"I can't kill my therapist, I need another session"
All-time greatest meme!
Show of hands: who loves Dexter cuz he makes you wonder if you're ...Did I say that out loud?

@@lizcaplan3410 James Doakes wants to know your location lol
Real
16:07 I love how confidently Doakes says "bs, you dont have any friends!"
After you watch Dexter so much you realize that Dexter actually has emotions. He feels Anxiety, Anger, Regret, Remorse, and Sadness
Most sociopaths do have emotions. Just not empathy or sympathy.
@@Dead_Again1313 Everytime I hear about information it feels like so much contradiction after contradiction. 😅
Sociopath’s and psychopaths have emotions it’s a big misconception they have a lack of empathy they don’t care about other peoples feelings
From what I understand Sociopaths have trouble controlling their emotions and impulses, so if they feel like doing it they will. They might regret it but they will still likely do it again out of their control.
A psychopath genuinely does not think what they are doing is wrong. It's the most logical thing and even common sense to do the things they do, if they kill or hurt someone they genuinely wonder why others are making a big deal of it.
Both can feel emotions, they just don't process it the way we do
@@HoodLilKrillinContradiction is normal. Saying something and meaning it is like seeing a Unicorn.
Hilarious how Dexter hitting Paul with the frying pan is considered one of the human moments. Even if it’s a psycho thing to do, it’s so relatable.
They consider it human cuz he acted out of emotion. Psycho would have been him planning to set up Paul. Everything he did was very improvised that's why he gets caught on it.
It's not psycho to defend your family.
Best part was his face 😬
That’s the thing. It’s not a psycho thing to do as he lost control of his emotions. Psychopaths don’t feel emotions like regular folk. He got pissed because he was insulting Rita, someone he cared about. Psychopaths don’t care about anything other than how it affects themselves and how useful they can be to their own goals.
@@MR.ICE. psychopathy is characterized by impulsivity, the "psychopaths are careful, calculated and unemotional" idea is just a rumor, that's machiavellianism which isn't even in the dsm
That last one was hilarious. "You don't even walk like a human. You're like a lizard gliding on ice" 😂
Doakes was the best! He saw right through Dexter, immediately.
Lizards don't glide on ice. They hibernate in the colder regions.

Typical bay harbour butcher behaviour
I wish they also had this scene from Doakes' pov as well, where Dexter just blankly stares at the sky
I still can’t believe that Doakes was the Bay Harbor Butcher
Yeah ikr, craazy🍷
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 hahahahaha
Well he was always really aggressive. Especially with poor Dexter. Dexter's such a nice quiet guy. Glad Doakes didn't kill him.

Right? It's a show about a serial killer with all kinds of graphic gore, but better censor the naughty words.
It's like censoring Deadpool
TH-cam will slam them especially since they are not TH-cam’s favorites

yeah he's always had feelings, shows how bad harry was as a father
It’s a big arc in the show. Dexter does have feelings, it’s just his insane father told him he didn’t and basically turned him into a murdering psycho
No what he said was if he had feelings it would be for his sister
@@AprilSilvers-py4zj no he's always had feelings, look at Brian, Rita, Astor and Cody. he feels super guilty after hurting them, have you seen the end of season 4 or not?
@@hazgoldbergLiterally without Harry Dexter wouldn't know what a "Good" Father is lmao.
9:31 the campy miami vibe embraced by hall really sells this show
I think if the show ended with Dexter turning himself in and being sentenced to life in prison, that would be a happy ending for him. He would no longer have to pretend. And he'd probably be famous. The public would probably praise him as a hero, and he'd exit the courthouse to a crowd of cheering people holding up banners to support Dexter (like he always dreamed). He'd be the most famous serial killer in existance. He'd be interviewed by everyone. He'd write bestselling books. He'd still work as a consultant for the police and FBI on blood spatter and criminal profiling. He'd probably teach seminars on on advanced methods of profiling serial killers. Psychologist would love to talk to him and learn about his psych, plus he'd actually be able to talk to a psychologist to work through his trauma. And he'd feel no temptation to kill because his code won't allow him to target criminals in prison.
I think that would have been a proper happy ending for Dexter. Also where Deb is alive and raising Harrison.
Buddy if Dexter ever got caught he would be in an electric chair before any of that happened
@@jonathanoneill8655 yeah, but there would be so much public support for Dexter that they'd likely make an exception and sentence him to life in prison.
@@jeramahia123no, infact they're not.
Dexter will die
It was so funny when he told Dexter that you don't even walk normal you walk like a lizard on ice he does glide 🤣 he knew something was up with dex from the start 😂
this show is always saying "Iam Dexter, I don´t have any feelings/social skills." when most of the time dexter has above average social intelligence and skills. An average introvert would be jealous of.
Lots of practice regarding social skills and as for the no feelings thing that's mostly true but partly in his head because he struggles with his identity and Harry didn't really help
He doesn’t have social skills. His neurotypical coworkers do half the work of the deception on their own. “Dexter would never kill criminals!”
He can read emotions and understand them
People like this would never exist in real life
Thats the point of the show : he is a psycho, unable to acknowledge his own thoughts.
I watched Dexter as I was going through Interferon Treatment for Hep C and that shit was no joke- I spent 15 weeks in bed. But Dexter was what I watched when I was able to stay awake long enough and I still love it. I swear this show and discovering Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly” album saved me…
I hope you're doing well now.

Oh, if only he would know back then 😂
I don't plan on watching the show so please spoil it for me, I am incredibly curious.
@@hailsaep13His dad turned him into a psychopathic murderer instead of sending an incredibly traumatised child to therapy.
@@joestevenson5568 Okay that's actually really sad.
@@hailsaep13 I mean, to be completely fair, they tried the whole 'intensive mental health treatment' thing on his older brother, and he just spent twenty years institutionalized before getting out and murdering dozens of transients and sex workers. If you take the show's interpretation of its world at face value, Harry saw a child destined to become a serial killer and tried to aim it towards specific, acceptable targets.
3:09 One of my favorite Doakes’ interruptions
14:39 That pause was his inner monologue screaming “Stop! Before you overshare!”
“stop grinning like a psycho and get back to work” 😂
Doakes's character grew on me. At first I saw him as a dick, but he was right about Dexter.
He was right but he was a killer too, his own code, but still. It must've been like Jack (The Narrator) & Marla in Fight Club; Doakes knew Dexter was a "tourist" when acting normal lol
Doakes absolutely was a dick.
@newperve yes but i still think he was right about dexter
Even his goddamn introduction sounds like a robot trying to emote XD Love(d) this show!
I was in high school when this came out. Was too nervous to watch it at first and then couldn’t stop watching lol. Less Gore than I thought it’d be.
Yeah it's not about the gore.
The original story is all about gore tho. Dexter is suposed to chop people apart with chainsaws like they did to his mother.
Guess the showrunner thought that wouldnt be nice on tv😂
Love his face after the frying pan 😂😂
15:35 this is me at any function that requires dancing 😭
"I don't even know what Hammer Time is....

Lol
they should have kept his character asexual imo
why
They showed growth. A character arc. And it also played into the fact that Dexter wasn’t a perfect psychopath like the doctor Vogel thought.
@@ImUpYourArse what? are you trying to say asexual isnt real? lmao thousands of autistic people would beg to differ
@@jdwylde7i guess but to me it felt out of place. it feels like he just decided to grow out of it. and also makes asexuality something to be fixed. imo he didn't need to find sex to grow as a character. i think him discovering the love he feels towards rita in a romantic sense accomplishes the same thing but way better and was just more compelling. i havent watched the show in like 6 years at least though so my memory isnt perfect
Not much of a show in that angle
Anyone, looking at Dexter for 0.3 seconds too long
Dexter: “it’s over…”
"I've never seen anyone so excited about a crime scene before. You like this blood shit a little too much." (suspicious side glance)
15:40 this scene absolutely had me cackling when i saw it, especially when harry just gave dexter thumbs up LMAO these moments really make you forget how terrifying dexter is, but the comedic timing is perfect
This person seems like a chill guy who lowkey doesn't gaf
Dexter's face at 5:57 LMAO
haha him dancing was the worst
Seriously gave me Ted Bundy vibes.
“I have no idea what ‘Hammer Time’ is…or how it differs from regular time.” Gets me every time
I still think Dexter had feelings he was not 100% psychopath if he was his family would mean nothing to him in bad times like trinity's family was to him. Even the doctor that made Dexter was surprised he showed feelings for others was small but his son Hanna and deb are ones he loved and cared for and would never kill even if they fit his code like Hanna did.
all psychopaths have feelings. they’re just not convinced that yours matter. they don’t see you. psychopaths are hugely emotional people even though that emotionality isn’t always demonstrated in a way we recognize.
That was the conflict of the Trinity series, would Dexter have ended up like him? lol:p
Psychopaths aren't emotionless, like the other guy said they just think "aight fk everyone else" but they actually mean it, and they don't feel some emotions or have the same inhibitions others have. For example if you are competing with someone for something, a normal person works to be beat the other person. A Psychopath thinks the most straightforward way would be to kill the other person and will be at first puzzled why noone thinks of that
7:45 One of the few times that I completely agree with Dexter 🤣
8:18 looks like both of them were about to break character lol
"I didn't create a monster. I was used by one."
Dexter is just every introvert except if the introvert was a murderer.
2:20 I love this little joke LMAO
I’ll never get over how good Jon Lithgow was in Dexter.
He won an emmy for his role as trinity
One of my FAV scenes was when Dexter went to his HS reunion and was dancing to Mc Hammer ' cant touch this ' when he did the typewriter dance I DIED!😂😂😂😂❤
4:22 The way he responded after is funny.
As the show progressed, I felt like Dexter was more human than I’ll ever be 😅
Never jump the fence if you’re not willing to face what’s on the other side is a great advice
Thx so much for these clips!!!
i always hear the TF2 Scouts "BONK" when it comes to frying pans lol
Michael C Hall is incredible as Dexter!! He's handsome, sexy n charming n super talented!! I watch Dexter over n over again just to watch his handsome face n brilliant acting!!

We were done dirtiest with the "New Blood" ending. They had so much potential to knock that out of the park, and somebody said no.
Oh GOD I’m going to have to watch it all again, aren’t I?
Nobody does it better than Dexter, even the cleanup service is free.
I love the subtle nod towards Dexter being a true psychopath at 2:39 when he doesn't flinch or jump. Apparently that's a trait, I've read and seen things on it - but I'm NO expert nor psychologist.
Might not have even been intentional 🤷♂️😂
Pretty sure he's a sociopath not a psychopath
I think there's an episode, maybe Doakes or the ex-husband, who pretends to punch him in the face, he never flinches or blinks
@@jmz2144u correct it was rita ex husband
@@sanicspeed1672there’s no real difference they’re just colloquial terms. “sociopath” seems to have a softer connotation for people but ASPD is the same disorder no matter what you call it.

Absolutely
"Stop grinning like a psycho" 😂
When I first saw Dexter lose his shit realizing Miguel used him, I thought it was for real until he walked in and that was just all in his head of how he feels.

This show taught me that Doakes and people like him think that if you don't react with unprofessional emotional volatility like he does, that people will think that you're the psycho one.
In reality a dude like Doakes would get fired from everywhere.

All Dexter fights next?
After season 5, the feel and story line of the series declined. The gem we had practically disappeared, the writers took a route with the story that was at times unreal and illogical for the characters, the villains actors selection declined significantly. What made Dexter a cultural Icon was Michael C Hall and the writing/acting of the first five seasons.
We need more Dexter's. City's would be a lot safer!!!!!!

@@AlexandraAndStuff Problem is you do know what your missing, youve had feelings before.
without feelings the relief from discomfort quickly fades in comparison to the realization that nothing you do provides a feeling of satisfaction, completion, direction purpose or value.
