Four firsts plus Nemec and Silayev is basically SIX first rounders *plus* Dawson Mercer --- for Quinn Hughes?? That sounds like a Herschel Walker trade to me. Devils will be mortgaging their future for a family reunion.
sort of but, even with names like Stevens and neidermeyer in their history, there would be a very good chance Quinn Hughes would finish his career as greatest defense in franchise history . NJD gets the best player in the trade, but in order to acquire a player like that you have to almost make the offer too good to pass up. Maybe NJD gets VAN to retain and they get QH fro two years at a 5mil cap hit or something. It is a risk for NJD but it kind of use a nuke open their cup window even further ( when those picks are all used up NJD should still be a major contender). Those picks wouldnt be worth as much to them as they would probably all be 28 plus. I could also see Vancouver flipping said picks for younger players already developing to speed up a rebuild.

Philly isn’t trying to win. Selling Farabee and Frost signaled that. They have a ton of goalies in the pipeline and are pretty clearly going for a high pick. Gibson would be the exact opposite of what they need.
I think they will be trying to win at some point in the next few seasons. They already have their franchise cornerstone in Michkov. And Konecny and Sanheim locked up.
They’ve got the guys they have now plus Bjarnason and Zavragin. It makes no sense to get a goalie in his thirties that’s paid what Gibson is paid to stopgap the complete dumpster fire the team is right now. Acquire picks and young guys and hope some of them are better than what they have now. They’re trying to win, they just stink.
Philly is nowhere near close to being a playoff team. A trade for Gibson makes no sense.

I think two second round picks for Gibson is fair value- not stoked on retaining even if it is just 15% as that takes up one retention spot for 2 years.
Goalie values aren’t gonna fetch much and it’s why I’m fine with keeping Gibson. His cap hit isn’t hurting us and with the cap going up, the deal isn’t gonna be bad at all.
Unlike our poor deal with Trouba and subsequently Fowler, I wouldn’t hate this, just don’t really see the purpose in trading Gibby at this point. Have a Boston like tandem with Dostal and keep him is my preference.

I see two problems in the Clarke trade proposal other than the ones you mentions.
First off, the Kings are in what, the sixth year of their 5-year plan? If they were to move a valuable asset like Clarke (and Turcotte) it would be for a player that can help them now, this year, not some time down the road. (also they don't have cap-space to take on that type of player).
And second, while Turcotte was looking like a bust previously now that he's finally staying healthy he's starting to look like a guy that was take 5th overall. He's not that yet but it's entirely possible that he will be that player in another year or two. So Clarke and a Turcotte who's starting to live up to his potential would need a substantial return, specifically a top-tier player.

There is zero chance Vancouver's MGMT would allow Hughes to go to free agency. Every team in the NHL would be calling for him if he chose not to re-sign.
well then they don’t get him at that dollar value once he hits free agency. and then you lose 2 years of him playing in his prime. I think those two years plus the marketing attention it would bring the organization ($$$) would make it easily worth giving up that package.

@mitchread5156 you're 100% correct. Quinn seems like a decent enough dude that would tell the Canucks he won't resign and then they have all the reason to get an insane package in return. There isn't a team in the league that wouldn't be interested and that could drive the bidding war.
After seeing how the season has progressed with the wings I am not sure we need to accelerate Cozens into the 2C spot and we may be able to wait for Nate next season. That being said, I’d trade for cozens if Copp or Compher is going back the other way, a 2nd rd pick, Rasmussen, and a mid tier prospect

As a wings fan, that deal is way to rich for me. Cozens had ine good season. Trading a 1st, buim and burger would be awful value. Rather call up one of the young guys to play between kane and cat
I do think Dumolin is getting traded, especially if the Ducks stay out of the playoff hunt (they are 7 points out right now) and defense stays healthy. The left shooting defensive future is LaCombe, Zelwegger, and Mintyukov
Gibson staying on with Anaheim in a 1A 1B situation with Dostal makes more sense than trading him anymore. They are finally making improvements and playing meaningful games past January. I also don't think the Pittsburgh native would want to get traded to a Philly team with a worse point percentage than his current team.
Alright, Sabres fan (sadly) here and for me I do not think that's enough for Cozens. When he leaves he will be awesome, buffalo is just really horrible and they are ruining him.

From Adams track record honestly I doubt Cozens or Byram are the guy moved. He goes and trades the guy you aren't hearing about. Which my bet would be on Quinn. Cozens is just a player I like a lot, but he also is not as bad as he's looked. He's been adapting to actually structured hockey and outside of Quinns short spurt of scoring again Cozens is looking more and more comfortable with Ruffs style of hockey. I think Quinn gets swapped for another struggling player that just needs a change of scenery or if Rosen looks good(missed last nights game) packaged for a RHD to play with Power

I think any deal with the red wings for the Sabres and the wings is going to be bad. Especially when both teams are looking to make NHL deals, not picks and prospects. There’s not really a deal that could be made where one GM deserves to be fired after.

As a Wings fan, I don't like the trade. Cozens had a great first year, but has done nothing since. Is he another NHL Head Case? The kind of guy who wants to play when he wants to? I like Berggren and think he'll be a better player long run. We have guys in Grand Rapids who'll be in Detroit in the next year or 2. Kasper who has thrived on the top line right now will be a center in the coming years. Don't screw up the nucleus of the team right now. If anything trade Holl (if possible) and get a good defensive defenseman. That's the weakest part of the team.

Cozens has had 1 good season. He’s a $7.1M 3C! So, add his $7.1M to Copp’s $5.63M and Compher’s $5.1M, That $17.83M on 3rd line centers. Buffalo even said they have no problem holding on to Cozens because his value is at a low point. If Cozens gets traded and continues to produce like he has recently he will basically be untradeable. AA had a 30g season and never got close to repeating it. HELL NO ON COZENS!!!!!!!!!!!!
But you failed to mention how young Cozens is and he has been in a very poor situation in Buffalo, a change of scenery could easily see him get back to the point totals he’s proven he can reach
