I stuffed plastic grocery bags inside mine and it worked :) I also used yarn instead of twine

So cute and easy to create. I think I will put just enough rice in the bottom so it will not fall. Then I will add fiberfill to the rest of the sock. If giving one of these to a very small child I am afraid of chocking should the sock come undone. An infant/child (between infant to 3) can a bit rough with small toys. I made this for my mom and dad for Easter...... it was a very fun project that I will do again.... it was easy for me....I'm 11 btw. It's easy and the materials are mostly the normal things u should have at home

Can I use anything other than rice?
Yes - you could use tiny pebbles/gravel or add something heavy into the bottom and stuff with pillow stuffing. That way it would still stand up x

Can I use stuffing instead of rice
yes, that would work really well. They wouldn't have the weight and so may not stand up as well though. Another alternative would be grit but sand might come through the fine holes in the socks
I used cushion stuff and it turned out so cute and it's the best option for kids
