Awesome! I also went over the study material and after passing the AZ500 I'll get the AI-900. Can't wait to hear your feedback after the exam.
    Good luck!
AI love it or hate it.....learn it to some level. Cheers!🎉

You've got this, Oni. Take a couple of deep breaths on the day of the exam. Score and win, just like Jude Bellingham's incredible bicycle kick in the 95th minute of stoppage time! Good luck 👍🏾

Hi Caleb, do cloud engineers often have to do out of hours work? In my current industry of network engineering, I often have to make changes to the network out of hours - say after 22:00. I find this particular aspect of the role to be quite difficult, because it often leads to my having to stay up very late to complete some of this work, which then results in my sleep pattern and daily routine being constantly disrupted each time I perform one of these changes ... I'm hoping then that if I do decide to transition into cloud engineering (I think i most likely will at this point), that I won't have to perform similar out of hours changes!

It’s a great question, and I can only speak from my own experiences I’ve certainly had very occasional out of hours work.
It’s something that will depend on the company and the majority won’t enforce this but may give the option if looking for extra pay.
When I have worked out of hours occasionally this has involved making live changes and project work. In my previous role there was also an incident response aspect/ on-call that I opted out of but that may be because it was a cloud security role.

I think I can answer this from a different perspective. If you're salary , depending on your state, they can tehicnally work you as much as they want. My last employer said (as if to be genoerus) "tehicnally we don't have to give you a break unless we work you for 10 hours." They also did this bait and switch which is fairly common where they give you an hourly rate for your salary, but then they actually work you can extra 30 minutes to an hour per day (depending on whether your break is paid or not) . So for example, I had an hourly rate, but my hours were actually 8:00 to 5:00 with a 30 minute break. They later changed this by a whole 30 minutes (but called it an hour we were getting back but....okay....).
This can tell you a lot about a job you're getting into. So if you go hourly, you want to ask these types of questions up front. If your breaks are paid, or if they try to get you with "the pay is low because it's entry level" when you transition, these are traps (I learned this the hard way). They will ONLY pay you what you're worth if you prove yourself over a long enough period of time, which usually means going the "extra mile" and working longer without pay. So for these situations, just put in your 2 years, find a better offer, give them a chance to pay you what you're worth and when they say no (and they will if they're this type of company), then you put in your two weeks notice, and how you cost them about 2-4 your yearly salary in turnover costs. They will never learn from this mistake that has clearly been laid out in research for decades now, so take solace in that.
If you're hourly and it's not in your working agreement, it's unlikely and even if so you should be paid for that extra time spent. However, it should be in your working aarramgent from the start if this is the case, and you may be "on call" which you should be composted for, or you can set that as a boundary if you're in a position too. If or when you transsion, get this all ironed out, and make sure it's in some form of writing. Also know your states firing/layoff laws a little bit, that will help you a lot.
      Hope it helps!

why there are only Azure AI Fundamentals and Associate Certificates, but no Expert Certificate. Does it mean that you cannot go to high level with this path?

The AI-102 isn't really worth your time unless you are already at a company that works with that tecg stack, but they're not widely enough used so you can better use your time on other certs. Most places getting into AI are either using Gen AI libariers or Machine learning solutions.
The AI-900 is an okay cert if you plan on getting into ML and you want something to help prepare you for the DP-100, which it seems like it does a fair bit. Honeslty though the AI-900 is a better prospect than the AI-102 for most post. If you're staying on the Azure stack, after you get the AI-900, go for the DP-100, then go for the dp 203, or you can switch to AWS/GCP after the DP-100 if you want to show off being multicloud. Just my opinion from my experience and research.

Hi Caleb, what are the prospects like for fully remote (work from home) cloud engineer roles? I'm thinking mostly about entry level roles and roles with 1 or 2 years experience

I'm sure a certain man once said "no more fundamentals" 😂 seriously, though good luck with the AI-900.
Let's hope AI doesn't take too many jobs. Otherwise, less of us procrastinating humans.
I do wonder how often the AI-900 exam will need updating, though due AI being ever evolving. But Azure itself is always changing, so there is always something to learn.
I gained AZ-900 and SC-900 in June and am now studying AZ-104, for which I hope to be exam ready by the end of August. Then, to try and secure an Azure Admin or Cloud support role.
