How ever many coils you cut is generally double in inches. 1 coil = 2" , 1.5 coil = 3"

If you use 74 chevelle springs in the rear. You'll schedule ve the same drop as the front.

@@tharlan501 Get springs for the '68 to '72 Malibu, Tempest, Cutlass. (Moog #CC501) They will fit the Crown Vic, Town Car, and Grand Marquis. It will lower the car 2 inches the back. Just bought a pair plus I got a pair of 2 inch front lowering springs made by Eaton Detroit Springs. I am going to install everything in a few weeks.

It’s because you don’t have the police interceptor they sit one inch taller

You had me cracking up with your concern for those zip ties!
Hey man, you might've not achieved your desired result, but you got something done and now you've banked the experience.
That shit tends to pay off when you're least expecting it. Hope the new springs worked out well for you.

Common sense says clear the area before lowering.

Not low enough in my opinion

Look at the length of the control arm compared to where the spring sits. Its about 2/1.
Your actual drop will be twice the amount of length you cut off the spring.

I just lowered my 2000 Grand Marquis but I bought a 2" lowering springs from Eaton Detroit Springs and the rears are Moog CC501 for the 1970-72 Chevelle, Tempest, Cutlass. It has a slight rake with the back being about quarter of an inch taller but it look and drives great on 17"×8" rims and P235-50R17 tires.

If you put 19 inch wheels in the front and 22 on the back, you got a street rod

I learned the hard way too about lowering your DD, it fuckin sucks (for those living in the northern climates). I got an '07 Mustang GT I decided to lower with Eibach Sportlines and I live in Wisconsin...nuff said :D I plow my way in anything over 3" of snow and the roads here are also, ass :\ My bump stops are about to fall apart from bottoming out so much lol. Can't say enough about how good Blizzaks are tho \m/

Removing 1 inch on the spring (from the height) is 2 on the body. You needed to take off so much less on the front and you would've nailed it. My jaw fell off when I saw how much you cut off your DD 😱
