Toyota Innova doesn't need any sort of introduction as it is simply the pinnacle of MPV segment in India. The MPV is offered in a total of 12 variants in 5 grades: E, G, GX, VX and Z. The diesel variants are powered by 2494cc 4-cylinder turbocharged 2KD-FTV engine. The Innova MPV's three variants are also available in petrol fuel trim with the 1998 cc, 4-cylinder 1TR-FE engine. As for safety, Toyota has incorporated dual front airbags as standard feature across the entire variant lineup of the MPV. It has been a best-seller right from its launch, with 4000 units sold on an average per month in the country.

Lots of sweet memories attached to the Innova. When it was launched in 2005 it was a sensation (it still is). We kids felt lucky when we got a ride in the Innova.

i got it on 2014sep full option for 1600000/- its simply owsome ... i love it....
In South Africa the Innova comes with the 2.7 lt petrol engine.and 5 speed manual transmission only. It is a very powerful engine but also thirsty. I have to drive very carefully to get at best a fuel consumption of 10 km/Lt or 10 Lt per 100km. I have the 7 seater version with the all leather interior, reverse camera and climate control.
It is a very comfortable car made for long distance traveling. In general the load space is very good and the legroom between the rows of seats are more than enough. Build quality is good.
Overall I view the Innova a very good and comfortable car. My only criticism would be the fuel consumption. I assume that the diesel version would be more economical
Oh yes, and then something of less importance is the fact that the Innova in South Africa does not come with mud flaps/stone guards. After traveling on gravel roads for a few 100 kms the body panels right behind the wheels are getting "sand blasted" I suppose one could fit some after market stone guards.
Nice overall video reviews. Detailed and not too jazzy. One aspect I would like to see in your future reviews is the overall safety features in the vehicles. Considering that our roads are not the safest, a quick mention about Airbags,ABS,EBD etc will be very informative for us.

toyota has clearly read our indian mind and taste ,, we indian most of our people does'nt care of safest ,,we people want only the car look beautifull and comfort,,toyota innova for 19 lakh ????? and it had got only a driver and co driver airbag( not even a duel stage airbag ) ,only ABS , and only disk brake at front and on and on and on, its ladder on frame chassis ( does not have crumple zone and side bars) ,,,,tata aria for 16 lakhs has a all aroung disk brakes with ABS , Electronic stability programming,Electronic brake force distribution and brake assist, traction control system ,,6 airbag ,,or the mahindra xuv 5oo with same amount of features and its a monocoque chassis ( which is a strongest and safest chassis ) ,,just for look , chrome finish all around and reliability r u going to spend 20 lakh (( what happen if a accident happen next day (sorry) )),,,,,,we people should buy a car considering safety as a first preference and a value for money ,,,,example buying a maruti ertiga is a good choice ( it too has a ABS , 2 airbag , brake assist , good comfort ,nice diesel engine with is punchy and fuel efficient than innova ,,and a monocoque chassis) just for 10 lakhs ,this is what called value for money ,,,,,just dont say its comfort its comfort ,,drive a tata aria or ertiga or xuv for one day , u will feel its also comfort ,,i dont say its a bad car,, for its equipment list and features it should have a price tag of only 10 lakh, not worthy more than that

I totally agree with what u said..:) and it's the most perfect thing...makes a lot of sense..just cause toyota launched innova earlier it gained prosperity which is being overpraised without any reason..while the truth is there are so many better cars at low cost and ertiga is actually more comfortable than innova.. I've sat in both the cars... It's just cause of prosperity that the innova is costly..and toyota is actually misusing it's prosperity by making it even costlier with the newer models..
Saying comfort as not one of the main basis of buying a car is somehow wrong. Sure, I agree that Safety should be a big deal, but you wouldn't be safe without comfort at all times. I got a ride with an Ertiga and yet the 3rd row seating is really cramped, that it made me feel hard to walk right after. I had to stay home for a long time because of that event and to think that I was sitting for like hours, since I had a long ride, it makes me feel like it is less safe either. Comfort is part of Safety. What my point is that you should chose a car that is both safe and comfortable. One car wouldn't be considered safe if it is also not comfortable. (P.S. one thing I could say is that the disadvantage of having a very safe car is that people would rely on it a lot though)
Yeah, your statement makes sense though. It's overpriced, but in our country, it's affordable. What we compare Ertiga in it's level is the Avanza, and Innova should be compared to a higher level of MPV.
Safety doesn't only means abs airbags.
There's also a thing called strengthen chassis

Off course Innova is great therefore I am using it . HOWEVER THE WORST SYSTEM IN IT IS - REMOVING THE SPARE WHEEL DURING DAY AND NIGHT and more difficult when it is raining in the night. . . I wish company will change the design with an improved system ( HOW TO TAKE OUT SPARE WHEEL) .
No other car has such bad system. I have talked to many Innova drivers and they all agree that Tyotota must do something about it.
Secondly - Safety First : company should sale all Innova with proper FOG LIGHTS fitted in Innova which will help in the fog, rather than just fitting Air Bags alone. .
Safety while driving in fog during the night is most important . It is sad to say that company designers can not think the way a common driver thinks.

What is torque in engine? Purpose of it.? Diesel has higher torque compare to petrol why is it so?
+Napolean Kagoo Torque means how quickly the vehicle can move (pulling power of engine). Diesel has higher torque compared to petrol as the former has a turbo charger in it. On the other side, only few petrol cars, under the 10 lac rupee segment, have the same in petrol models. For eg, Polo GT TSI (automatic), Bolt, Zest etc. These petrol cars have good torque! Hope my answer helps you somewhat.

+Napolean Kagoo Well, AFAIK, it's not inversely proportional or directly proportional, although I could be wrong about it. Here' an example, a VW Polo with 1.2 TSI engine and 103 BHP produces a torque of 175 Nm @ 1500-4100 RPM while an Audi A8 with 4.0 T(F)SI engine and 429 BHP produces a torque of 600 Nm @ 1500-5000 RPM.

***** Trust me the MT on the Innova makes you forget about the concept of AT- The gear ratios are so well-spaced. It's a breeze to drive the Innova for hours and hours at a stretch in MT (don't forget to wake up the passengers after reaching your destination though haha)
