    Saw them 3 times live ... then realized that we are at their mercy as far as new music. I keep hoping that a single will be dropped each Thursday at midnight, but, so far, nothing. I know they are busy with other things (baby, new Ida Mae music, Greta summer festival schedule).

      It’s a collective featuring Jake Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet and Chris Turpin from the duo Ida Mae on guitars and vocals. They call themselves Mirador and they opened for a few Greta Van Fleet shows this spring. Unfortunately they haven’t officially released any music yet. We’re still waiting!

    I'm glad these guys got together. Tbh I can only listen to a few songs of GVF cause the vocalist is just too much for me but not to say he isn't hella good, just too much for me, but the guitarist is top notch and exactly my style. Keeping rock alive between all of them is what's important! 🤙🤘

      Joshua is the perfect front man for GVF So loving and kind. Growing his lovely white roses to give to fans during shows Designing all his amazing jumpsuits “Sacred the Thread” is about them And his outstanding vocal performances I’m so grateful for them

      Not much into GVF mainly because of Josh. This really rocks.

    This proof positive the GVF was a Led Zeppelin tribute-like band; Jake's guitar and vocal style are certainly different here. Tribute bands are fine but being honest about it goes a long way towards gaining support; I think GVF would have gotten less hate if they owned up to it. On the other hand, Jake and the rest might not have gotten this opportunity to shine with original music. At the very least, GVF might have not been pigeonholed like they have been if they varied their sound by giving Jake more of a presence; they still could if they wanted to. Still a lot to look forward to but good job here

      how is jake pursuing a side project "proof positive" of that? they've never denied the zep influence and have always been honest and shown them respect (even on their wikipedia page, jake said he studied page intently for a year), but are they obligated to make an announcement before every performance or interview about how indebted they are to zeppelin when they clearly have many more influences going on, especially at this point? it's silly. greta was also jake's creation, so if he wanted to do this style with them, he would have.

      @@catchinglooks The phrase in my comment, "Jake's... style is... different..." seems pretty self-explanatory to me. Being influenced by an artist is one thing; trying to emulate them is another; trying to emulate them but denying it is yet another. That last bit is what I observe as being the crux of any controversy regarding GVF; they don't deny the influence but they do deny that is the sound they were going for. They do well as band that sounds exactly like Zep if they were a tribute band (which I personally think are overrated, but people like it, especially at the level that GVF play, even if their songs are original to themselves). It's pretty obvious that that's what they were going for, which is fine but by not making that explicit, they draw a lot of hate. If they were truly trying trying to do their own thing, they should have been aware (as musicians) of how they would be compared to other artists and strived to differentiate themselves from them but they don't really do that; Jake's side project proves they could if they wanted to.

      @@johnsmithy3147 i guess i just strongly disagree with that take and think it’s super surface level. have you listened to their whole discography? the similarities were very much there early on as they usually are with most bands, but even on their full length debut and especially on the battle at garden’s gate, there is so much that sounds absolutely nothing like anything zeppelin did or would ever do (age of man, brave new world, heat above, my way soon, the barbarians, stardust chords, trip the light fantastic, etc. etc.). especially now, i simply hear a band influenced by blues and prog rock and some world music, not necessarily by a specific band. unless you talked to them personally, i think it’s funny you claim to know “what they were going for” or how they should explain their influences. and a bit ironic when zeppelin were actual plagiarists! oh well. 😁

    • @johnsmithy3147
      @johnsmithy3147 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@catchinglooks That's fine to disagree, and I have listened to several of their newer songs and still get the same impression that I've iterated here; I would further argue that that's the reason why Jake is branching out. You're right that I can't really know what their true intentions are without speaking to them personally (assuming they'd be honest with me) but I can infer that from the music they release; based on that, they want to be a Zeppelin tribute band, albeit producing original songs. Being honest and upfront about that would make any haters less relevant; since people are going to hate anyway, no matter what they do, there's no sense in hiding what their true intentions are. Furthermore, it's funny to use past controversies of certain artists to justify current ones that have no relevance. I've not accused GVF of ripping off anyone and I've never heard such from anyone else

    • @catchinglooks
      @catchinglooks หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@johnsmithy3147 it has a ton of relevance, since the main criticism the haters have is that they're "ripping off" led zeppelin! at least you acknowledge they're writing original songs, but i'm still struggling to understand how that makes them a led zeppelin tribute band or why they need to label themselves as such. they're playing blues rock. so, yeah, of course it's going to sound like some of the biggest blues rock bands ever, including zeppelin. that's what constitutes a genre. so many indie rock artists, pop stars, and rappers sound identical to each other and no one seems to care as much about that. good talk though!
