See how it's about bethel for you and the criticism they get. And they don't take any responsibilityfor any of it. That's the mode they live on. @@andrezzaf95 well judging by the things the most outspoken voices speak "YES", it's the same narrative from Justin Peters or John Mc where they speak with confidence and certainty "You know what they're doing? They are intentionally blah blah blah...". Which blows my mind that they know the motives of Bill's, or Bethel's heart. They haven't, to my knowledge, sat and talked with them, and even when people like Michael Brown reaches out to talk, they do not want to talk. So, how on earth do these critics, and please see the humorous irony here, men who don't believe in the Gifts of the Spirit for today move SO accurately in the "word of knowledge" that they know what Bill is thinking MORE than Bill is aware? That, my friend, is crazy-town!
If you watch the Strange Fire Conference Q&A where this panel rips apart anything charismatic, Mcarthur himself says "The charismatics are not part of the Body of Christ!", what a bold, and arrogant, statement. He even goes on to say, his own words condemning him, he states "What have they done for the social world. Where are the hospitals that they build? Where are the schools? the orphanages? They do nothing". It blows my mind that a man can dare to stand up and willfully deceive those who trust him by making unfounded, and untrue, statements like that.
Now, I have been connected with Bethel since 2008. They are the first to admit that they are not perfect. Their humility speaks for itself. However, just because you disagree with what they teach, or how they teach it, does not make it sinful or wrong or errant. Stay in your lane, and let them roll in theirs. Also, get the facts right AND have a ton of grace.

There are different positions held by different members of the leadership team. I've heard Dann teach a lovely sermon on the various eschatological perspectives throughout the history of the Church, and it was a lovely summary. He prefaced his message by making a statement along the lines of "the Church has a *really* poor track record when it comes to figuring out prophecy before it is fulfilled, so eschatology is a topic that we really ought to approach with a huge amount of humility."
That was a very refreshing statement to hear.

Are you trying to use verse 14 to say that the continuation of apostles in the Church is a wind of doctrine that we shouldn't be deceived by? I'm not sure what you include in your idea of "firstfruits" in this context, but Paul wasn't one of the twelve but was definitely an apostle. You said: @Free Agent - what causes you to think that God has stopped appointing apostles?"
Joseph Smith was called to be an Apostle. See how that works. Anybody can declare themselves to be an Apostle - means nothing. I recognize Paul I recognize the 12 - why? because the testimony of their Apostleship was inspired by the Spirit of God. Evil spirits even testify against your claim: “Jesus I know, and I know about Paul, but who are you?”
You said: "Also, what causes you to think the "sign gifts" have ceased? And which gifts does that include? Do you have any real scripture to support it? (If you're going to try to use 1 Corinthians 13:8-10, that isn't going to get you very far)"
Is the Bible that we have today 'perfect' and complete?
9For we know in part and we prophesy in part, 10but when the perfect comes, the partial passes away.
Did God reveal to Paul the 'Mystery' truth (that which had been hidden in God) all at once?
Do you believe the Canon of Scripture is still open? If people are still being given new truth from God...prophetic words from God...authoritative words from God...then how can it be closed? If private revelations agree with Scripture, they are needless, and if they disagree they are false...so why the need today for the gift of prophesy?
Did God forget to include something when the letters from Paul (thru inspiration of the Spirit) were written?
Doesn't it seem a bit odd that there is so much division in the church regarding sign gifts, miracles, healings, water baptism, and prosperity preaching? Wouldn't it be just like satan to get us to divide over issues that don't even apply to us today...given how anemic most are of God's Word? satan is orthodox in his thinking...he knows how to divide. Division in the Body isn't a work of God.
Either the Bible (that which is complete today...unlike in the early church) is the power of God unto salvation to everyone believing...or it isn't. If signs and wonders, miracles and healings were not enough to convince the majority to believe in Jesus' day...Moses' day...why do we think they are today? 2 Thes 2:9 says satan is a master of signs and false wonders...so why would we be surprised by their existence? Isn't satan described as the god of this evil age?
      Luke 16:
30“But he said, ‘No, Father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from the dead, they will repent!’ 31“But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.’”
No one's going to believe apart from the Spirit and gospel today. So what would be the purpose of sign gifts if faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ? ANSWER THE QUESTION!!
1 Corinthians 13:8-10: Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears.” In the KJV, the tongues “will cease.” In other words, at some point after Paul wrote 1 Corinthians, the gift of tongues would no longer be in use.
      James 5:14,15
Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. 15And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up.
It doesn't say it MIGHT make the sick person well it say it WILL make the sick person well. You people are a bunch of charlatans who know not the Bible - void of the Spirit. You take Scripture out of it's historical Biblical context and try to force it where it doesn't belong - and fail miserably. I would say repent - but i know that's a work of God "if perhaps" it please Him to do so.
As for healing...God still heals...but not with handkerchiefs...not with shadows...nor with gifts of healing...but Himself (Phil 2:27)
You said: "It seems like a bit of a silly debate to me, though, since I've either personally witnessed or heard first-hand testimonies of each of the gifts Paul mentions in 1 Corinthians 12. The reason I'm engaging in this conversation is to give you an opportunity to get set free from whatever line of reasoning has caused you to arrive at the wrong conclusion. I just wanted to be up front about that."
Your ignorance and arrogance is showing
Today, how is "Personally witnessed" the standard for truth? I have heard all kinds of things that doesn't mean they are true. The Word is truth - not the imagination and deceitful scheming of men.

This is a good video. Thank you. The only question I would have is about the application of the 7 mountain prophecy and theology. Kris talking about Jesus teaching that the church is the lamp of world and that it is impossible to light be on darkness be more. The reason we need a light is because the world is dark. Naturally speaking, 7 pm is not as dark as midnight you might not need as bright a lamp at 7pm as you might need at 12 or 1 am. Kris’s analogy and theology of the end of the age does not seem to go well with the biblical teaching. With that said, I agree that is not a reason to separate and I agree with what he said is important to go forward when we may not agree with all our theology.

Maybe I'm misinterpreting the conversation about the catholic church and the orthodox church (I understand there is a difference). My wife and her family were heavily indoctrinated by the catholic church. Upon having an encounter with Jesus Christ who opened her eyes she became completely aware of all the errors and wrong teachings of the catholic church. Needless to say, she cannot bring herself to even consider the Catholic church or it's members believers in Christ because of all that she experienced and the ever lasting effects it had on her family. In South America and Latin America in general the Catholic church has so much power and influence that every other house (perhaps more) you might walk into you'll find pictures and images of saints, the virgin Mary etc. Cartels and cartel members create and worship their own idols for the doing of evil (murder, rape, torture etc). Specifically they pray to their own saint Jesus Malverde and those that specifically murder to the "Saint of Death". They believe they can go to a priest and confess their sins and they're good with "little god" as they refer to Godin this manner. The catholic church has heaped so much evil on these people it's just unimaginable. All of these ideas came directly from the Catholic church. They don't know God, they believe in anything but Christ as the one and only savior. This is all the doing of the Catholic church and its teaching. I can't tell why you guys are soft on the Catholic church which has heaped so much death and destruction on third world countries.

54:40 Kris throws a subtle jab at the “Jesus movement” as an example of wrong biblical thinking. Not uncommon for Kris. He said it publically here on YT, so I call him out publically on YT. The “Jesus movement” or dare I say Calvary Chapel is the movement that taught me and discipled me for many years. A movement I eventually became a pastor in for 17 years before the Lord sent me to Bethel. (yes, Bethel is my church for the past 15 years. I love Bethel) To this day the “Jesus movement” is still going strong, preaching a sound gospel, and raising up tens thousands of beleivers around the globe. And they have a huge positive influence in the hundreds of cities they have churches in around the world. Kris is brilliant and I Love what he has to say, but as a Bethel member I wish he would stop it with the constant anti-Jesus people enuendo’s. It unesecarry.

I try to separate my self from movements/labels/names etc. When we think in the collective "I am a Bethel church goer" we let our emotions and feelings offend us. Same applies to politics, it's hard to correct our own because of tribalism (a natural human trait) and hurting people's feelings. I totally understand where you're coming from also as I go to a church where my pastor has subtly rebuked Bethel church and it's leadership on multiple occasions and it stings tbh because I grew up going to Bethel and Bill inspired me to read my bible and do the very thing people accuse them of not doing. I haven't told my pastor yet about my past, I'll wait patiently on God to do the rebuking for me as I prefer God handle it over my own will.

The Bible doesn’t teach dominionism and 7 mountain mandates. When a pastor is saying the greatest thing in life is to find your people, that’s simply not true. The greatest thing in life is to find Christ. The finished work of the cross. When God opens our eyes to the need for a savior because of our sin. Without repentance, there is no forgiveness of sins. Please preach the truth of the word of God. The gospel is the Power of God, onto salvation, not signs and wonders, which God still does every day. I pray for your church. Just like 2 Timothy says: they will turn away from hearing the truth and turn aside to myths. I pray that you turn back to the truth of God’s word

I see it as humility, not a defense mechanism. There are a whole lot of people in the world who are convinced they have perfect doctrine but yet disagree with each other. No more than one of these disagreeing people can be completely right, and it's possible that none of them are. Many of them probably believe that they are operating in discernment, too. Those numbers call for some humility, in my opinion. I believe that people can operate in authentic discernment in some areas and be powerfully used by God through that gift, but yet they might have a blind spot that they are unaware of, where their discernment is actually tainted by a prejudice of some sort. Humility is a very wise way to walk if you want to discover and eliminate your blind spots.

I understand it as another parable like the earlier one about the wheat and the tares (Matthew 13:24-30). Leaven everywhere else means false teaching, and the Bible is usually pretty consistent about the meanings of the pictorial language it uses. So the Church will become infiltrated with false teaching. We must know our Bibles well and always be on our guard to make sure we're not persuaded/seduced by false teaching.

I don’t fully endorse Bethel on all of their approaches but one of the major deficiencies I would arguablely defend is that they do not have academic and history seminary training. They are not an accredited school but that is something that they are not trying to be either. They are not trying to be a seminary; they are a church. That being said church history is one of the most important things to know for developing church leaders today, at least a basic foundation anyways.
