    Tiny houses (shacks-sheds) have been around for a long long time...there only popular now because of the screwed up economy.
    I lived in what was called a shack back in the 60's, "Hippie Pad" it was exactly like these tiny houses today, just not on wheels.

    One of the things I do when considering an area to move to is to use Maps to see what's around. For example, I'll look for mosques and synagogues, not necessarily to join, but for diversity. I look for healthcare, it could be life or death in some situations. Of course, there are things like stores and entertainment, vehicle maintenance... anything one does with any regularity within an acceptable distance. Demographics... will I fit in? hard to know until "too late".

      We all want those things nearby, but in my case, I want to live as far away from a mosque as possible. I try to keep my diversity inclusive to people that don't want to kill me. :) Huntsville has all you want, but whether you like it or fit in is a toss up anywhere you go. But, in a tiny home you can move it somewhere else if you don't like it. Problem solved.

    • @BeDoHave-so8nr
      @BeDoHave-so8nr หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@michelb.8953 That was an evil statement that you made about mosques, and Muslims wanting to kill you. I have several Muslim acquaintances and neighbors, and none of them want to kill me or anybody else. I'd be more worried about living around bigoted, homophobic, racist people like you, the kind of person who's idea of diversity is a nation ruled by straight white christian nationalists with subservient wives. Alabama and Huntsville has all of that, which is why many people would never live in Alabama. It's called Darwin's waiting room for good reason.

    • @smallspaces-fc3fi
      @smallspaces-fc3fi หลายเดือนก่อน

      The bigoted comment from the person who said that they don't want to live near a mosque because Muslims want to kill you gives you an idea of what to expect in that area. if you want to see what life is like in Alabama, just look at the official statistics for healthcare, education, income levels and crime/safety, and you'll see that Alabama ranks near the bottom in ever category. As for diversity, the politics and laws that they're passed tell you that it's not a welcoming place for anybody in the LGBTG community. They're big into banning books and drag shows, and incarcerating women for getting an abortion. It's one of the reddest, most reactionary states in the country. Of course, maybe none of that matters to you. I've met many nice people from Alabama, and they had all moved away and would never go back. They always said thank God for Mississippi.

  • @michelb.8953
    @michelb.8953 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love tiny homes and think they should have been around forever. Even though, I'm more into the park model size for living in due to having more space and having them tied down, because my plan wouldn't be to move it. I'd be scared to death in a tiny towable in tornado alley and/or under trees that snap in the wind or ice, especially pine trees. I know the real small ones can be tied down, but that defeats the purpose of having a towable size. However, I completely understand having a very small one due to the price and what one can afford. It is certainly better than being homeless, but sad that it has come to people having to live in a 8 x 14 box and making it sound like it's the greatest thing in the world.
    Affordable neighborhoods of one level tiny homes on slabs, having sidewalks, and a farmers market (and a few other small shops) for seniors or disabled that are too young for a nursing home should be a normal thing everywhere, but not in this world. It seems like the only option now, due to cost of living, is a tiny home if you are on a fixed income. And due to the demand, most places charge $600 to 800$ lot rent. Like the government says, have nothing and be happy.

    Laundry facilities are a great idea. A turtle! Woot, woot. Dragonflies! Yes! A clubhouse! A resident library and book exchange would be great. Walking trails, yes. I’m 69 so half a mile is great. Dog park. Check. I’m a candle maker and fiber artist so a farmers market or craft shows would be fabulous!

      Female middle-aged tiny house enthusiast, nature-lover, and life-long DIYer here. Have been watching your videos since you started, and enjoyed hearing about your professional journey. Lived many places, including Florence, AL for 12 years and the past 16 in Northern CA, so I was surprised when you said you grew up in Sac! Jim cracks me up as a self-appointed spokesperson and will likely help fill those five lake lots! I agree about the appeal of tiny home living and am at the point in life where I want a tiny house and big shop and to be back in the south. Like the poster above, my husband has not shared my tiny house dream...maybe she and I need to talk 😅 Meanwhile, I look forward to watching the continued progress. Great work, Hans!

    For years I've wanted to create a tiny home community. I had my tiny custom made in 2006 had it rented out for 17 yrs. I'm now living in it and enjoying life! I was Tiny when hardly anyone knew about tiny homes. Less is more! I only wish I had a community to move my tiny onto! Mine is 10 x 45 the interior is 350sq ft then an attached 10ft screen porch. What's the largest your lots can handle? I currently sit on a rented private lot surrounded by regular large homes I would love to be part of a community with chickens and such! 😊
