    Loved the honesty of the video. I can relate. I’m going to install petronics on my Flatty. Thanks for sharing

      Glad it was helpful! I think it’s definitely worth the effort although you need to make sure you have the correct spark plug wires. From when I told it is a problem to use the originals.

    Don't give up, it will live. I just put a new starter and turn up to my 47 . She runs good now. Good luck bro .

    Hysterically funny when you turn to camera and start to realize it may have been a fuel problem all along. Just found your channel and like it a lot.

      Thank you. That was a bad day. I now have it running. However the transmission is now not working. Why do I do this?

    I have that same Pertronix conversion on my 47 ford two door. It works good but needed a lot of filing to make it fit into the distributor.

    I donno... but when I worked on Helicopters in the army, we used bolts like that . The holes were used for safety wires. They held the bolts in place. We ran the wire through the holes twisted the wire ,then tied it to another bolt or fix point. So maybe they are just good quality aircraft bolts. Yep. Trying to stay neutral and objective when troubleshooting is very difficult. My memory was Ford points weren't too hard to do but I never did a 46 or Pertronix either.

    The struggles of old cars, drop out the fuel tank and clean out any debris in it.
    Blow out the fuel lines front to back and back to front.
    Check the fuel pump diaphragm for cracks and leaks .

      Well, the tank was recently replaced. It was done by the previous owner. I cleaned it all out. I replaced all the fuel lines, previous owner, installed a new fuel pump. I did pull it apart and check everything. Also went totally through the carburetor and installed it. What I think at this point is the fuel pick up tube inside the tank either has a hole in it, or has fallen off. My plan at the moment is to move the fuel line to the bottom of the tank and attach it to the drain valve and see what I get.

    I dont think the bolts that hold the distributor to the block are original to your car. My 48 Super Delux is box stock original and doesnt have bolts with holes anywhere. A Pertronix conversion is a great idea. This car is coming along nicely.

      The electronics made a huge difference in the motor running. This particular motor was a vacuum advance.

    Holes in bolt are to safety wire in olace

    • @Theoldironworkshop
      @Theoldironworkshop  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that’s what everybody says but the big question is is it a stock Ford set up or did somebody add these at some point?

  • @weaverhchrist
    @weaverhchrist ปีที่แล้ว +1

    those holes are for a safety wire so the bolts don't back out.
