It did say on the tag that it's a good indoor plant. But to get the deep color it needs a lot of light. I'm very happy with it. But in my climate, it will not survive the winter cold. I plan on saving the root (Tuber), and store it in a cool dark location covered with some dry peat. Hope to have even more plants for next season. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! 👍👍

I cannot catch the name of the product you mention. What is the name please?

It is a Royal Hawaiian Diamond Head elephant ear plant. They can’t survive a winter freeze however I do live in a location that has a deep winter freeze. I cut off the tops. Then dig out the roots. Clean off all the dirt. I covered them with dry peat moss in buckets. Then kept them in a cool dark place. A basement or in my case I have a garage that is heated enough to not freeze. I planted them in late spring and from one plant I had 6 in year two! They like warm weather and won’t start growing until it’s warmer weather. But they grow fast!
Need fertilizer, sun, and water…. But when it’s cooler out, don’t drown them with too much water.

I think so too! For a first season plant and to be this successful surprised me! Last summer I purchased some rather expensive fertilizer specifically for Elephant Ear plants. It worked somewhat but not cost effective. Several years ago I played around with making my own lawn fertilizer but since that time, I've relocated / downsized and after being disappointed with the lawn care provided (Condo complex), I mixed up a brew with some tweaking of my own. At first I was just using some store bought fertilizer and it was just growing slowly. Once I poured my own mixture it like TOOK OFF! I literally have had people walking buy and stop and ask me about it. Next season I will divide the tubers and grow these all along my patio fence and get away from the plain green ones... Sorry to go on and on! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment! Follow along, I will probably do an update next summer 👍👍

Actually I mix up the formula myself. I have 3 videos in a group, here’s a link to the the series. One of them has a complete list of ingredients at the end of the video.
