    Interesting and I'm wondering if any of this applies to a dirt kart where grip challenge is a way of life.

    • @PowerRepublic

      I not sure as I haven't ripped it up on the dirt yet. without major grip in the dirt, I reckon it would help. give it a go and get back to us

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question. I like RainX as a quick fix.. otherwise you can buy a 'turbo-visor' attachment that can be stuck on your helmet. It is a disc visor with a bearing in the centre and veins on it so that it spins as the wind hits it.

    Im not sure i will be doing much wet driving, swapping setup sounds like a pain in the ass, not to mention cleaning and drying. I dont think it will be a problem though as i dont need to compete and will be able to avoid rain for the most part... i hope.

    Interesting you mention putting front bar in for the wet. Is this for an otk? thought you took it out in the wet or does having it out make it hard for the kart to release out of the corner? Also what are your thoughts on running wider front hubs in the wet? Tossing up whether to invest in some wide alloy front hubs or 17mm front stubs/40mm rear axle setup instead.

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Glenn, yes that what I tend to do, helps activate the front more. try it out next time it rains and let me know how it goes. Wide alloys for sure in the wet IMO

    Hi, checking what you said a 6:30: earlier you said in the wet reduce front sprocket e.g. from 11 down to 10, but at 6 min 30 you say "add some more teeth"? is that meant to be to the rear sprocket?

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah more teeth in the wet. cause your corner speed is lower and the straights are effectively shorter because you brake earlier in the wet

      Great question. I like to leave my rears out as wide as the side pods. Almost not adjusting as the wheels are narrower. And then in put on the biggest hubs I have. That’s what I like , give it a go and let me know how it feels.

    Do you run the same race-line in the wet as In the dry ?

    • @maxminers0394
      @maxminers0394 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      No you will want to stay away from where the rubber is on the track as that will become very slippery, some people will go off line to break then back onto the outside to go round, but breaking on the rubber will be very greasy and slippery so best to stay away from it, as well as having a practice day and trying things out yourself

    • @PowerRepublic
      @PowerRepublic  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      no, especially on slick. even on wets you can run 'off line' so that there isn't as much slippery rubber to drive over. a good place to start if you don't know any better or have never driven a kart in the wet, is just try and drive in the middle of the track the whole way around the curcuit. this way you will missing the majority of the race lines.

      The purpose of tightening a bolt/stud, is to stretch it. so, it does not matter what the rim material is. Tighten as normal.
