    So fun to see all the jungle gems! I love your method to fire to 5 with stoneware inside, then 04 for the effects! I like the super bold ones you did, the firecracker, the monet with red, the jazz notes with blue, such good juicy combos! Great opening!

      Wrightwood! How ironic, we are practically neighbors, (Valyermo). And we both are watching a magical kiln opening from the other side of the world. 😊

    Hi Nat 👋 so great to see you and to hear Trace too, hope she gets well soon❤ well what can I say you blew my mind with your coordination colours, I would never have thought that I would like those brights but I absolutely love them😊 you really picked out such gorgeous colours. They look so warm and vibrant especially the ones with marigold liners and oh the tangent, I thought I was moving away from celedons now I want them again😅 The one you dis with the power turquoise and the purple ( sorry I don't know jungle jems names) I have just done almost the exact same but with the mayco passionflower on a piece at my community kiln, I love yours but think mine may not be great as I honeydew fluxes the top of it, think it might be a mess😂 yours looks great without the run.
    Thankyou so much for the shout outs, yes those butterflies are so thin but amazing when they work. What a great start to my day finding your video, I want to go play clay now😊 lots of love to you, Julia xx

    Wow!! Took a few days to finish watching. Amazing Pots! The blooming blues and poppy fields are my absolute favorites. So odd how that one really ran!

      Hey Michele yeah very weird. Maybe because 4 coats the rest were 3 but the other 2 didn’t 🤷‍♀️

      @@mudmagic407 isn’t that strange how things do that! Especially in the jillion. Maybe you accidentally put an extra coat on somewhere? It’s 70 here in Iowa today and I was able to get kiln wash on all of my new FLAT kiln shelves! This will be so much easier to stack the kiln now! Hahaha

    I’m soo sorry for taking so long to leave a comment I saw this last week! Sooo many beauties in here! I love the idea of doing the jungle hems after the fact! What a great idea. I’ve never used them before but have seen a few of your videos with them and I’m very interested, but knowing they really melt at ^6 I was a little deterred. So thanks for this!! Hey Trace!! You really are like Charlie in this vide🤭hope you feel better soon!! Sending healing vibes your way! 😘

    I can’t believe Tracy is in the hospital!! Prayers your way Tracy!! Nat I can’t believe this is an entire kiln load of jungle gems!! And the way you fire the JG is so amazing!! After the pots were glaze fired was it hard to get the JG to dry since it was already vitrified?

    • @mudmagic407
      @mudmagic407  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Michele! Not too bad I think because the clay was bare so it was rough for the glaze to attach to. Still took longer for the first coat to dry but nothing like when u reglaze over a glazed surface.

    Oh! I loved every one of these. I will be glazing today, so I need to check out which jungle gems I have.
    Am I correct, you glazed only the inside of the mugs for the 5.5 fire, and then only the outside for the third fire at 04/05? How many coats does it take of the jungle gems to get such pretty blooms?
    You have inspired me!

    Love your videos, they always make me smile.
    Could I ask how you reglaze/refire? I find it hard to reglaze as it doesn’t adhere well after a firing.

    • @mudmagic407
      @mudmagic407  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thankyou so much! I used to use hair spray until I saw a vid by Cara at Amaco saying it’s all old wives tales n just apply glaze straight onto the glazed piece. The layers take ages to dry so you have to allow literally days to do it xx

  • @rachelduffy9458

    Love your results! Such a nice way to make JG functional. So just to clarify, when you fired it to vitrify the clay, they only had stoneware glaze as the liners? The outsides were left bare? So the JGs were applied onto bare, vitrified clay? Thanks for sharing!

    • @mudmagic407
      @mudmagic407  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Rachel Thankyou so much! Yes u r totally correct. Then back thru bisque once JG applied xx

    Are these jungle gems glazes fired at cone 5 or 05?

    • @mudmagic407
      @mudmagic407  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi therese thankyou for watching! I explain the process at the beginning but basically it’s a bisque then a glaze 5.5 then bisque again w jg on at 04 xx
