I connect the speaker directly to my phone or pc. It connects after rebooting (reconnecting the cable and pressing the bt button) but it is very unstable/erratic. I see no rhyme or reason for the connectivity. Today I've spent good 15 minutes fighting with it - just an awful way to start your workday.
    It puzzles me how can BT connection with this device be so otherworldly bad after having used BT throughout my life with various devices and never really worrying about a thing. Interested to know if I'm alone with this issue, anyone? If you're looking for a modular speaker that can adapt to your changing needs e.g. build up a bigger system later on this should be a good choice. Run away, in case you want to use this as a simple standalone BT speaker.

      I have not experienced these issues.
      Which "channels" are you referring to?
      Are you using this over wifi?
      I agree to connect to Bluetooth every time is a bit annoying (as it would be regardless of the speaker), but I have not had any issues with Bluetooth with this speaker either. Did you try setting a quick connect with the channels on top to Bluetooth? My connects like this with no issue.
