Cool, I was ready to make a cider for the first time today... Just decided after watching your video to add the bourbon barrel aged. I received some wood from an bourbon barrel. Such a interesting project! Thanks for the inspiration 😁💪🏻🍻🪵🥃
Thanks Trent. I got some medium French oak chips recently. It said to put them in room temperature water for an hour before use. I put them in a mead that I am working on. We’ll see how that does. Thinking about doing a cyser next, but may be able to try this recipe.
Sounds delicious! I've been curious for a while about oaking stuff but never ventured yet. Doing it in a cider is a great idea, I might have to put that on my new years supplies list for January! :)
Very useful and well-informed video something I'm making Mango-Toffee by using oak chips! Sounds amazing combo for cider! You could also add apples as backflavoring as other way to having apple-tasting.
Great idea and excellent recipe! Trying this today. What temp did you ferment at? Seems like this should go more quickly if you fermented warm. I have a heat mat that could go around my big mouth bubbler. What are your thoughts?
Thanks for the recipe, I'm going to try this today. I have 3 gal of your boozy tea fermenting right now. Questions: how much bourbon did you end up using in your recipe? What was your OG & FG with the addition of the frozen concentrate? Thanks
Dang Trent, this was a creative cider. I’m not big on adding Liquor but I like the smokey cider idea. What you think would happen if you boiled the oak spiral in some apple juice and then throw that into the fermenter? I think I’m going to try that and see how it goes!
Did you use the whole yeast packet? I've been trying to figure out how much to use of the 11g packets for my 1 gal batches, I think the whole packet is good for 5 gal so that seems like it would be a bit overkill right?
What other cider flavor combos would be good? I need more ideas!
Three things:
1. Lime Hopped. (I'm makin it right now in fact!)
2. Lemongrass and Lemon Balm
3. Tarngine-Elderflower
Apple-Grape juice has always been tasty. So I would think an Apple cider - Grape wine would be interesting.
@@bradleybarth9939 Especially Apple with Mango!
@@aaronweyl2272That would be tasty too!
I know you are vegan, so a bacon infused cider is out. So how about smoked cider or Rauch Cider if you will.
Ashy Char is my vibe (4 life!)
😂
Looks great!!! I’ve got a beer aging on some bourbon soak oak cubes. Real looking forward to seeing how it ages! Cheer Trent 🍻
Ooh nice, tis the season for bourbon flavor!
Ooooooh this sounds great, Trent! Thanks for sharing 🍻
I have a slab of charred oak in my keg with a stout. It has been holding its own for a year now.
Dang that sounds good!
Really Enjoyed Your Video , Thanks ! 🐯🤠
Thanks TP!

Great video Tent

Can you please make a video on how to clarify cider using gelatin?? Love the channel!
I don’t use gelatin but I have a vid all about clarity! th-cam.com/video/PK33TIuM6ds/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZACMUVCJBSQeQkou
Great idea. I've thought about trying a wood aged cider. This method definitely seems faster. Great video as always
Looks amazing!
This looks so good!!!
Will definitely try this..great Vid

Same I've been wanting to give it a go and glad I did, adds a nice complexity
I have to try this sounds awesome
Very cool dude! I’ve been thinking about a bourbon stout this winter, and I think those spirals would add a nice kick. Thanks for the video! 🍻
Excellent work.

Thats a great idea, might have to try that
@@TheBruSho Cool!, you did good job making ciders with more neat ideas!
Good luck if you do!
Looks great. Will have to try!
Let me know if you do Jeffrey!

If going the bottling route, would the bourbon not kill the remaing yeast?
Depends on how much your adding but you should be ok

Woah that sounds like a cool idea! Let me know how it turns out

I did use whole packet but check a yeast pitch calculator for your specific brew
How you say Kveik? It sounds proper.
Some Norwegian fans have told me it sounds like "quake" but I've also heard other people from that area of the world say different. 🤷♂
@@TheBruSho oh that is interesting. I would saw Ka-Vike.
Braj ! How dry was that cider? Never heard of a Bourbon aged cider before.
Hydrometer read 1.000 but something about kveik makes it not taste that dry
I wonder if this would work with water kefir
Sure you could try it, might need to add something in there so its not overly bourbon-y
Perhaps blanche your oak additions briefly before adding to the bourbon tincture?
I have a challenge for you, i would love to see you brewing something without any equipment, and hops replacements and maybe instant yeast. Good luck
Sauerkraut? 😅
Haha one day you will break me
@@TheBruSho 🤣
First 🥇
Never shake dry yeast 😢 you killed them.
Shake before 😊
