Oh yes. Flash vs Jaedong in 2024. Flash's record on the channel now goes to 99 wins and 50 losses; with one more win Flash will have twice as many wins as losses!
It was this rivalry that initially got me into Brood War esports. HDStarcraft posted a Jaedong v Flash game like 12 years ago and it is, to this day, one of the greatest matches of all time.

Your mini tirade around the 19 minute mark about zerg players ignoring static defense echos a thought i had recently... I used to play a lot of Brood War like 20 years ago, gave up video games guy the last 15+ years and then started binge watching replays on your channel a week ago, looking for good Zerg builds since i don't remember mine at all lol. The amount of pro games I watched where Zerg players get wrecked by corsairs, DTs, but never make a single spore colony amazes me. We see Terran players build missile turrets like crazy at the thought of mutas, 'toss players rely on phiton cannons, but zerg players seem happy to send long lines of units into heavily fortified bases to get slaughtered well before they reach the critical mass required to have that super effective swarm effect.
Watching those guys, plus the way that Flash and Light play Terran makes me want to start playing Brood War again using Zerg, but copy the way they play Terran (except I'm super rusty and was never that great to start with lol)
It was hilarious to see a blue dot go to right corner and see drone count drop.
I feel like dong is not quite as good as he used to be our other players have just figured him out. He’s pretty predictable, but he’s he’s pure greatness. I couldn’t come anywhere near not even a little bit close. Enjoyed watching jay dong for years. Those ling rushes are legendary

@@KINKYmustache good stuff. He stills blows my mind. When I was at my best my APM was around 120. I do good to hit a 100 NOW Probably average around 85

The thing here is that even if Queens would be ready like minute ago - so they will be able to spawn once and retriet - Zerg still need to deal with like 20-30 Goliaths (and reinforsments, ofc), and he had like 4 hydras left))
Queens are fine in skirmishes around middle, or even if Terran sitting on his own bases in defence, but when Terran already pushing, and Zerg defending near HIS bases - Queens mostly are just dead supply, especially if Zerg is not economically up over Terran
Guess win here was mostly economic - that one Vulture run by and kill 12 drones, putting Zerg from 40 into 27 - that slowed him down too much, like for 1-3 minutes at least in compare how he would develop without that blow

I hear you mention you picked up the game in 1998. I saw school colleagues playing this game back in 1999/2000 and thought "not my kind of game". Boy, was I wrong... I prefer LAN games because I can look at my "enemies" in the eyes, unfortunately last time I played a LAN match was aeons ago...hopefully I'll be playing lots of matches when I retire in about a quarter of century from now!

stating that Jaedong is passed his prime is a huge understatement. Most of the games i've watched you cast the last year or so featuring Jaedong have been anything but impressive
Man that pissed me off that he quit in the second game. He didn’t even get to use his queens and I think lings would’ve been more effective than hydras versus tanks and goliath.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why he was fighting those goliath that seems like a pointless battle to me. He could’ve literally took out 10 to 15. Workers He could’ve probably took out almost all of the workers because the position of the goliath steady and he got Valkyries, I haven’t finished watching so he will see where it goes. I feel like he should focused on the workers.
I was thinking the same thing ... there were juicy SCVs just south of his muta group, and for a few seconds no goliaths in sight. Why, Jaedong? why?

JD always seem to have some arrogance in his play which he ends up losing many games unnecessarily. When he adds a little defense to his game, he wins them easily.
Against Flash, JD looks and feels mediocre .But hey maybe this will awaken that ol murderous fire in him..
