Hey everyone! Unfortunately the audio didn't quite turn out as well as I hoped, but hopefully you're as excited that these are finally coming as I am! I got to use and test them quite thoroughly, so I will answer any questions about them that I'm allowed to, and when I have time :)
@@williamgollatz1911 price is something we're not allowed to discuss too much right now because that's still being determined. This is still a beta and if there's some final refinements that can affect the price. Currently though I can say it would be the most expensive glove on the market, but they're looking at having replaceable parts and these things are a technical Marvel. Worth the price imo
Plottwist: One member of my hema club got those and they started breaking after is second sparring. He regularly had to fix all the laces (which were meant to hold the fingers together) and now, two months after buying he had to send them to repair because of broken fingerparts. Before I forget: they don't fit with most forearm--protection.
It definitely looks bulkier that the hype leads you to believe. Still looks like a great HEMA glove though! I am very excited to try these out someday!
@@BurtsKurts I think a bit, I could barely fit the Konigs in a black fencer sidesword, but the progauntlets it wasn't a problem. But that might have something to do with the individual finger dexterity though.
I tried one at a local store the other day. The large was too small but even so I was impressed by the dexterity I had. It was even better than my usual gloves that fit. So I'm eagerly awaiting an xl size or the custom fit.
It is Saturday November 2, 2019 and pre-order is now up and in the states it’s going through purpleheart. They say they will get the first 200 pairs in May/June 2020. Wow this is unreal. Though I shouldn’t speak too soon
That depends on what you want to do, both weapon and intensity wise. Assuming you've haven't found a club, longswords require SPES Heavy or Sparring Glove gloves, sabers are often used with Red Dragons, sideswords/rapiers are used with pretty much any basic padded glove, smallswords are used with Olympic gloves. These are for full speed sparring, but you can "downgrade" as intensity goes down.
I still just want to know how much they cost. ProGauntlet has to compete with similar products like the Neyman Armadillos, the Koning glove, the Thokk Weaponmaster gloves, the Sparringglove 5-fingers, and the Neyman Inigo Montoyas. So far Weaponmasters seem like they're going to be the cheapest (unless the proposed cost has gone up).
I've used all of those except the Thokks, and I have to say the pro-gauntlets are leagues above the Armadillos and the others. It's not even close in regards to the level of dexterity and protection, so the progauntlets are going to be more expensive. Edit: I'm not actually allowed to talk about price for now, which is why we didn't talk about it in the video.
@@HEMASimian Interesting, I was wondering how they'd compare. And yeah, if they really do live up to their reputation a high cost is definitely justified, I'd just like to see if it's a "maybe if I save up" or a "never in a million years" kind of cost.
@@daaaah_whoosh One of the big things that to me help justify the cost is that they're making it a priority that you'll be able to order replacement parts if something breaks. So then there''s the one large investment, but then that's it you won't have to buy an entirely new one every single time something breaks.
@@HEMASimian I have been sparring with Cold Steel hand n half and their katana with Hockey or Lacrosse gloves for quite a while ... Dexterity is an issue especially with the hockey gloves. The polypropylene weapons definitely can NOT slip "inside" a groove on gloves, whereas HEMA blades might?? How would "your" gloves work against live/ sharpened blade?
Hmm, it sounds like their methodology for fitting gloves is going to be similar to how the Romans fitted lorica segmentata. It would also be interesting to see what other applications they get used for, potentially even special law enforcement applications like SWAT teams.
About: th-cam.com/video/TVPzxE4dZGY/w-d-xo.html in 4:27 there is another product on the market with that approach: Gauntl3d Gloves. And theirs philosophy about replacing broken parts is also quite similar. In the end they have plastic parts of your fingers in their's database. It's not the problem to print them again.. And the question: what is the width of the glove in the widest part. Is it possible to put them in basket hilted sword or sabre with knucklebow without issues? Can you have sabre grip or only hammer grip in them? Can you show us some photos of doing it?
I was able to put my hand in a Black Fencer Sabre, and Sidesword without issue. They are a bit thinner than lacrosse gloves. I could hold the sword in whatever grip I wanted, the dexterity was high enough that I could vary between sabre, hammer, thumb on the blade, and fingering the cross for sidesword.
I've been experimenting with lots of materials, I'm using kevlar, boiled leather and a few other materials. Still havent decided on a hard coating yet, i'm looking into polypropylene. I could upload some videos over the next day and show some. But I would prefer to wait until they look a little more clean, they have epoxy blemishes all over them and look quite ugly right now.
@@ianmiller4195 Really? I thought it lasted ages, but I must admit I have never done any kind of actual study on kevlar. I just assumed it was good and durable because it's so widely used in the military. What's wrong with it if you don't mind explaining?
Ultra violet light decomposes Kevlar, as long as you keep it out of the sun it should be fine. But I wouldn't want to only be able to use the gauntlets indoors
@@ianmiller4195 Oh that's not good, that's actually terrible. They would technically be used mostly indoors by people I guess. But what about open air competitions like Fight camp run by Matt Easton, that's outdoors, and reenactments and LARPers who might be potential customers also do their stuff outdoors. So this can't be used, thanks for telling me this, you probably saved me some weeks of failure and cash, cash that I don't have much of.

Cant wait to get my hands on them
cost? this was not even asked in the interview.
Hi! Thanks for the video! What is the weight like? also, What is the flap over the knuckles for?

CGI is getting rather good, I almost believed they were real gloves!
These will come out with Bannerlord
Where is it then ):
I guess it’s in early access for a select group

aged like wine
Ahh hasn't this comparison aged beautifully

Be quick ProGauntlet I'm getting old. I'll use that for my walking stick if it takes that long...
good to know these gloves will be out before half life 3
so that was a fucking lie
2025 is the year of the ProGauntlets!
2525 more like!
The best gloves for HEMA is a basket hilt.
Really happy about the customizable sizing. I think I will even stop making jokes about the release date.

It's smaller than a lacrosse glove, so they're definitely far from bulky.

Glorious HEMA Orange!

Are the joints strong enough to stop finger separation from a blow between the fingers?
as someone new to HEMA it would be super cool if these ever actually released. They look fantastic
Oooh, a real live unicorn!
Hey that’s pretty cool are these out yet I’m wanting to get into hema and am looking for some good gloves

Why not an epoxy reinforced kevlar to bring it back down the the smaller size
Did I miss it? Was there a release date yet?
Have you guys tried blackfencer's steel generation longsword? Im thinking about getting one and I'd like to see a review on how it does full contact.

Just found out about this via a documentary. Looks interesting!
Some close up, and naked vs gloved hand comparison next one an other would have been nice. Also what about the release?
Ouh, there is something I would love to try.
