I have 9 EEs and they lay a range from bright robin's egg blue to dark olive with brown speckles. Most of the in between are a rage of pale blues and greens. I got mine from Hoover's hatchery and boy, they are some angry looking birds but they lay a TON of eggs!
How big are EE’s eggs? We just got EE’s a week ago for the first time. Ive had Rhode Island Reds and Black Sexlink in the past so I’m familiar with the egg size of them.
@@CFarnwide mine lay a range of medium/large. Most of mine lay significantly bigger eggs than my orpingtons, and 2 of them lay jumbo sized eggs that are too big for the holes in my "large" egg carton 😳 I haven't figured out which ones yet! One thing I found interesting was that my orpingtons started out laying very small eggs that gradually got bigger as the hens matured. My EEs didn't do this. They just started off laying big eggs. They took about 7 months to start laying whereas my orpingtons took 5.
thanks for the information gorgeous i was given 3 dozen eggs yesterday that were all green and i have never seen a different colored egg other than white and brown eggs
My easter eggers have a different sound than other chicks, the orps and barred rock babies have a cute peep and the easter eggers have kind of a raspy sounding chirp and very vocal when they are upset about anything
When you say mix one chicken with another it sounds like chicken soup. To clarify, a mix would mean a hen with a specific color characterstic with a rooster that has a different color jene. Is that what you mean?
Hello. I had a rooster with a beard given last year and he's dark orange/brown and really small and tall shape and he's bread with some of my other hens which I don't know what they are but I now have about five hen's with beards and I was wondering what breed they are and I watched another video of yours saying which hen's lay blue and green eggs what brought me to this video. I've got loads of rare breeds because I take unwanted birds. It's just o don't know what they ate to advertise them or check how much to sell them for. I've been selling hens and Muscovy Ducks for £10 each just to get the flock thinned out a bit but feel I would probably be able to sell them to rare hen breeders better if I knew what they are because people probably look for certain types. I've got lots of videos on this channel of them so if you could take a look and tell me what they are in the comments please that would be much appreciated.👍💚💛❤️
Check combs and wattles - roosters will develop faster and be larger. Look for thicker legs on a rooster and well as hackle and saddle feathers. Check out this article for more details: mranimalfarm.com/how-to-sex-a-chicken/
Hi thanks for all the great info. I just got four 4 months old pullets that are supposed to be Easter eggers but they look and act very sporty. They have no tufts. Their tails look really big for their small bodies. Have you ever had Easter eggers who are very fast and fly great? Thanks so much. Appreciate your input.
When you say very fast, you mean the run around? Some Easter Eggers we have had have been flighty or skiddish. Most are friendly, but it depends on what breeds made them and how they were handled/raised. Being a smaller/lighter bird, in general they can be a little faster and fly a little better than heavier breeds.
Hi thanks for the reply. I guess that u am just concerned that my Easter Eggers pullets are game birds instead. If you don't mind, may I send you a few pictures to take a look? Thanks so much!
their necks are so FLOOFY

Bummer they're angry. Ours have all been a little flighty, but overall friendly.
They do lay beautiful eggs though.
@@MrAnimalFarm oh, ours are friendly. They just look angry! Lol. 😁

@@CFarnwide they're a medium sized egg. Typically a bit smaller than RIR eggs.
Well done. I like the idea of a mixed breed and want to look into other mixes but this kind I think is really good.
Really good stuff!! I am definitely getting some EE or OE.
Added 2 EE and 3 OE to brand new flock totalling 9! The EE and OE by far have the most interesting personalities.

Thoughts on having barred rock and EE together?
Both should do well together. We have had both in our flock and they do just fine :-)
How do you tell the roasters from the hens?
love your work
Great video, I'm interested in Easter Egger hens for my backyard. I was wondering if they tend to be very vocal or if they are more quite.
We haven't found them to be particularly noisy.
Mine aren’t very loud either
well mine does not scream a lot but when they do they go on forever and are very loud

Mine are super chill
Got 6 blue Australops, 3 black Australops,& 1 Golden wyalott e.e. & 1 Rooster per each 5 hens!!
This explains lots thanks

How many eggs 🥚 per year do they lay?
This can vary from bird to bird, typically they average around 4 eggs per week which is just over 200 eggs a year.
Great info thank you!
I have 4 of them I got them 4 weeks ago
Do they hatched there eggs?
Any Brits out there know what breed of chicken lays those speckled eggs you see in UK markets?
This video was very helpful because I just got some “Easter Eggers” yesterday!
Went to tractor supply and said I want 5 chicks and these were the ones I got.

@@priscilladu5365 sure, I can take a look. Since Easter eggers are mixed breeds they don't all look the same, so I can only give you a best guess :-)
