- 약소민족의 상징인 쿠르드족. 독자적인 언어와 문화, 역사를 갖고 있지만, 독립국가의 꿈은 아직 이루지 못했습니다. 이들은 누구이고 터키는 왜 이들을 공격했을까요? 한겨레 정의길 기자가 명쾌하게 설명해드립니다. 영상으로 확인하시죠.
쿠르드족과 미국은 오랫동안 동맹관계를 맺어왔습니다. 이슬람국가(IS) 격퇴를 위해 함께 피 흘리며 싸운 역사가 있습니다. 미국의 또 다른 동맹국 터키가 예전부터 쿠르드족을 공격하겠다고 공언해왔지만, 시리아 주둔 미군이 아슬아슬하게 방패막이 역할을 해왔습니다.
그런데 지난 6일 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령과 에르도안 터키 대통령의 전화통화 직후 상황은 급변했습니다. 트럼프 대통령이 미군의 시리아 철군을 전격적으로 발표하자, 에르도안 대통령은 곧바로 시리아를 겨냥한 군사작전을 시행하겠다고 선포했습니다.
이후 지난 9일 터키는 결구 ’평화의 샘’이라는 작전명으로 시리아 북동부에 군사작전을 개시했습니다. 그곳에 거주하는 쿠르드족을 몰아내기 위한 대대적인 조치를 감행한 것입니다. 미군이 철수한 직후였으니 쿠르드족은 사실상 미국에 일방적인 ‘토사구팽’을 당한 셈입니다. 이후 미국은 자국 우선주의로 혈맹을 배신했다는 국제 사회의 거센 비판을 받았습니다.
미국은 이러한 비판을 의식했는지 터키와 협상에 나섰고 결국, 양국은 군사작전을 개시한 지 8일 만에 5일간의 '조건부 휴전' 합의를 이뤄냈습니다.
이번 공격으로 수백명의 쿠르드족이 죽거나 다쳤습니다.

What are you talking about killing the Kurds? There is no Turkish-Kurdish distinction in our country.
There are many ethnic origin in Turkey and none of the distinction is not made. Turkey is helping many countries.
Just like helping Korea on time. The Turks did the biggest help in the Korean war. How can you deny it? Even history has written this.

Honestly, No we don't know. The name 'Krud' is very new thing for Koreans and I guess only few Koreans do takes interest about it. In general, Koreans has very limited understanding about Arabic and middle east region history. The reason people tend to favor Krud side story (I guess this is the reason why you sound upset) is simply it reminds our history which I guess you have limited understand as well. Korea has 36 yrs of colonization history from Japan and many had independent movement which could be seems terrorism to Japanese people.
Not knowing Krud's terrorism to good Turkish people, and hering about short story about Krud civilians got officially attacked by military for independent movement, people naturally think about our history and thats about it.
Please don't get angry it is simply baes on lack of knowledge and understanding bigger picture.
What we need is more information.
And Generally, Koreans do appreciate to Turkish people and consider it as 'brother country'
The turkish army has killed thousands of our children, women and men. We kurds have suffered more of turks than turks from kurds. Öksökö Then you’re straight up lying and denying documented history. Kurds are native to kurdistan, which eastern anatolia is a part of. Turks came to anatolia about 800 years ago. The amcestors of the Kurds (Medes, Gutis, Carduchis etc.) came from iran 2600 years ago. That’s quite a difference.
When our ancestors left Iran, we weren’t Kurds yet. Kurds as a people and their culture was formed in Kurdistan, not in Iran.

First of all, as a Kurd living in Turkey, I should summarize the event, I saw it as so ignorant in the comments. (From the Turks who think they are perfect, the Kurds who don't know what they are)
You won't find much racism against the Kurds living in Turkey right now, right NOW, Turks and Kurds generally get along well, BUT this is due to the fact that most Kurds are now Turkified. If you live in Turkey as a Kurd, you have 2 options.
1- Either you forget your race and live as a Turk and die for this country and become a "Martyr"
or

우린 몇천년 살아온 땅이 있었으니 독립이 비교적 쉬웠지만 땅이 없는 투르크가 이스라엘 처럼 나라를 얻을려면 전쟁 밖에 없긴 하네요.

한국전쟁에 강제 파병되어서 왔던 터키인들은 터키내에 있던 소수 쿠르드족이었습니다.
터키의 투르크족은 일본을 형제라고 생각하며 한국은 하찮게 여깁니다.
이 아저씨가 거짓말을 잘 했나 봅니다.
터키에서 사회학 대학원 하는 중이고 이쪽 역사에 대해서는 학부수준으로 아는 수준이지만, 지적해야 할 부분이 있어서 요청하고자 함.
1. '쿠르드'라는 개념 자체가 원래 '산에 사는 민족들'이라는 의미임. 기본적으로 언어는 인도유럽어족 이란어파에 속하는 언어를 사용하긴 하는데 표준화된 언어가 없기 때문에 똑같은 쿠르드들끼리도 말이 잘 안 통함. 터키 내 쿠르드들을 예를 들자면 가장 서쪽의 아드야만의 쿠르드족과 가장 동쪽의 반, 카르스 일대의 쿠르드족은 지네말로 하면 거의 말이 안 통하기 때문에 터키어로 소통하는 판임.
2. 이 '쿠르드'들은 역사상 단 한번도 독립국가를 가져본 적이 없음. 기본적으로 부족으로 나뉘어진 사회이고 - 이건 국민국가의 형성이 매우 늦은 중동지역의 오랜 특성이기도 함. 당장 시리아, 이라크, 예멘만 해도 부족주의가 내전에 엄청 기여함 - 부족들 간의 갈등도 심함. 전라도 경상도 따윈 아무것도 아닐 정도로 과거 1950-60년대 터키 정부가 동부지역에 대한 영향력이 별로 없던 시절에는 지들끼리 총들고 레이드하고 그러던 시절이 있었음.
3. 오스만 제국 당시 쿠르드 부족들은 페르시아와의 전쟁에 대비하기 위해 이들의 군사력이 필요했고, 쿠르드 부족들은 중앙에 할당된 세금만 납부하면 오케이로 사실상 군사권, 사법권, 세금징수권까지 모두 가지고 있는 사실상 반 독립국 상태였음. 같은 오스만 제국 소속이면서도 지들끼리도 치고박고 싸웠을 정도로. 물론 오스만 제국의 크기가 크기이다 보니 그쪽 마을 하나하나까지 일일이 통제한다는건 불가능에 가깝기 때문에 어쩔 수 없는 일이지만. 하지만 공화국 시기에 들어 중앙집권화가 이루어졌고, 쿠르드 부족들 입장에서도 자꾸만 오스만 제국 시절 누리던 이권을 뺏어가려 하니 중앙정부와 사이가 나빠짐. 1925년 디야르바크르에서 일어난 셰이흐 사이드의 난은 명목상 오스만 제국 회복을 명분으로 건 반란이었지만 사실상 쿠르드 부족들의 자치권을 주장하는 반란이었으며, 웃기게도 이들을 진압한것도 반란군에 선 쿠르드부족과 적대적인 다른 쿠르드 부족임. 1938년 데르심 지역의 반란의 이유도 비슷함.
4. 1960년대까지 터키 남동부, 동부지역은 과거의 대지주제가 존재했음. 1970년대 터키 영화의 주된 소재가 이 대지주제 밑에서 신음하는 민중들을 다룰 정도. 이 지주들은 대부분 과거 쿠르드 부족의 장들이고, 소작민들도 토착 쿠르드인인데 이 지역에 공산주의가 유입되면서 Eşkiya (도적)이라고 말을 타고 다니며 지주들의 집을 습격해 분탕질하고 다시 말을 타고 도망가는 마적단들이 극성을 부리기 시작함. 지주들은 정부에 진압을 요청했고, 터키군은 이들을 토벌하기 시작함. 이 마적단들 가운데 PKK의 시초가 되는 조직도 있었는데, 이들은 기본적으로 극좌 모험주의자들이었기 때문에 민족독립보다는 계급투쟁에 주력했고 주된 공격대상도 관공서, 경찰, 군대, 그리고 지주들과 모스크였음.
5. 터키 내 분리주의자인 PKK가 분리독립을 명분을 내건건 극히 최근의 일임. 1980년대까지만 해도 이들은 과거 극좌 모험주의 성향을 가지고 있었으나, 1980년 케난 에브렌의 쿠데타 이후 터키 정부가 우경화되기 시작했고, 그때 반대급부로 쿠르드라는 정체성을 부각시키기 시작함.
6. PKK는 민간인도 살해하는 테러단체이고 이들이 제일 많이 분탕친 지역도 동부지역이기 때문에 정작 쿠르드인들의 PKK지지도는 높지 않음. 특히 우파성향의 쿠르드들은 앞서서 혐오하는 중.
7. 북시리아의 로자바(PYD, YPG)와 북이라크의 페슈메르가는 비슷한 시기에 일어난 비슷한 성향의 단체이며, 터키가 이들을 적대시 하는 이유는 자국 내 PKK가 근거지를 잃자 자꾸 국경을 넘어 이쪽으로 도주했다가 다시 국경을 넘어 게릴라전술을 펴기 때문임. 2019년 현재 북이라크의 페슈메르가는 PKK와 손절한 상태이기 때문에 터키와 관계가 원할한 편이나 북시리아가 문제임. 이 평화의 샘 작전(Barış pınarı harekatı) 이전에도 터키-시리아 국경지대의 마을에는 북시리아쪽에서 쏜 미사일, 저격총으로 인해 터키측 민간인 피해가 발생하고 있었고, 터키는 이를 좌시할 수 없는 상황임.

추가하면, 터키어 통번역사일 하면서 한국전쟁 참전용사들 UN묘지 안내도 하고 터키에서 살면서 참전용사분들 방문도 하고 인터뷰도 하고 했는데, 도대체 한국전쟁 참전용사 다수가 쿠르드인이라는 썰은 도대체 어디서 퍼뜨리고 다니는건지 궁금함. 당시 한국전쟁 참전을 위해 파병된 병력들 대부분은 직업군인 중에서 희망자 차출한거랑 일반 병사중에서 복무기한을 1년 줄이고 봉급 더 주는 조건(당시 터키군은 3년 복무했음)으로 희망자에 한해 차출한걸로 구성되었고 개중에 딸라좀 벌려고 열악한 동부, 중부지역에서 자원한 병력들이 많았음. 쿠르드만 골라서 뽑는다? 말이 안되는 소리임.
와 이제 좀 이해가 되네요 무지 복잡한 상황이네
@@greentree5992 추가로, 현재 터키의 출산률은 터키 전국적으로 볼땐 2명 후반대로 내려왔지만 더 자세히 보면 이스탄불, 앙카라, 이즈미르등의 대도시와 서부 터키지방은 상대적으로 출산률이 낮고 (이스탄불의 경우 심지어 1명대임) 쿠르드들이 많이 사는 남동부지방은 평균 4명 이상이라 (일부지역은 5명대도 나타남) 한 100년쯤 되면 쿠르드 인구가 터키에서 다수를 차지할지도 모른다고들 합니다. 어차피 터키 전국이 쿠르디스탄이 될탠데 골아프게 독립운동따윈 뭣하러 하냐...라고 하는 사람들도 있고 ㅋ
우리나라가 비밀리에 쿠르드족 도와줬으면 하는데 6.25때 터키군 중에 80%가 쿠르드족이었고 사망한 터기 병사중 대부분 쿠르드족이었다고 들었습니다. 정말 안타갑습니다
