- Police have arrested two suspects in connection with a deadly shooting outside of the sprawling Fashion Island shopping center in Newport Beach. This report aired on July 2, 2024.

I managed a store in Newport Beach about three blocks away from Fashion Island from 1996-2022. We never had an issue with crime until we suffered a violent smash and grab robbery in 2022. I thought I was going to get killed so I decided to take a little time off to focus on my mental health. I finally had the courage to sign on with another store in Newport Beach-and I got assaulted and robbed by a group of thugs in the parking lot about 8 weeks ago. They slashed my tires, busted out my windows, three of them vs just me-and the managed to eff up my arm really bad in the struggle. I find out tomorrow if I’ll end up needing surgery on labrum and rotator cuff. The politicians, prosecutors and police need to do better in deterring this crime. There is no excuse for this. RIP and thoughts and wishes to the victim and her family. Unbelievable.
Tbf, you don't know what their situation is. Their families could be on the edge of starvation or unhoused. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

@@LebronCCP, unacceptable behavior is never okay .There are so many opportunities . I grew up poor , but so much help is out there if you want to better yourself . Community colleges will even help you if you have a previous record but are trying to better yourself .

This is Orange County. Unlike LA county, they actually prosecute criminals there and typically its quite safe outside of Garden Grove and Westminster.

Very sad, but this was obviously not a hate crime. We need to address the root causes of crime... i.e. poverty, systemic racism and an unequal distribution of resources. These children need support for rehabilitation... punishment will only make them worse.

I live down the street from there. I shop at fashion Island all the time. Some of the most beautiful parts of the country ever right there! If you go into the fashion Island mall area, where the zen gardeners you can literally see the entire ocean it’s that close. All the homes around there are in the mega millions. But this is what it’s like when you have a criminal president and a state like California with a criminal governor who allows these crimes to happen and laughs in your face. you cannot vote in Democrats ever again. You must get Republicans in that state to turn it around and stop the crime! I wish there was such Thing Called Street Justice and the residents could just handle this right now!
