Fairfax County’s Office of Environmental and Energy Coordination held a “Personal Climate Action: A Carbon-Free Fairfax Webinar” to learn about ways you can save money, reduce your carbon footprint and adapt to changing climate conditions.

Federal tax credits are available now through 2032 for a variety of energy efficiency improvements.
Improvements may include transitioning to efficient electric equipment, such as heat pumps and heat pump water heaters, and efficiency measures such as insulation and air sealing.
Through 2034, there are also income tax credits for clean energy equipment, such as rooftop solar, wind energy, geothermal heat pumps and battery storage.
Dominion Energy customers in Fairfax County can benefit from rebate and incentive programs for getting home energy assessments, buying ENERGY STAR® appliances and adding smart controls for heating and cooling your home.
Dominion Energy also offers programs like REC Select and Dominion Energy Green Power to allow residents to pay an additional fee on their monthly utility bill to purchase renewable energy certificates and fully or partially match their electric use per month with renewable energy generation.
Finally for households that may need assistance with weatherization projects or help paying energy bills and equipment, there are 2 programs.
The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development offers financial assistance for weatherization projects to low-income households.
The Virginia Department of Social Services offers cooling assistance for bill and equipment payment to eligible low-income households.
