Love these exploratory type of interviews where you combine the discussion of a project with the tools used to create/produce it. Personally, I don't have a problem with clean footage. I don't think there's such a thing as too clean. If anything, clean footage gives you more choices. For instance, you can add film grain of a film stock you like in post. Worrying about noise/grain is a common concern in film making. So, a camera that gives you more latitude in the area of noise/grain is a win-win in my view. I have the BMPCC4K, and I love the footage I get out of it. My biggest concern is over-sharpness. I shot a feature film with the GH5 last year and turned the sharpness all the way off in the V-log profile. I love Panasonic cameras as well. So, I look forward to be able to shoot with the S1H. Great interview. Thanks for this inspiration.

Great interview! This is exactly what we need to hear about this camera, real world use from a cinematographer, thank you! The S1H doesn't shoot Raw (yet), and maybe that's Ok, given its other advantages. 6 hours is not a lot of time to shoot in a restaurant, having minimal set up and tear down is crucial to getting the maximum shooting time with the actors.
Looking forward to more interviews like this.

3200 ISO is the top end of the lowest Dual ISO mode. (It's the top gain amount of the "low" 0db) It's actually cleaner to just bump up to 4000 ISO instead (the "high" 0db setting) because the noise drops significantly from 3200 ISO going into 4000 ISO. As funny as it sounds, it just makes more sense to not shoot in 3200 and go straight to 4000 instead. You keep the same dynamic range and your image gets even cleaner.

I was having the same thought here. Why did they shoot on the low iso setting for a low light situation? That being said, I suppose they shot v-log. With v-log, on low iso, you can actually go from 640 up to 5000 iso. On high iso you can go from 4000 all the way up.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am surprised: if you had limited light capabilities, you could have tried to film on "high iso" setting with a clean, native iso of 4000. Why did you choose to shoot on "low iso" with 3200 instead?

I think you had to shoot this interview in 24fps - to match the movie inserts. Otherwise, these inserts are stumbling as they were reencoded from 24fps to 25fps. The original movie does not stumble.
