  • Medford Oregon - Crime Rate! 😳
In this video 📽, I talk about a question I get asked almost daily - what is the crime rate like in Medford?! Is there crime in Medford? Yes, absolutely. How much and what type is harder to really nail down. To really answer the question, I felt it necessary to look at different sources of information, different cities, but ultimately leave the decision about living in Medford completely up to you!

I moved to Medford last December 2021. Overall, I like it here. The locals are friendly, unassuming down to earth folks. I live in downtown so I see some sketchy activities. Meth use is very obvious. Downtown Medford has the potential to be a really cool place. Hawthorne Park can be nasty. But compared to Eugene and Portland, I like my new home

I too relocated to SO from the same area (209) and yes there’s a lot more crime in San Joaquin County than Jackson. I agree at first glance Medford is cleaner and safer. That’s why I was shocked when I found out how many sec offenders there are in S.O.

Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback. It is a tough subject and I think it is easy to cast disparaging words on any singular place you want to. There is some really cool history, indeed, especially out in Jacksonville. In most areas of Southern Oregon, you can still get rights to a Gold claim, and there is a lot of mining that takes place outside of areas like Galice, near the Rogue River.

Gold hill, just 8 mikes from central point. Lots of gold was found in that area back in the day. There’s also some cool things to do in gold hill like zip lines, airsoft battles, golf, house of mystery!! Worth checking that out for sure! Rafting the beautiful and strong rogue river. Treat the rogue with a great deal of respect for she can bite and bite hard!

@@tmoddison I actually had the privilege of growing up near the rogue, and every summer my brother and I would get dropped off above Dodge Bridge and we would float tubes down to Touvelle park. The first time I was 13 and my brother was 12 and the trip took a lot longer then we had anticipated. Long story short night time had crept up quickly and since we hadn’t made the park yet our family was freaking out. Had the sheriffs looking for us in boats and people searching The banks for any sign that we had been there. We made it perfectly safe albeit very wet and freezing lol. Wouldn’t change anything about that first trip other then maybe having some headlamps or waterproof gear to help stay warm.

Medford at a C is perfect. Medford is a C student who could be better. The sad part is when you're from there and can remember the 90's/00's when they used to try. Tinseltown opening was a big deal. Dutch Brothers becoming something to write home about was a big deal. Harry and David expanding their facilities and always trying to keep people employed was a big deal. Expanding the mall was a big deal. The Bear Creek Greenway being updated and cared for was a big deal. The airport becoming 'international' was a big deal. Then at the end of the 00's when the '08 recession came, outside forces cynically shit all over everything the community had built and it never came back.

Crime is definitely getting more frequent here all the time. STAY AWAY FROM DOWNTOWN AT NIGHT, ESPECIALLY RIVERSIDE!!! Coincidentally, according to the date on the mail tribune site anyway, at the very same time u were filming this video, I was actually in Jackson County Jail on day 3 out of 20 for sleeping in my damn car in a nicer neighborhood cause I was homeless and I'm on high risk parole. In fact, I woke up to the cop opening my door, grabbing my keys, and putting his gun to my head while yelling threats to kill me if i moved an inch. I don't know what hell the callers told them but i seriously thought i was about to die but i think he felt bad once he realized that i wasn't actually doing anything wrong cause he was gonna let me go if my po hadn't have told him to lock me up. He didnt impound my car though and he let me smoke 2 cigarettes before taking me to jail so that was cool i guess but I'm still not too happy about how close he came to killing me, basically just for being an "undesirable" sleeping in the wrong neighborhood. Only reason i was living in my car is cause i can't afford rent for even the cheapest apts but at the same time, I'm trapped here on parole so i had no choice but to sleep in my car sometimes and id rather stay in nice neighborhoods cause i thought itd be safer but since I'm broke, geographically restricted, and homeless off and on, its alot easier and more profitable to just lock me up and make it even harder to make positive changes just to kick me back to the streets to repeat the cycle only even worse off than i was to begin with. I'm not proud of my past but Im actually a very honest and respectful person, just trying my best to give my kids a way better life than i ever had growing up so u can probably, hopefully get a better idea of what a goddamn shithole Medford REALLY can be unless you're rich or retired.
