- It's Mission Impossible 7: the rest…of it! I know, these two vids are shorter than Starship Troopers from last week, but it had more to do with the length of the movie. Excuses, excuses. Anyway! Deading Reck! Here's everything right with M: I Dead Reckoning!

Cinemawins giving us dead reckoning part 2 before the studio is
10:36 I think the whole "a lot of IMF agents are criminals who joined to avoid prison time" thing also nicely explains why rogue IMF agents grow on trees: they're people who didn't reform.
and also why the government is so quick to disavow/kill them should things go wrong. strong 'suicide squad' mentality.
this... is actually a fair point.
The retcon that IMF agents are recruited when they're prescipice of jail or death is intetesting and works for SOME personnel...but Benji was a lab tech in 3, that decided to go for a field op position. And Keri Russell's character from the same film...limited screen time but I really am not sure I can see her being a dark hat before the IMF got to her.
@@generalilbis With Benji, it's worrisome to think about what sort of criminal activity he might've been involved in that he would consider the IMF as an opportunity to get a clean slate.
Read somewhere how that relevation adds a different context to the ending of the first movie, with Ethan at first saying he intends to leave IMF, and then on the plane being given a mission tape.
The bike stunt was a sick experience in the theater. No music & just the wind rushing in was a good choice.
I increasingly feel like movies are oversaturated with music nowadays. Some of my favorite scenes are just quiet and let the visuals, dialogue, and/or in-world sounds do the work themselves.
I seriously love LOVE this channel. But it proves why CinemaSins is objectively poison to media literacy. He said Ethan making the parachute save through the window is a deus ex machina AND IT OBJECTIVELY IS NOT
I don’t care what anyone says. I fucking love Tom Cruise. Dude is what 60 years old ? Doing his own stunts.
6:34 I literally started having a panic attack in the theater catching that.
"YOU DO NOT THREATEN BENJI'S LIFE LIKE THAT! DON'T YOU DARE!"
Haha I was literally thinking the same thing. I think I would be more upset if Benji died over Ethan, tbh.
@@evanhancock8787 Honestly, I think Ethan's gonna die saving/protecting Benji.
Reddit ahh reaction
YES! I was almost screaming at my phone DON'T. KILL. BENJI! Because I will BURN every mission impossible to the ground if they do that!
Cringe
One thing i wish they’d kept in is the original question for benji in the airport scene. instead of the entity asking “are you afraid of death” it was “have you ever thought of harming yourself or others” and i think that would’ve added such shades to benji since he was underutilized in part one. i know it didnt sit well with test audiences, but that is such a powerful revelation for a character who’s been seen as pretty silly since his introduction in MI: 3. like there must’ve been a reason they put that in to begin with, right?? i just want more benji in part two
It really is so much deeper than run of the mill 'im afraid to die so I will do anything to prevent it' and 'im not afraid to die, im afraid of others dying' thats been done so many times. It usually hits pretty well, but questioning someones self worth and morality adds so much more to the niche parts of someones character.
As a Composer I LOVE this channel so much for the fact that you appreciate, mention and respect the beauty of the music. Subscribed. Love the pace of your videos, your voice and everything about it.
Probably a good thing Dead Reckoning Part 2 changed its title. The Cinemawins titles for the sequel would’ve been wild
*its
I was looking forward to Everything Great about Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 2 Part 1 and Everything Great About Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part 2 Part 2
@@Monkeyboy1138 😂😂
I can’t wait for the delay and scope of Dead Reckoning Part 2 to lead into a title like Everything Good about Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2 (Part 3 (Part 4))
You’ll be happy to know that Pom IS indeed coming back for the sequel, so we’ll be getting more of Paris. But, OH GOD! THAT BIT AT THE END HAD ME LAWLING LIKE A CRAZY PERSON!!!!! xD
NOT THAT WAY NOT THAT WAY! * another 30 seconds of tom cruise running like a champ * NOT THAT WAY NOT THAT WAY
yeah that song that plays while Ethan is sprinting towards the bridge trying to reach Ilsa in time...is one of the best pieces of music I've ever heard.
I actually didn't know there was actually much negativity around the film until you mentioned it at the end. I absolutely loved it. It didn't actually occur to me all the same things happening in this film happened in the previous ones, that's rather interesting, I did very much took notice of the Dutch tilts though, I was like, hmmm, there's no way this is a coincidence.
I already watched True Detective in preparation.
Killing off Ilsa also got backlash from the fanbase given her popularity.
There's very little negativity, worst I've heard is people say they liked Mission 6 better
The timing of their incorporation of AI and various tech was incredible. The live deepfake face-replacement bit in the airport was super believable to stuff that had happened weeks earlier. AI replicating Benjy's voice.
I TOTALLY agree with Lorne Balfe's work. Dude is a legend. I normally never listened to this type of music but when i heard this my opinion changed immediately. I added the whole soundtrack to my Apple Music library and I love listening to it individually. GREAT MOVIE 11/10
I love this! So excited for part two, its so fun to see people truly appreciating and pointing out the details and work in movies in a world of critics and pessimism.
With the "key placed at my feet," it isn't as if there was a plan that was followed. I used to think that all the time. As events happened, the entity constantly adjusted strategies and kept Gabriel updated on what was happeneing, what to do, and especially where to go.
I was always shocked that Denliger kept telling the entity "I'm the only person who knows where your weakness is." Then said "I'm sure I'm the only person who knows." Whay didn't he scream "Kill me now."
I still haven't seen how Paris was stabbed. I don't see Gabriel's hand go near her there.
Kirby did a fantastic job of portraying Atwell acting like the White Widow.
Pom Klementieff is just a badass!
I think the bike stunt suffered because they showed the real stunt before the movie even came out as a promotion, they even show the clip in the trailers. Which btw i still really enjoyed, tho i think the train sequence was cooler because its basically Uncharted 2. I always siad that Tom can play an older Nathen Drake like in the last game
It didn't help that it was filmed in 2020 and the movie didn't come out for so long afterwards.
Tom Cruise is pretty much Nathan Drake IRL.
Grace engaging Gabriel with his own switchblades was the biggest insult to him. All my knife bros understand. Grace had no chance but she still stepped up.
Your mission should you choose to accept it.
Cinemawins is always a win in this channel, period!
Watching that bike off the cliff scene in imax was breathtakingly brilliant. I’m excited to see what more batshit crazy stunts Cruisey has planned.
Ilsa was sad enough but if Benji dies I riot
Same.
Go watch marvel instead
@@scottbarkley496 Or no. I'm good with this series, regardless of if they make a couple of poor choices. In My opinion Marvel kinda ruined their reputation so I'll stay far away.
Especially since Ilsa literally saved benjis life in Fallout. It'd suck to have her die and the someon who she's saved in the past die also.
@@fraydizs7302 Facts though. Also in Rouge Nation if I recall. Benji would've been blown up but Ethan saved him. Ilsa, while didn't technically help with specifically that, DID help Ethan along the way, meaning TECHNICALLY Ilsa has saved Benji TWICE.
Rewatched over the past week. The filming of all the rail scenes is fantastic back story same for the jump. Also a friend was involved with the Rail Scenes as the Steam loco was a fantastic copy of a Britania locmotive but only had a small diesel and smoke generators so it was pushed for lots of the moving scenes.
**insert “there is no Dead Reckoning Part Two anymore” here**
WHAT??
False
@@joshuakraj9524they changed the title of the next movie
@@joshuakraj9524 The next Mission Impossible film is no longer Dead Reckoning Part Two, it’s getting retitled. The Part One on Dead Reckoning’s title was removed at least when the film arrived on Paramount+, haven’t checked the film itself
What did it get renamed to
fun fact, I live an hour away from the quarry they filmed used to crash the train and 3 hours away from the scene where Ethan lands and gets picked up by Benji
I live close to where he lands!
That's nice
One thing I always loved about these movies is that Ethan always gets dazed and confused after he pulls something crazy off. He is stumbling to the ground after blasting through a window on a moving train, because that’s what would realistically happen. Makes it that much better
Yeah, the "should any member of your team be caught or killed" while on Benji… I said out loud "don't you dare!" in the theater.
Having worked with fryers before…all that scalding hot oil spilling everywhere had me SOOOO tense.
Same here mate. I was gripping the armrest as soon as I realised they were in the kitchen car. Oil, gas, and every other chemical you'll find in a kitchen. "Stop staring! GTFO guys!" 😂😂
6:32 holy sh*t I wish I'd caught that when I was doing my dead reckoning video - I even have a whole part that connects back to Fallout about how these shot choices ARE intentional
The other agent, Degas was right. The Entity is too much power for ANYONE to have, the same reason why Harry Potter destroyed the Elder Wand. “Giving up ultimate power is noble.”
Also, that secretary was the Mayor who kept getting beaten up in Stranger Things 3. He even has a similar storyline similar to this one. He was secretly being bribed by these Russians, who were working on this huge machine called “the KEY”, which needed two KEYS in order to activate it.
The ending in “Austria” being one of my favourite places on the planet would be a win for me, it’s Buttermere in the Lake District in north west England. I’ll be up there in less than a month and I can’t wait. Though if had directed it I would have a brief shot of Kenneth Branagh on the Orient Express. Would make me laugh anyway.
CW dropping another 10/10 video? I guess some things never change. Thankyou for what you do. Your videos have become one of my go to comforts when my mental health is getting the better of me. Much love to the entire CW family
Getting the key from Gabriel is merely just warmup for what Ethan is about to face in the eighth Mission: Impossible movie coming May 2025.
I honestly loved this film. It makes me sad how the studio mis-judged it's release date so it was over-shadowed by other films.
I cannot wait for the final part to come out, I'll be there in theatres opening week.
Putting it up against two massive films was really ill advised. There was a lot of films released in summer 2023 which underperformed when they should have been more spaced out [especially as 2024's schedule is much thinner due to the strikes].
Man I really hope you're wrong on the "It was All a Dream" thing. That would be an absolutely terrible way to end the great build up in part one
'it was all a dream' is pretty much lazy writing 101 so I agree.
Unless the point was that it was always weird enough to be a dream, or being in the dream is because it facilitated a plan (like the hard mode of Kirby and the Forgotten Land (Fecto Elfilis can retreat into his dream to try and make a comeback from truck impact) or Dragon Quest Builders 2 (the world is a dream world Hargoth made in order try one last time to unleash Malroth even though Malroth is just a normal person who has “destruction powers”))
I suppose that if you combine smart AI with surrealistic events and call backs, it is effectively like a dream, like how people thought MGS2 was a dream until they made the Patriots the master manipulators.
Any chance we'll ever get to see Pirates Of The Carribean 2 & 3?
>Yes, it's just like MGS 2
The la li lu le lo?
One of the best films of last year and of the franchise. Amazing stunt work and cool story that adds freshness to the series. Cruise crushes it with the rest of the cast. Can't wait for (Part 2?) and hope to get Angela And Renner back.
I hadn't thought about the simulation angle until this video but I could see it. If it is a simulation, I suspect it would be the entity trying to game theory it's way to beating Ethan.
I loved Dead Reckoning Part 1. Ill never understand why it didnt do better at the box office. i cant wait to see Part 2. I dont believe Ilsa is dead. And i love Atwell as Grace. Ive never like Atwell as Agent Carter but her Grace was wonderful.
I still think theres more to Gabriel than meets the eye.
Every negation terms of the writing could so easily be on purpose and can be explained in part 2. And I think these movies are actually rlly underrated in terms of how well written they are so I do think they could pull off having everything make sense and cohesive by the end. Heck, none of the characters have directly interacted with the entity yet rlly, just Gabriel speaking for the Entity, there’s so much that can, need and I think will happen
I think they are setting up Dunn & Stickell leaving with Paris and Degas taking their places.
I think the bike stunt is really good in itself, but it could have been filmed better. The camera should have "jumped off" along with Ethan and brought the audience along. I found the behind the scenes video of it to be much more thrilling.
You should do War of the Worlds, it's one of my favorite movies and Cruise does a great job in that.
It is a fantastic movie. Not sure about the part1/2 thing, but to me the problem with the MI movie this time that though production and quality if glorious, the theme and mission didnt really feel new.
I thought, with then part 1 as the title, Gabriel would get the key in the end. Really have a "defeated" MI movie for once to have a reason to make 8. Thats the only thing I did miss, I will always love rewatching this but since 4/Ghost protocol its a little of a blur - though quality never fails!
Though losing Ilsa was a shock, so something new but I dont know, im just afraid after 5/Rogue nation and 6/fallout it will end with not the best one.
My favorite bit was when Esai Morales screamed “ETHAN!!!”
3:04 and in the next scene where he accelerates on it it's so obviously a constructed ramp... They messed up the CGI.
And that changes the actual stunt itself...how?
i get excited each time i see a new video pop up here. i appreciate the work!
I think it says a lot about how fucking GOOD Mission: Impossible is that Tom Cruise ACTUALLY riding a dirt bike off a MOUNTAIN and parachuting down to a train isn't the peak of the stunts they've done.
I also think it's important to be fair and realize not only was this film being filmed during the global lockdown, but also, Tom was like, what, 59? 60 years old doing this? I mean, the fact that's he's still doing stuff like this is beyond astonishing.
I had an absolute blast with this movie in theaters! While Dead Reckoning was an amazing installment in the M:I franchise, I still think Fallout is currently the best one. 2:10 I see what you did there, and I LOVE IT! Is there a chance in the future that you might do an EGA Saw and/or Saw X???
Same on both counts. I really enjoyed _Dead Reckoning_ but _Fallout_ remains my favorite.
Since it seems you're going to do TV series as well (WandaVision, Blue Eye Samurai, next week) would you mind going through Arcane at some point (maybe when Season 2 comes out)? I know it was praised almost to death already, but it just has so many wonderful details and your attitude and commentary seem made for those things.
EGA WolfWalkers, Power Rangers (2017), E.T. The Extra-terrestrial, and RRR!
I loved this film!!! I can’t wait for part two.
lawrence gordon mention oh I cheered so loudly
Fun fact: Tom Cruise was older in this movie than Jon Voight was in the first Mission Impossible.
One of my problems with this movie was the theatrical experience itself. In the beginning, it was advertised as Filmed for IMAX and they complained so much about losing all IMAX screens to Oppenheimer (a film that was made with IMAX cameras by a director who has been revolutionizing IMAX for many years) and then when it actually came out there were no scenes in the expanded ratio.
The movie had actually no scenes in imax ratio. It was always in 2,39:1, the editor Eddie Hamilton said that there where no long enough scenes in Part One to fit with the expanded imax ratio. He also confirmed that Part Two will have 2 imax scenes with the 1.90 ratio
@ughugh351 I don't know if this is a Mandela effect situation, but I can remember seeing trailers for the movie in IMAX, and it seemed to fill the screen (specifically for the motorcycle jump), but when I saw the movie at the same theatre, it was cropped
@@EdmundSnow98 yes. In the behind the scenes footage of the jump you can also see on the monitor that it is "just" scope
Miyazaki movies would be so fun
Yeah, but I don't think TH-cam would let them get away with play the entire movie, so there's really no way to accurately count the wins.
You missed the bit where Simon Pegg says that he is under a lot of pressure sitting in the comfy car while Ethan is on the cliff
One thing I don't understand is how was Paris able to pull Ethan and Grace up while being stabbed. How was she able to pull them up but then seconds later was struggling to speak and died? I'd imagine pulling someone up in that position puts force on your abs and stomach, something Paris wouldn't be able to do. I think it would be better if she lowered a rope or something for them to grab on, it's more realistic and something she could do after being stabbed.
Every time I see that scene it looks more unrealistic, she pulls them up and stands with them with no issue, but 15 seconds later she's unable to speak and dies a few seconds after that. It could have been more impactful if they showed she's struggling to walk, but still finds the strength to push through the pain and lower something for them to grab onto. Shows how much effort she's making to help Ethan and that she chose to risk her life to save them.
Adrenaline finally wears off? (At least in standard movie 'science')
Thanks for this video!!! After True Detective, can you at least do Jurassic Park 2, Shrek 2, and Raiders of the Lost Ark? I understand you might be busy with The Marvels and Oppenheimer, but you know, keep up the good work, CinemaWins!!!! ❤
My biggest complaint about this film is that most of the stunts don’t really advance the plot. For example, the entire train-top fight is an intense and fun sequence, but ultimately doesn’t matter at all because the key can just teleport into the possession of whoever the story desires to have it. It feels like a three hour long game of hot potato intercut with wicked stunts and a really, really loud score.
You've also got the tension in the train scene that Ethan wants to kill Gabriel to avenge Ilsa but needs to keep him alive.
@@jamesatkinsonja I love that Ethan thought about it, and STILL tried to kill Gabriel until he was stopped at gunpoint. Which is absolutely in character, from the secret agent who has successfully completed so many Plan Bs and Plan Cs that he knew he’d find another way (which he unknowingly truly had with Paris).
The actor that is Luthot also had an illness that took him out of the movie and they covered him really well
Your ending running montage was pretty amusing.
Is Lorne Balfe always a win, yet? Because I feel like they're always a win, between stuff like this and Black Adam, just to cite the two that are most immediately coming to mind.
I’m so glad Ethan got to wear an ROTJ outfit again here, just like in Fallout! I love that look!
the mgs2 theory also popped in my head (the big boss reference with ilsa though 😵💫)
Love it. Keeping doing you.
BUT damn that spoiler shot i want it now.
Sad you didn’t add a couple extra wins just for how stunningly attractive Pom was in every scene
Right?! Badass beautiful women should be under the 'always a win' category!
You DEFINITELY need to do a video about Godzilla Minus One. Granted, there are a couple of things wrong with the movie, such as the "shoving" trope and a minor nitpick about the end of said movie, but overall, it is a SOLID movie. I watched it 3 months ago in theaters, and Toho did something that no other movie studio dared to do: make us care about the humans.
Pom is just the best and she's just SO damn beautiful in her acting no matter what role she's got.
I have a very bad fear of heights because I was born with no depth perception so the part where he’s looking off the cliff in the trailer made me “nope” out of that
Let’s do this!!
I didn't know Paris and Mantis were the same actress when I watched this movie. She really sold the craziness of the character.
Hey, has anyone else noticed that the CinemaWins title and music have been sped up? Is there any particular reason this is happening that we know of? I really like that bit of familiar music before diving into the movie of the week.
They actually filmed the bike scene in Hellesylt Norway instead of Austria. I have family their and you can see part of their farm in the movie
For the train falling off the bridge and dodging the lights, my brain immediately went to Uncharted 2
As much as I wanna, and I know I won't get it, I would like to see Soldier with Kurt Russell from 1998 featured here.
Recommendation for the next movie you talk about lights out and Legend of the guardians owls of Ga’Hoole they’re both really great films
You should do Blue Beetle! Very underrated movie that I feel would've been highly rated had it not come out in the middle of superhero fatigue.
Blue Beetle was supposed to be a HBO max release originally so it felt quite 'contractual obligation' giving it a cinema release [like all the DC releases last year]. Putting it against Barbie and Oppenheimer didn't help it [Across the Spiderverse was a big hit a few weeks earlier] and holding it back for January 2024 would have helped it.

No, no there was no real bike slide. There wasn't. He wouldn't, would he? Oh my god he might have. He did
Hahaha. Someone else I'm sure he slid up to "a" cliff, just not "that" cliff. And they're probably right.
It’s a bit of a small complaint and one that they certainly couldn’t have corrected since they did it practically but the locomotive wouldn’t have slowed down as it was free falling, it should have speed up and then potentially exploded from water reaching the boiler, again a small thing but still.
your theory on the AI running the simulations, and that's what we are seeing - before we get the 'CHOSEN' scenario/outcome it desires; this was done very well on the show Person of Interest when they introduce the 2nd AI system going to war with the older AI system. There's one episode solely dedicated to this, showing how the AI is computing so many simulations at once and trying to figure out the best chance of survival - the audience sees an hour of possibilities, but to the AI only milliseconds has passed.
Hey soon enough it will be time to do a video on Dune part 2. Also great video and the movie itself was awesome in theaters
I had no idea it came out I literally watched your video on part 1 like 2 hours ago
Never mind I’m dumb
Don't kill Benji, make him the Director of the IMF after Ethan retires.
Movie was enjoyable, even kinda endured the fact that Hayley Atwell’s character was wildly hard to root for due to actively avoiding Ethan’s help. But what took it out of me was certainly Paris getting stabbed by a phantom knife. I kept rewatching it and I literally couldn’t infer where was the moment the bad guy stabbed her, he literally just ran away and left
In fairness to Grace, she is an outsider in this world as she's a thief not a spy so she has no idea if Ethan is being truthful. Her character arc leads to her joining the IMF at the end so her character will be different in MI8.
Am I the only one who stoked about CinemaWins talking the True Dectective S1!?
Technically, both Dead Reckoning videos combined are longer than the Starship Troopers video. Starship Troopers is 32 minutes, both DR videos are 36.
Yay for part two! :D
This video has been out for 3 days and I didn't get a notification until this morning...
The whole entire effing train fallong off cliff scene in imax made me cCkle and scream and laugh out of pure joy. Its my cinemawins thor ragnarok Immigrant Song moment of a million yups and giggling

Petition to have Daniel Craig and Cruise team up for a retirement movie? With 007 and Ethan Hunt as frenemies
Cruise is a bamf .. and I'll buy that he slid up to _A_ cliff .. but there's no way he slid up to *_THAT_* cliff. Happy to find out I'm wrong though.
