The Master trainer was “WOW”. No words for his fluid movements and quickness. Especially at his age when most people can hardly move at all. So wonderful to see
Yes respect is very important. I’m also glad to see something positive about Steven Seagal. Various people say this and that about him from the past. I personally don’t care I want to live in the now Buddhist and Shaolin monks will tell you the same live in there now.
Steven obviously respects the art and the Masters but he also seems to be a perfect gentle man,,I don't think it's easy to be so tall and good at what he does,,there's always some smaller guy out there who's going to want to challenge him.Steven can stop him with as little force as necessary with this skill.

Everyone is feeling sorry for the black belt, but he's gaining more and more knowledge than anyone else. You feel it, you learn it. I've felt several of these techniques myself in training and they're no joke. I clicked here because of Okinawa and knew I'd see something. And while Seagal may be considered a joke these days, he clearly understands technique. Master Hokama is legit.
When I was a brown belt I was always pulled out by the black belts and used for demonstrations, learned how to take a punch and how to fall properly. It's all part of the training.
Seal is considered a joke because MMA community wants him to be. It is character assassination. Same like they do with Wing Chun...they want it's name dead because a real practitioner with even a few years under his belt has the skill set to beat an MMA fighter. Funny the rules in UFC huh? Put there to limit a real martial artists ability by taking away his/her best techniques.

Whether you like Segal, Sensi Hokama, or the style of martial arts, I think you have to respect anyone who dedicates their life to seeking perfection (which of course is unobtainable). Some say this is not effective in the street. Really ? I doubt that many who say that, actually want to go down that street. But, I defy anyone to find a video of ANY style or practitioner, that doesn’t get criticism. Usually by someone who lives in mommy’s house, has several old issues of Black Belt Magazine and who has dedicated their life to achieving the next level on X-Box. Or, someone who’s simply had a week of training in a “different” style.
Randy Porter i agree with you .. but most of the 'critics' of this style of martiar arts dont mean its not really effective in a street fight .. they mean its not effictive against a trained boxer , kick/thai boxer , mma and even a good street fighter ..

The knowledge dispensed here is something to cherish and behold. I have spent my entire adult life researching all martial/fighting disciplines and what is being revealed here is truly awesome! Young people are caught up in combat sports which I have trained in a lot of and they are wonderful. But as you age it is about the details behind what looks like simple techniques, yet there are great secrets behind them. This allows a much older practitioner to defend themselves successfully. Obviously an old master is not going to fight in the UFC but make no mistake you would not want to be in close proximity of this wonderful masters hands or feet. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video! I loved it!
@@baroneb5043 There is no BS here. Too bad some people and practitioners of the arts can't respect their elders who have lived a life to teach and preserve the martial arts. I have studied, practiced and sparred in most forms of empty hand combat and martial arts. There is value in everything, you just have to be opened minded enough to look. Bruce Lee, Dan Inosanto have studied damn near everything and have taken what they liked and was useful from each discipline. Just simply being tough is not martial arts. A martial artist is a person who aspires to have great character, integrity, self discipline and fighting ability. Hopefully, beyond all that they try to pass it on to future generations. I absolutely love what Master Tetsuhiro Hokama has demonstrated here. He is so full of life and passion with a willingness to share his knowledge. This is a real martial artist. Please keep an open mind and enjoy all that the martial arts can offer!
The only secrets I know are watching Jack Dempsey in his prime--Joe Louis in his prime--Frazier in his prime--Foreman in his prime--Ali in his prime--Hagler in his prime--Robinson in his prime--Tyson in his prime. I have respect for true combat Karate, yes...it is a system that works. However, I simply don't and perhaps cannot understand the allure or reverence for many traditional martial arts...the only aspect I do appreciate is the spiritual component. Every traditional martial arts school I have ever had the opportunity to train in simply does not test themselves in true high pressure, high consequence situations. It's merely a bunch of exercises that maybe look cool and have a great deal of history behind them. Now, there are some schools of Karate that do spar full contact at near 100% force...but, seldom. Compare this experience to the experience of any old school, real western boxing gym. See how they spar--compare that to sparring in modern and traditional martial arts gyms. Why is it seldom to see comments such as "What a great old martial arts master...this should be cherished?" on TH-cam from individuals watching Cus D'Amato explain the peekaboo style. He was in fact as skilled in the art of fighting as this man...I'm sure.
He lived in Japan for years... most white people learn the language of the country they are visiting... unfortunately there are countless immigrants that move to western countries and barely learn English even after 30 years living in the west

Finally! A master using a weapon as a prop instead of the center! How utterly wonderful! No one I talk with understands that all of life-especially the fighting arts-is dance. If you can dance spontaneously, anywhere, on any surface, under any environmental stress, misfortune, or threat of destruction, you've achieved mastery. That's what Musashi was going on about. Thanks so much for posting this.
That's a wonderful statement if pertaining to dance class at the promenade, however, Everything about this video in regards to actual fight techniques is nothing short of fodder that further exploits Steven as nothing more than a nostalgic 80s montage and this instructor as a loon leaning towards getting some poor kid killed in a street fight while trying to wrestle a head like a volley ball or whatever that jargon was intended to portray.

It's ok, Steven had a few years of globetrotting and fooling the world into believing that he was actually something more than delusional and "far from truthful" in regards to his own history.
@Axel Ave It's a ridiculous technique and a waste of time. It's like telling a student to "keep the balloon from hitting the ground" and convincing them the purpose is to build hand to eye coordination. Surely the student wouldn't feel safe up slapping a combative opponent in a serious situation, right? Of course not lol anyone with a brain stem would know better. The point is the technique itself is wasting the time of the student. At the end of the day, the accomplished task has enhanced no skills aside from creatively explaining the purpose of said task having already done it. What control is one gaining by squeezing a beach ball? Honestly? Balancing a baseball bat on the tips of your fingers will also teach you control, would you pay your hard earned money to flail around a dojo doing that? Lol nope! You can squeeze beach balls at home if you believe it to be useful. I'm at a dojo to learn skills. The "attitude" I'm carrying is simply 1. Doting over Segall is a quick way to exploit your ignorance towards his ability to quickly ruin your reputation seeing as though Segall has spent decades ruining his own. And 2. I'm not dedicating my paid time towards squeezing beach balls for whatever tired reason. You know what else teaches control over an opponent? Sparring, grapple training of almost any kind.. literally anything other than squeezing a ball lmao. If this indeed teaches a fight skill then the NBA has a plethora of possible black belts already one step closer to becoming efficient fighters..
I like to watch how friendly everyone is, how they share their experiences with honor and humility. I've been learning aikido for 10 years and I'm still at the bottom of the mountain :-D
I say there is no top to this mountain. Your journey is an endless, steady climb to self mastery of the mind & body. When method & technique evolves into an innate reflex reaction.
Tetsuhiro Hokama is a magician 🎩 ,whose wizardry , ensconced in a veneer of karate mastery , speaks volumes of his impeccable oneupmanship in martial arts .

Most people hate Seagal, true he wasn't very kind on his opinion about some other actors in the past (though he wasn't wrong often), plus a disgraceful episode happened on tv due to him being sick and shadowed him. Still he was one of the best in his discipline, elegant, fast and smooth, and his knowledges, which are incredible, are still there. He is very respectful of others martial artists and always ready to learn from others. He knows perfectly every possible weak joint point or nerve pressure and, as a person, he is a very okay dude.

Granted I was sober and he was inebriated, with little effort or thot I dodged and avoided his tackle while assisting his momentum to meet the pavement sooner. Again yes he was drunk and I sober, so I was in defense mode and did not ever strike him personally. He attempted his same attack 2 more times and I responded as I did the first time. Finally someone he trusted approached and restrained his friend from further embarrassment and injury. He looked like he was jumped by 5 people. I never made one offensive move. He had a broken nose and was bloodied from head to toe. Trained to defend and defuse a volatile situation after decades of training your body reacts as it has too. I've cracked many sternums and clavicles and broken noses when necessary to defuse an encounter. I've been out numbered and walked away with little evidence of a scuffle. Probably getting a concussion after his first point I still managed to last the 5 minute time limit losing 1-2 collapsing and taken in an ambulance after time expired. I was back the next month for more. Took me almost an entire year to win my first fight as an adult. My commitment was never 100% during my teens.
Randy, you are correct. Seagal's aikido is one thing. He is also good at other martial arts. But its aikido people want to see.

Young people are caught up in combat sports which I have trained in a lot of and they are wonderful. Obviously an old master is not going to fight in the UFC but make no mistake you would not want to be in close proximity of this wonderful masters hands or feet. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video! I loved it!

Jason Chinnick all bullshit bn displayed here... Id throw that old man thru a window

It's ok, Steven had a few years of globetrotting and fooling the world into believing that he was actually something more than delusional and "far from truthful" in regards to his own history.
@Axel Ave
It's a ridiculous technique and a waste of time.
The "attitude" I'm carrying is simply
1. Doting over Segall is a quick way to exploit your ignorance towards his ability to quickly ruin your reputation seeing as though Segall has spent decades ruining his own.
And

Say why you want about the man. But I just admire anyone with the passion for something that he has for Aikido. The dedication and life long commitment to learning and teaching is a great quality
That girl tripled crossed her legs . She must know Stevens reputation
Ja, ja. True.
I saw that too
Money up front
very precise and intense trainer. i bet he was the finest student when he was young.
So many haters, if you find may 1975 issue of black belt magazine (my sensei gave a copy to me as a bday gift) Segal has the distinction of being the first ever outsider to be allowed to open a dojo in Japan.
Bfd my man, put him in the ring with a big tough cowboy... your opinion will change. How many fights you been in sir? If you dont know the number, you have my respect. But A fkn 80yr old 97 lb man in slow motion, really? my 19 yr old neice would fuck this man up in 30 seconds.
@@teektalon3310 organized with pads in a ring? Or on the street, in bars and back alleys? I studied and lived the life. My discipline has restrained me from instigating but when I hear bullshit all night or someone want to he disrespectful kuz he thinks my girl is too hot to be with someone like me, I always have something to say, along with my stature and natural scowl I seem to draw the attention of many with something to prove. These specific arts are not for sport but survival. When perfectly practicing 10000s of times it becomes instinct, without thought your body reacts whether you see it coming or not. You watch this and should understand that it's at slow motion for demonstration purposes. Realize at full speed limbs are broken and ligaments are torn beyond repair. My first personal realization of this I was 17, on my way to a barbeque and randomly someone jumps out of nowhere at full speed diving at me. I lived the life for about a total of 15 years, split in 2 periods with probably a 10 year break between them. While I was in better shape during those times, I have still always been a short fat guy. So running has never been an option for me. I've won many trophies and medals at all levels including nationally as a teen. My parents were actually the reason for my acquired survival skills. When I joined the adult ranks at 18 my first fight was against a 32 yo who trained his entire life and I got whooped. Probably getting a concussion after his first point I still managed to last the 5 minute time limit losing 1-2 collapsing and taken in an ambulance after time expired. I was back the next month for more. Took me almost an entire year to win my first fight as an adult. My commitment was never 100% during my teens. Football and my friends were what mattered and we always had each other's back. We weren't bangers with guns but we seemed to have a lot of trouble find us often. Luckily it was mostly fists and feet an occasional bat or what have you every now and then. I'm not even a fighter, I'm a lover and I never speak on anything I have zero experience or first hand knowledge about. I've had a few altercations with a few people, under a few different circumstances, from a few different walks of life. Including a few big cowboys but from the city I think. I'm sure you wouldn't claim as your folk. I had the priveldge to test in front of a panel that included a master from Okinawa for my belt. I was his first choice for promotion. I'm sure we've all encountered a cocky show off martial artist who wasn't worth our time. These guys aren't those types. Thing is they don't look for trouble, but when it finds them I pity whoever makes the mistake thinking their size will influence their success
@@vinzbronko Dear mr. Bronko... first off thank you for enlightening me. Seriously, I meant no ill will at at all. I dont mean to challenge you at in any fashion. I think I might have spoken out of bounds simply cos I have fought all my life. I was a boxer, my dad, grandpa, great grandpa too. Someone asked me couple years ago how many fights I been in. To me sir, it was a stupid question. Really!! I meant no offense to you. Don't give a fuck how big, small, what color you are. You got balls man. I would be proud to call you my friend.
@@teektalon3310 He punches trees, Mat. Trees. Your big tough cowboy doesn't stand a chance - unless he uses his six shooter before this karateka kills him with a finger.
@@rodciferri9626 So... let me get this straight - these trees, do they hit back? I put your theory to the test. I punched the biggest tree I could find in my area. I even told the tree to f**k off. The big oak didn't fk me up with a finger nor did anyone else. What's your point mr. One finger death dealer? Don't mess w/ a lunatic that stupid enuff to hit a piece off wood? Got it. Thanks.
I'm sorry Steven Seagull, is just a bad ASS disciplined ,intelligent, nobody comes close ,except Mr Lee.
It's amazing to see the techniques being discussed by a high level master, but it really takes a second seat to the poor guy who is being continually demonstrated on. It really adds an element of comedy to this video.
The Ukes are like the sacrificial 'Red Shirts' of the dojo...
The victim is a Jackie Chan look alike! lol
@PolightlyEvil Don shut up not everyone gives a shit about kumite or ufc. But if a war broke out you better pray ypu have enough bullets
When that student guy turns into a grandmaster himself in the future he will do the same thing to his students, he would probably look back and say to himself this is what my sensei did to me when i was young now its my turn😆
training on hard wood floor, no sound effect in recording, all gi snaps are real. The "old" master will still humble the young talented. I put my money on the master.
Esse mestre é o cão
Hardwood floors are the way to go too many broken toes on mats
The gi snap is real. I remember the day I went from my super thin cotton gi to the heavy, thicker ones when I got my first degree black belt. Felt good to be able to wearing one like the other black belts. Good memories
Both idiots...
Steven Segal looks like a cartoon gangster boss.
He should really lose the belly and have a shave.
Must be his new look and I herd someone say he uses some kind of paint on his hair n stash?
🤣😂😭
Yakuza 😂😂😂😂😂

Steven Seagal's Bullshido Circus Academy! The boy won the Oscar for best supporting actor after this performance😂😂😂
Mr segal need to learn seven step process of backing away from cookies
ekim andersom 😂
hahahahaaha
@ekim andersom ofcourse he beat us all when it comes to eating cookies and pasta ;-)
@ekim andersom 75 yxears old!
Segal was trained by the Brothers Benny,
Benny Hinn
Benny Hana
Benny Hill
Benny Hinn - trained him the "Movement of Air" to knock over his opponent using,..... well,....air.
Benny Hana - trained him to devour a whole side of beef by inhaling it.
Benny Hill - well he's a joke.
Actually I like Steve Segal, his movies have a lot of insight to all aspects of the crime in the elite world.
Whether is Tech, Bio, Nuclear, Hollywood, Trafficking (drugs, human) or other.
His movies are more than hints to whats happening in our world just like ex Governor Jessie Ventura on his exposing the conspiracy/crimes the elite and wealthy do!
I'd do anything to be there with steven. This old guy is no joke 🙏
Yeah but Stevie is the joke
Will Sasso has taken his Seagal impression international.
Master level martial arts, I'm so glad I found this !
i don't know about Steven Segal's martial arts, i only hope it's better than his acting. his Japanese however is amazing.
He‘s an Aikido Grandmaster and has lived in Japan for a couple of years.
@@mikekmann737 Grandmaster? I didn't know he played chess as well!
....we then just may have a misunderstanding regarding the translation:-) I am not a english native speaker. Seagal has 7. Dan Aikodo. And as far as I know is that the translation for those high Dan degrees.
@@mikekmann737 no offence intended in my reply, it was a joke. not a good one i admit. however, i do think segal is prone to the odd exaggeration now and again.
don’t worry 😂😂😂
I don't know who's a worse actor, the black belt or Steven Segal.
hahaha....................i think the black belt
for sure

Just imagine, had the internet never seen the light of day, we might still be believing in the ancient art of Bullshito.

Now I know, by becoming a master in Karate, you will get a *PINK* belt.
I think pink is the maximum belt you can have
@@aleksandsrdamnjanovic5772 It's funny isn't it? From bright color (low rank) to darker color and then black, finally you'll get a PINK? :)
@@potviddotcom2573 yes but pink belt goes very long to became it its not so easy

Great Actor?
I pity with the assistant... He all took the blow.
dont make fun of him he is Jacky Chan the student...
Its an honor to be the assistant
poor sap.
They took turns beating the fuck out of that guy. lol
He is the perfect example for what a person should not be he's a perfect example of what a martial artist should not become
bs
I agree to your comment 100%.
I feel as if I pissed 45 minutes of my time in to the air.
The whole video makes any serious martial artist want to vomit.
No one single technique shown in this video will work in any possible scenario. That is a fact. And to all idiots out there celebrating the respect shown, well..... if you are a half decent human being, you would not enter that Dojo dancing Merengue. Is not a carnival. Is a place like a church. I'll let you figure out the rest.
The end my comments; Mr. Segal is a movie actor. Nothing else. And he will die as an actor. Needless to say, a real bad actor. If it didn't work out on the first take, lets do it again or until we get it right. And when is finally done, you pay $ 20.00 + pop corn & Coke to see his garbage.
Sorry guys.
This is absolute crap and the last name is Segal.
@@rafaelmarcano2057 That's not true at all. If you think pressure points aren't real, than honeslty, you have no idea how to exploit them. Get the right pressure point and a guy will drop like a sack of potatoes
And yeah he was an actor. Also the first American ever to have his own dojo in Japan when younger. He mastered aikido. Joke about it all you want, but he mastered it. And pressure points combined with using other momentum against them, and disarming techniques are real world techniques that can come in handy very quickly in a bad scenario. If you use someones momentum to turn them around, put them down, or throw them. You can easily get in a ko shot the then knee, nuts, or chin, by the time he gains his composure to attack again. And if you're saying Seagal couldn't throw a punch to counter that move, than you're cleary just a hater. 6'4", in fighting type shape, not jacked like some fake action star. Loose and toned. And quick for his size.
I've used peoples momentum against themselves when getting jumped. Fighting for my life. I've put people through windows. I've regained my position quickly by putting others down that came at me with defensive moves. And it saved my life. And I'm not even trained in anything. It was instinct and reflexes. And it save my dam life. I had a blood clot in my brain but never went down and am alive because of it.
Now imagine being trained in it saying it wouldn't help in a street fight. Do you have any idea how ridiculous you sound? This isn't MMA. This is something you can use in the real world
And no one pays for his frigging movies anymore. They're trash. But in the 80-90s he was legit. No one ever accused him of being Deniro ffs🤣. He was a guy who introduced a different style of martial arts in movies. That had his moments as an action actor. But one that could actually fight
You're also missing the point. You, a regular guy watching this, immediately your head says that can't work. But you're not trained. If you were highly trained, yes it would. And effectively
If you already hated Seagal so much why the hell did you watch?
@@rafaelmarcano2057 And it's Seagal. Not Segal
