Nothing like a good shopping spree for parts! Love building baluns and antennas. You and I have the same problem Jack! And looking forward to seeing you make it on to 80m too!
Adam, thanks! I have a few antenna plans, and I am not sure if they will work at all, but that is the fun part. I hope to get the 80-meter antenna extension completed before the snow falls. Thanks for watching. 73s
Antenna nut here, HF transmitters and antennas, were my specialty in the Navy. I hoover up any videos about them and have made several myself. Good video. 73's🎙KD9OAM🎧
Clear heat shrink is good for putting labels on coax, so you know where the other end is... If you're going to talk toroids, list the mix. If you don't list the mix, the rest of the info is useless. The Smokin' Ape is a great channel for learning about torroids and matching transformers. If you're going to use cheap chinese coax, at least test the db loss ahead of time, so you don't blame the antenna under test for transmission line losses. Remember frequency has a lot to do with db loss as well in coax. If you 3d print forms, avoid PLA filament. It warps in the sun. There are several choices that work well. Read up on them ahead of time.
Thanks for the advice. The Toroid is listed as this: ALIXCE T130-2 T-130-2 Toroid Iron Powder Ferrite Core. I am looking to buy the 3-D printed items at this point. I don't know if I will get much use out of a 3D printer. Thanks for watching. 73s
3d printing comes in handy with the ham radio hobby! Bambu Labs printer if you just want to print. Ender if you want to learn all the gory details 😃 73!
I go round and round with my Elmer who is right up there with Tesla. “But that’s not efficient…” “But it works… or I think it should.” “And l don’t have a pot of gold.” Not that better or best always breaks the bank. You are right on. It’s about the experiment and the joy or defeat. Learn, celebrate, back up and try again. 73. KF0RGL
I feel the same way as you do. I like building antennas and seeing what works and what does not. When building home antennas, I have even more time to test them out. Thanks for watching. 73s

For heat shrink, you want to buy glue lined shrink tubes. Not just plain ones.
Thanks for the tip. I will check it out. Thanks for watching. 73s
@@MyHamRadioJourney 100% on the glue lines heat shrink!
It will make your connections so much more secure and weatherproof.
Harbor Freight. Just sayin’.

Newer Enders just print now. Not like the old days. And 1/3 the price of a Bambu.
@@MadGoat glad to hear Enders are catching up... i have 2 e3pro's running Klipper
