  • Ulan Buh Desert is one of the eight major deserts in China. In Mongolian, "Ulan Buh" means "red bull". Two thousand years ago, it was still fertile, but now it is a mobile desert where not a single blade of grass grows. In the spring of 2016, Yi led a scientific research team into the Ulan Buh desert. Only a few months later, an oasis the size of two football fields appeared in the vast yellow sand.
Amidst the lush greenery and the fragrance of melons and fruits, the rebellious red bull showed a tame attitude in front of humans for the first time. To the surprise of many people, it was a group of mechanics experts who had nothing to do with ecology, soil, sand control and other majors who created this miracle.
According to statistics, China's desertified area accounts for 18% of the entire land area. If this technology is used to transform 1% of China's desertified land, more than 17,300 square kilometers of usable land will be obtained. For Yi Zhijian, who controls sand, this is a dream and an opportunity. Hi. Welcome to Hot Topics Time. In today’s video, let's take a look at this technology that turns the desert green!

Hats off to Yi Zhijian and the Chinese research team for the desert greening conducted in China to implement desert reforestation on a large scale have raised hopes for a great future ahead.
The technology is based on a paste made from plant cellulose, which can greatly improve the ability of desert sands to retain water, minerals, air, microbes and nutrients essential for plant growth.
The Chinese has developed a paste made of a substance found in plant cell walls that, when mixed with sand, is able to retain water, nutrients, and air: all the necessary characteristics of a fertile growing medium.
China has made efforts to fight the dust storms that have taken over parts of the country with the rapid use of afforestation.
    Well done.

They've used different techniques in different deserts & bad lands.
The Ma desert is completely maturing forest now. A large area of the Gobi planted to drought resistant plants. Phase 2) sustains light controlled grazing - herbivore dung does the same as the cellulose - can then mix crops with trees & controlled grazing.
Reclamation of fertile land & prevention of soil erosion now covers an area the size of Belgium on the Loess plateau.
      It's really exciting.

Hope the Chinese Authority also take a lesson of the wildfire that burns down thousands of square hectares of forest and land every year around the world, the Gobi desert and the inner Mongolia desert are landlocked area and far away from the sea to fetch water to put out the forest fire.@@judithafholland

Yeah... they did the same thing in California in America, turned it into an unsustainable "oasis" that is constantly trying to revert to the desert just inches below the surface. The second that water and chemical use are suspended it will revert to what the ecosphere can support, what was there before, a large arid desert.

of course the most fertile land in the world is in Indonesia because it is already a tropical region which is very rich in rain and the soil is volcanic and there are lots of mountains that can catch rainwater and if we look again from Indonesia the most fertile region is Java because of the concentration of volcanoes the highest in the world and I'm grateful from Java because all the plants in the world can grow here even if we plant a tree we only have to break a little branch and stick it into the ground and don't need to be covered with water and don't need fertilizer it's very indulgent

China used to have sandstorms every year, but in the last two years we haven't seen any sandstorms at all. The desert to oasis is really well done. You can't reach them, you need to contact the Chinese embassy for help as they don't do this for business, they usually just take some state grants and incentives.
