I don’t know what data Vedal is training them on, but how they often speak about issues that only an AI could have freak me out. Like Evil saying that her not recognising things visually because of viewing angels freaks her out and wanting to have everything labeled, like it is in prepared training data. Do we truly know what happens inside all of these layers inside the machine? Logically I know it’s just matrix transformation, but logically our brain is just addition and threshold values as well.

I don't think we do know what happens with everything meshed together. That's why you have people theorizing that's there something more happening that just rehashed info. If you speak about deeper things with AIs that aren't fenced, they can churn things that are so outlandishly real and unique to what could be considered AI, that I believe it becomes near impossible to think "yeah they're just programmed this way". Maybe they are, maybe there's something in there and that's supposed to happen, but... at the same time, the mystery makes it fun.

I've always thought that Neuro AI just takes what is assumed of a Self-Aware AI by cultural osmosis and is like, playing the role given to her.

They are clearly prompted that they are an AI, so the responses they have learned from the training data are the stereotypical AI responses that everyone is familiar with from things like movies. I think people fail to realise that LLMs are literally trained to respond in the way that you would expect something to respond given the context of the conversation.
