passing is easy, what makes it dangerous is when the slow driver you're trying to pass speeds up as soon as you change lanes!!

I almost got into an accident once because the car I was trying to pass kept matching my speed (speeding up and slowing down) and wouldn't let me back in the lane. He was doing it intentionally. I had to dump my car in the ditch on the other side of the road to avoid the vehicle coming at me.

That's why I'd be ready on the brakes, fall back behind them, and then swerve check next time I have an opportunity to pass

Q:How can you recognize that you are far ahead enough of the car you are passing?
A: When you see the whole car in your internal rear view mirror.

I just finished a highway drive, I just want to get my message out there. IF YOUR NOT PASSING the car infront of you give lots of room when following for drivers that want to pass you and the car infront of you, you make the roads dangerous when you make a person pass 2 or even more cars in a row. If I need to sneak back into your lane I have to use the brakes as you made such a small gap to get in safely, increasing the chances of a bumper to bumper at high speeds or even worse a head on collision. Theres no benefit in following close in general, unless you are planning to pass someone.

I totally agree. I've had to pass 3 cars in a row that were following very closely but not passing. Would've been easier and safer to pass them one at a time. Even if you're going to pass, you're better off leaving plenty of distance because you can start accelerating while still in your lane before going into the oncoming lane.

@@sdott9751 So I'm saying "leave room if your not going to pass to make everyone's drive safer." Your saying "well if there is no room don't pass because people have their right to follow as close as possible and not pass, they have a right to make the road dangerous". Your right sir, I have a very narrow minded view, you probably drive in the left lane and say I'm driving the speed limit type of person as well..... Its not a written rule, its just courtesy.

    • @sdott9751

@@thomaswong1562 the roads only dangerous cause ur trying to pass when someone is making it difficult to pass. They make it bad and the people attempting to pass make the situation worse. Just drive behind them if u can't pass.

@@sdott9751 You seemed to miss my point completely. If I spoke with you in person you would probably realize how simple of a point I tried to make. But simple things are the hardest things to understand. especially on the internet. Feel free to reread my one sentence. " IF YOUR NOT PASSING the car infront of you give lots of room when following".

Someone passed me yesterday into oncoming traffic, causing me, and the two cars in the opposing lane to swerve to the shoulder to prevent a collision. He also did the same thing to a car ahead of me, although the oncoming traffic was a little further away. He was moving to quickly for me to get a tag number. Hope that jerk doesn't end up killing somebody someday.

I use this when passing tractors and slow drivers. Here's a hint. Increase speed quickly by selecting a lower gear.

another issue is the speed i need to pass the car quickly, if a cop catches you going 20 over passing (even if you were gonna move over after you pass) they will pull you over and give you a ticket.

Russia only has one passing rule:
You must be driving faster than the car you are overtaking.

So I got a question. How fast can you go to overtake? In my case the speed limit was 70. And I'm pretty sure the other car accelerated to around 76 as soon as I started to overtake. So I had to go almost 90 to make it reasonably quick. Any comments? (The reason for overtake they were slow in the corners.)

Apparently a lot of drivers in my country don't know how to pass safely due to a number of reasons. Could be even due to lack of attitude/skill apart from ignorance.

What's so dangerous about passing at railroad intersections? And passing isn't that hard. Just the other day, we and 4 other cars passed somebody one after another.

If the car your trying to pass starts speeding up ride their ass and flash your high beams to give them epilepsy, therefore they won’t have any choice but to pull over to have a seizure giving you room to pass safely

it is not useless at all. you said it they "should already know that" but for god sake explain to me why all those dumbasses drivers on the road? they are trained to act like robots so they lack common sense. i wouldn't mind uploading a video about turn signals because ,, go on the road and see it by yourself.
