This is all fantastic, thanks for showing. The problem i have is that it only applies to a single surface. For instance, i was asked to do this to a vehicle which has multiple surfaces and you cant do it. You cant join all the surfaces to make one as grasshopper will not let you select it as a single surface. If you do multiple selection, every surface is treated like a single surface and populates the pattern accordingly. Unless anyone can tell me how.

you can import your surfaces to rhino, there is some tools to transform multiple surface to one surface with deviation less than 0.05mm
I had trouble duplicating the bottom grid. I will try it again shortly. Newbie with grasshopper
