I'm one of this synth's patch designers as well. It's always interesting to see other people's interpretation of our work, especially in the hands of a talented musician. BTW, for those interested, I have a new full preset bank coming for this. 110 presets + some drum/FX samples. It'll be available at my website later this week.
Hey, I'm one of the patch designers for this synth. It's so cool to see my patches in a video like this, especially from someone as big as you. BTW, if you put "Alligator Suitcase" through an overdrive and cabinet emulator, you can get a DEAD-ON Rhodes sound.
For those who prefer a hardware synth version (like me), there are also two hardware synths available that use the famous Sega Genesis YM2612 soundschip. The Mega MIDI and the Kasser DAFM. Both follow different concepts but are awesome.
The good thing about this plugin is the utmost care was put in to making sure it emulates the hardware as well as possible. So, you can take settings from this and (probably manually?) convert them to a hardware synth with the same chips and it _should_ sound identical! There's a video from Plogue showing the process: th-cam.com/video/VLxTHYGLKY0/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the mention to the DAFM synth Genesis. I would like to add that Plogue made a great job with the emulation of the chip and thanks to him the people have now more options to craft sounds and make melodies with the sound of their childhood. I am glad to see new projects in this direction.
@@CodyGratner Indeed. For example, you can save the presets on DMP files with the Plogue ChipSynth MD and load them directly, without any conversion, in the DAFM synth Genesis.
@@andreaaiazzi4501 Yes, the MegaFM is really cool. It has two YM2612 chips and plenty sliders, knobs and buttons for real-time control and simple programmability.
First, great playing. Watch your channel on and off for a while now. Second, thank you Plogue. They have some of the coolest plugs. Chipspeech and Chipsynth are two of my favorites. They really put a ton of work into their stuff. The dirty realism of this really shows and it's just awesome.
very very dope vst!!! Great job... I hope some weirdo doesn't get mad at me for complimenting you and respond to this comment...people have been miserable lately on youtube 😕
Hey does someone know if there is a plugin that emulates Pokemon Mystery Dungeon/Dragon Quest/Chrono Trigger kind of instruments ? It means really a lot to me...
Afaict the presets are from the library. I need to eventually add a TFI exporter to MD but the results might not cover everything as there are some stacking in there. (and effects, and extra cpu modulations)
hello again :D you know, it's interesting, 'cause if you look at the actual development process of this synth it should sound like the most accurate one of them all, but they've added so many external effects that it totally ruins the authenticity of YM2612 and turns in into a variation with way too many additions.. reminds me of Arturia V series, it's hard to tell where the actual hardware emulation ends and modern features come in.. anyway, here's a video of the same plugin that does actually sound like Mega Drive: th-cam.com/video/VLxTHYGLKY0/w-d-xo.html
@@lesterrr12312 Yes reminds me Arturia V also. Original Md doesnt have Reverb and digital FX that you can find on ChipSynth and it's way too expensive (50 bucks !!!)
@@ClbnaVGM I don't think it's expensive for what you get (the most accurate MD emulation software in existence). And @BRTD 2005, I don't think the addition of effects ruins the authenticity, since the effects are optional.
@@jetlag1488 If you want accuracy, then try Alyjames Lab's FMDRIVE. 10 bucks only but Windows only :) And for FREE you have GENNY VST which is quite accurate too with the possibility to import VGM patches. I agree with @BRTD 2005

well done dude!
Nice idea, been playing around with these patches, they are great.
Is there portamento for this synth mate? I'm trying to make something that's like Streets Of Rage 2's Spin On The Bridge lead sound.
Those patches and that playing sound amazing!
this synth sounds way better than I expected...bell space damn! and so many great sounds and super clean

There’s also the sligthly overpriced MegaFM that sounds amazing. But maybe I’ll start with this instead

Awesome playing and sounds Brutha X
Cool software, nice playing. Great Job
Hiya dude I mainly watch you videos on my TV so don't get a chance to comment, I love your content you make it's very inspiring. Thanks for the videos
The power of the 2612
Sounds really good

There are these things called piano lessons and this insane concept called practice you can try. :)
love to see you do the new dx7 clone from same company
Thank you for not making trap beat with these sounds
Great as always. Thank you for the Home Alone extract !!!
I don't really do daw stuff but man this one is very cool
2:55 warmed my heart
as soon as you start playing Bach your Gould-Face comes back :D
Nice sound churchorgan you look Like organist from church. Good synth
Sir I believe you grew up on the same rpgs that I did.
I notice a few Genesis/Mega Drive soft synths out there, is this one considered the best? Does it emulate the DAC distortion pretty well?
It has a DAC sampler thing. It’s probably the best
Better than anything I have ever heard. Even covers multiple versions of the DACs!
Chipsynth sound designer here. You have like, TWENTY options for DAC distortion in this thing.
3:43 🎹👌
you play too well with this love it!!!!!
1:48 is one of my favorite sounds ever
Any tips on how to make it?
Look into emulating mallet sounds.
Xylos/Marimbas.
Model ur synths after those as a start if u make ur own
Lovely patches. FM synthesis baffles me - can anyone recommend a tutorial on the subject?
Check out Andrew Huang's FM tutorial bud. It's very clear and concise.
Particularly enjoyed the Rush reference :D

How do you split between two voices?

MEGA DRIIIIIIIIIIIVE
Master keyboard is the Blofeld, Haha, you don't sale it, good synth.
Did I hear some Legend of Xanadu there??
Song at 3:45?
It's on Home Alone OST by John Williams.
Sounds more like a DX7 than a Genesis
It uses FM operators same as DX7 but not as clean.
Doesnt sound like a MD at all.
