Just got this exact model recently and really like it. Usually I need to go down the compatible ink cartridge route with other inkjet printers I have owned as the cost of the original manufacturers ink cartridges makes them far too expensive. But with the EcoTank system, I can stick with the original manufacturers ink, as they are really cheap, and you get lots more ink in the bottles than you do in an ink cartridge. For example, a yellow cartridge in my old Brother printer held 7.5 ml of ink and prints out 600 pages. The yellow ink bottle that comes with the ET-2850 is 70 ml and prints out 6000 pages, so that's equivalent to 10 ink cartridges on my Brother printer. Also, it's impossible to put the wrong bottle on the wrong tank, as each bottle has a keyed end, which matches the slot on the respective ink tank.

does it try to make you subscribe to anything like HP and other printers do? or download crappy proprietary software?
