2 Ways to Import Full Songs and Record Vocals to them in CAUSTIC 3.2

- This is a nice and slow, easy to follow tutorial on how to import any song into Caustic and record vocals to it. They must be in WAV format to be able to import into CAUSTIC 3.2
*SOMETHING I SAID WAS WRONG*
You can absolutely listen to your imported song in Caustic as you record your vocals. I said you had to listen with another device as you recorded your vocals but all you have to do is press the spacebar (computer) if you are in the WAV editor to hear your song. For a phone you probably just have to press play, then go to the WAV editor.
Not sure what you corrected but the way I do it is just hook up a condenser microphone like a BLUE through the USBC jack (my phone has no aux jack) and use Bluetooth headphones to hear my track playing. No external device needed.
I originally didn't know you could just hit spacebar and play your Caustic track within the wav editor. Or on a phone I guess you could just loop the region of the song and have it playing as you go into the wav editor so the music will be playing.
Good video! I feel like Lester from gta was talking me through this lol
Thanks for taking time to share this information for us all to understand this method. It is greatly appreciated.
Yeah it's a bit tedious but its completely possible.
@@brockhardentertainment Yes sir my brother but hey because of you and people like you that take the time to make learning videos like this for us all to watch and learn by watching turns the tediousness into simplicity. You are greatly appreciated.
💯❤️
@@chordellio9538 Thank you for saying that. I've poured hundreds of hours into making these videos and responses like these make it worth it.
@@brockhardentertainment Yes Sir my brother. You're more than welcome.
i can't tell you how much i appreciate this video. i've been totally overwhelmed with adding vocals to my music, having no idea where to even begin. i also appreciate the explanation of what the little lock is for! thanks!!!!!!!!
Adding vocals is extreamly tedious and the absolutly worst with Caustic. Plus the App just loves crashing while im foing stuff in the WAV editor. I use Windows and its probably crashed around 40 times this past year. Save often!
Wow! I didn't know that the vocoder can handle an entire song sample!
I love it very interesting ,it open my thoughts to get understand my music song language
Thanks so much, it really helped me a lot❤️👌
Very helpful tutorial video. Answered all the questions I had about this issue. Was exactly what I needed to learn and it was presented in a simple yet detailed manner which was easy to follow. Thanks! Subscribed!
Awsome, thank you!
thanks for this video, am back on TH-cam after 8 months and you've already published 100+ videos and you have passed 1k subs, congrats, you might not see this cause you might have thousands of comments but when you do let me know please
good man, i was hoping you would come back!
Great tutorial bro haven't used this app in so long and I started messing around with beats again and I wanted 2 see how to record...ashamed qe have no update in years but still a great app
Thank you, great lesson!:)
"It starts now" - your video. Cool 😎
Great tutorials, thanks🔥🔥🔥
Thank you
Man this helps alot.
Great informative video, thanks man!
dope..thanks man.

You need to turn the eq levers all the way down, then it will sound normal in vocoder.
Thank you for the input. I'll check it out.
Yup, I found it quite by chance.
It sounds like the vocoder for me when I record from the standalone WAV editor or the beatbox. Is there a setting or adjustment I need to make? Thanks
Turn Down all the EQ's on the character control of the vocoder (all the way down or you will get a synth tone with your sample) and turn dry up all the way.
Nice teaching
the find tempo feature will only work correctly if you chop a perfect loop out the full sample, but if you don't want do chop a loop, then you can just tap the tap tempo while you are listening to the sample to find a correct tempo and thats how is done correctly everytime !
Oh ok, I've never really done that before, I've always just used the bpm detection and its given me accurate readings every time but the samples have always been either 2 bars or more. You have to be careful on what your bpm is set when you sample, if you put the wrong bpm in, it wont play the whole thing. The beat I use in this video is one I made and it's true bpm is 78, if you open the .Caustic, it will say 78 but if you try to open a new project and try sampling it, it will only work if it's set to 156. I'll have to check out the chop method you mentioned and play around with it. Thanks for the input.
@@brockhardentertainment just make sure to have the Metrodome turn on press play before going to the tap tempo window to find the tempo of the sample !
"This is a sample...a stupid example of how to play vocals in a caustic song..." 😂 nice. TY for the tutorial :)
Nice tutorial, please can you help me where I can get good drum sample for caustic 3 and even nice sample sounds like piano, pad synth and many more.
There are tons of Drum kits and all sorts of presets for most machines on the Single Cell Software website. Here is the link to the presets (you have to create a profile and log in to download but it only takes a second)
singlecellsoftware.com/caustic/presets
Good👍👍
So I was loading a Acapella into the pcmsynth just like what you did,but when I went to lay it on the grid ,it only play the first 5sec and not the 2 mins full Acapella
I would personally just take a few minutes and break the acapella into 8 bar segments in the wave editor and then load all the different segments into the PCM, assigning each segment to a different key.
Thnks👍
On android I no longer can see the parent tab is there a way that your know of to access the parent directory? I tried the number pad code but it didnt work.
This seems to be a common problem when people upgrade their phones. A few different people have posted questions about this and no one seems to know a solution. I would email Mike on Singlecellsoftware.com. He is the one who runs the website and he's really good with technical stuff as he helped debug Caustic. His username is Mike, just type the name in the search and his profile will come up under users and you can email him. You must have an account with single cell to do this but its free.
idk why but it doesn't show any wav files when I am choosing the sample, every folder is empty
All this time using Caustic and I never knew what the lock was for.
Do you know what the S does on the left side?
Also, if you select Tools, then Spectrum, you get the frequency line, which dances around if you press play.
But does it do anything else ? Or is it just there to look good? There is no way of altering the frequency in the spectrum screen is there?
LOL seconds later you explain the S too. Nice one.
@@themanfromvolantis The spectrum analyzer is for seeing what is actually happening in the sound, so you can see how much energy is being produced and at which frequency. It should change if you manipulate the sound in a dramatic way. Sometimes it changes are hard to see as it's not the best analyzer.
Shout out sti

Maybe you tell everyone later but some devices with very low memory wouldn't handle anything up to this point if mode isn't yet switched to sample mode note on/off..
I'm not able to navigate outside of caustic 3 for some reason. The back button doesn't even show initially until i click something. Is there a way around this? :/

FWIW I only heard the crackle afrer you mentioned it
I was finished one of my song and I try to rootkey it but only two beats work on the keyboard like example: C1 D1, C2 D2 I try the next one but it's playing the shame beat to the next button
You need to make sure you assign every sample with a HIGH and LOW key, not just the root key. The first sample you assigned more than likely has a high/low key that goes up the keyboard. In your case, I would assign every sample you load with the same root key, High key and Low key. So if you assign SAMPLE #1 to C1, make sure the high and low key is set to C1 as well or your other samples wont play.
If you don't have a song what makes a song
15:01 Ive been struggling to chop up a vocal all week. It just wont line up bpm-wise.
I dont mean recording vocals i mean, adding an isolated vocal to a track. Ive tried nine times, going through the whole thing and chopping it uo 8 bars at a time. It never lines up and it you adjust the bpm of track, then the chops dont fit the bars, so you have to re-chop it up again and it still isnt right oh my word, what a nightmare.
@@themanfromvolantis I think I ran into that problem before. Reopen a brand new project and set it to the BPM that you need before you try to import your vocal track or I'm pretty sure it doesn't work out. Try that and also I recommend just using the vocoder to import your track, just remember to turn down all of the EQ sliders on the vocoder. This might be wrong information but I'm pretty sure I've dealt with the same problem before and the solution was to not mess with a BPM at all after you import the vocals. I'll try to mess around with something when I get home off of work if I can remember to see if I can actually pinpoint the problem cuz I know how frustrating this can be.
@@brockhardentertainment OK. Thanks I will try your suggestions. I dunno why I didn't try the vocoder sooner cheers.
I am having problems saving songs on the Windows version - is it not possible to save on Windows? Thanks
You can save with the windows version. Try restarting your computer. If that doesnt fix it try reinstalling the app. All files are saved under:
Caustic>documents>songs
But I would like to know how to add ur own beat to record
If you want to add your own beat, use this same method. If u want to record audio to the beat u made in caustic, just press play before you record and the song will play but wont record with your vocals.
Thanks for a jolly decent tutorial, nearly all the others are WAY too fast , and irritating!
Yeah, most Caustic tutorials are made with super quick edits with lots of text. It annoyed me so I decided to do pretty much all my tutorials in real time so you can just follow along. Glad u liked it.
Can you be my math teacher? 😃😊
I try this before using a beatbox......
I cant convert mp3 songs to caustic anymore
Your gunna have to explain a little bit more of what you are trying to do for me to understand and help you. Sorry for the inconvenience.
@@brockhardentertainment u know how u convert mp3 media to wav? When i do it my songs dont pop up on caustic
Are you using Android or pc? If Android, what version? Are you placing the WAVs in your Samples folder within Caustic?
@@brockhardentertainment android and idk bro im comfused, its a new phone and my last phn would work no problem but its different now
@@SAPELU-_-ANTZ685 There have been some problems when people have been upgrading their phones. People are saying the solution is to re-install Caustic. Try that and let me know if it fixed the problem.
Dang...... I'm getting rid of this app. Not user friendly at all.
It definatly makes you do certain things the hard way. It's not really designed for importing full songs and recording full verses of lyrics. It is very good for other stuff though.
How to put a song
Def a learning curve but is rather solid
