Actually the adhesive on the seat of the joist hangers makes a huge difference and really reduces the squeak that you would get otherwise.

I don't understand, the entire 2nd floor is being supported by these flimsy metal pieces rather than resting on something. looks like a shit home. it's not a deck.

Hamguy Bacon those “flimsy metal pieces” are the universally accepted method of hanging floor joists. Stick to what you know or at least watch This Old House, Hometime, or re-runs of Bob Vila’s Home Again.

These joists were made by Universal Forest Products in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Actually the more I research those floor trusses, the guy installs hangers, sets truss in some construction adhesive, the comes back after setting several and they nail them into the hangers. And after proper floor sheeting I stalled with glue& screws every 6 in the floor will most likely never have any give or squeak as loads are so spread out. Watched fellow install 3/4" plywood for floor sheeting, tile guy came in with huge truck load of products, then simply cleaned floor, dampened it slightly, troweled on modified thin set, and started tiling till got to wet areas where they applies Kurdi and then tiled the rest of house.
Tile layer said the owner over engineered the floor system and if floor were braced and reinforced 2x12 he would have had to install cement board but with trusses and proper adhesive and fasteners the floors will never sag or squeak.
I watched an advertisement for the floor trusses installed as such and they had special tool to measure loaded sag and drove two large backhoes over like 24 or 28 fr toopen span floor and there was literally thousandths of an inch in center WITH TWO HUGE TRACTOR/BACKHOES.
Talk about impressive show on actual engineered strength. And all heat/plumbing can go through with no loss in rigidity as no cutting or drilling.

    Build the walls first?

What is the span and depth of those trusses to have no mid support? Just curious. Thx

The trusses can handle that span with no problem.

Calm down. Those walls are made of sips (structural insulated panels), not balloon framing. That house wouldn't meet the fire code if it was balloon framed.

Fuck that must be the noisiest compressor I've ever heard.

So...if I had a floor like that, and wanted to hang a punching bag, how would I do that?

It's kind of weird how they are built with a mix of 2x3 and 2x4. :-/

Yeah I've never seen that. Although we usually build much longer floor trusses where I'm at. This is an old-school style here.

And why the fuck are we balloon framing?

nothing says floor squeeks better than floor joist hangers! Will you dpsht homebuilders please stop trying to reinvent the home building process with engineered BS. I am really sure the cost of those outer walls will return in savings......NOT.
