Alex, it is your ability to laugh at yourself which raises you above many individuals ! Don't ever let that change, sir ! BTW Without the video no-one would ever know that a stick was dropped ! In fact (if anything) it provides a beautiful segue from the crescendo and tom work into the hi-hat piece. Fantastic save, my man ! Out of the chaos something artistic became manifest !
Thank you! Yes, I love these drums, though there are plenty of people who hate v-drums on sight :-) I find them very versatile and it is great to be able to change the sound so much, depending on what I am playing.
I'm a (severely) amateur drummer and we've been working through this song. I have never seen it covered perfectly. Congrats. The drummer for the police was very unorthodox and hard to predict. Requires 100% of my concentration to nail it........even then i'm not beat for beat but close enough that it passes. Thanks for the video
@n8gr81 Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm glad you clarified that! Many thanks! I have to say that when I look back at the vids I did back in 2007/2008, I am amazed at how much better a drummer I have become. Doing all these videos over the years and getting the incredible feedback from all of you has really made me strive to do things I never ever thought I would be able to do. It's been a lot of fun and it just shows how we never ever stop learning, even when you are as old a git as I am :-)
I think this is probably the most accurate drum cover of this song on youtube, I wish non-musicians could see how much truly goes into something that sounds so effortless.
Ha! Ha! I thank you - that means a lot to me! It is my personality, so I doubt it will change. I refuse to take myself seriously, and drum becuase I love it, and love sharing it with everyone, mistakes and all :-) I will admit that this has to be the best 'save' I ever made - I laughed my head off when I watched it back for first time, and said 'that HAS to go on YT!' You are very kind
Brilliant!!!! That's what the world needs...less self conscious and overly serious drummers... Also love how you have a rock guitarist lead break face when playing... Oh..and you done a good job of the cover as well.. OxO
@MJGWriter That's very kind of you, thank you! 'Graceful' - you are the second person to use that word to describe what I see as 'amused panic' - 'graceful' is a lovely way of putting it :-)
kkkk.Sensational. It gave a real show in choreography and drums .. The most fun time was when the stick fell. Top.... Congratulations.. One more like and one more written ..
Wow, friend, I love watching you drum. I have been playing and I look so, SOOOO serious when I play. You are a lesson to the joy of the craft. Good job from Memphis, Tennessee
@centralscrutinizer9 You are absolutely right about live gigs. The sound check takes less than one minute! All we actually have to do is get the relative levels right between the guitars / vocals / keys and drums, its wonderful! And i LOVE having a volume control :-) As for the playing - thank you!
That is very high praise, and I am so glad I did not ruin your favourite song for you! Cheers! The recovery - definitely my best one of all time. Still makes me laugh now when I watch it :-) I really don't know how I got away with it!
I am humbled, thank you! However, I assure you I am not capable of catching every beat - Copeland is incredible, and I only catch about 90% of his beats, I think :-)
Very good! Very Good! Very good!!!!!! Very, very, very, very, very gooooooood!!!!!!!! You are a faaaaaannnntaaaastic drummer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh crazy, man!
Mate, tight cover. We've already gone over how huge a fan of The Police I am, and this is my fav song... EVER! Also, as a massive Copeland fan and an extremely frustrated drummer, I have listened closely thousands of times to this song's drum parts. This cover, while missing SOME of the finer bits, was more or less spot on. Did I mention tight? As I have told you before, Stewart did a fair bit of overdubbing in the studio, so don't beat yourself up too much for missing a few notes here or there!
Brilliant work, Dude. I love watching and LISTENING to your percussion covers. Wow, the Police had some tricky rhythms here and about. Obviously you are disciplined and patient to dial those licks down. Might you be a session musician? If not, you should be! Cheers Sir! Bravo. Bloody well done, and thanks so much for your time to rehearse, practice and record and share online. Very sincerely and respectfully, Mark
Wow, Mark, thank you so much for this comment. It's greatly appreciated. I have been off YT for three years now, and I'm overwhelmed with all the comments I have been missing. I'm slowly going through them all. I am not a session drummer, no! I play live in various bands here in UK and in Germany. I'm going to start uploading stuff again - with my new drums :)
@FunkMasterGodOfRock2 Dude! That's a lovely comment! I thank you :-) I am indeed having a lot of fun playing this. Many thanks, both from me, and my drum kit!
This has got to be one of the greatest rock songs ever written! So uplifting! And those drums lines?...Oh, my! You play with such feel and nuance! Really awesome! You made my day!
I was a teen also when Haircut 100 they were around. They were huge in the US about 1982/83. Huge. I take it if they were huge in the US then they were huge in the UK as well. 10 years ago on video music channel VH1 they did a reunion. Someone who went to the show over in London said that the show reunion was in shambles. It was so many years since they played together so they didn't sound so tight. On TV it looked good though but that is after editing.
A good performance, sir. This is one of my favorite Police tunes and you did it justice. I think Stewart would approve. By the way, I have seen performances from Stewart where he has lost a stick or destroyed a snare with his intensity and vigor. So you are in good company👍👍👍
One of my all time favorite songs, love to watch musicians really get into the song they are playing, really gets me into it as well. Awesome job!
Thank you so much, that's a wonderful thing to say 😊
Thank you very much. I spent 20 minutes and 8 videos trying to find someone who did “the fill” correctly. Yours is the closest
This.
Hello Jouxplan! YOU YOU feel it totaly , true musician 👍🏾 great drumsound

Dude, I've been following your videos for over 10 years, and it still excites me to watch you work.
Lovely! Love this song and the "build-up". Well done mr drummer! 🥁
love it! facial expressions come as an extra fun factor!!! Great work Jouxplan!!!!!
Ha! Ha! Yes, that seems to be what people love whe they watch me play live :) I like to think of it as pasion - some call it gurning! Thank you
@@jouxplan It's totally gurning.

That's very kind of you!
Thank you! Yes, I love these drums, though there are plenty of people who hate v-drums on sight :-) I find them very versatile and it is great to be able to change the sound so much, depending on what I am playing.
To this day, still my favorite and most enjoyable drum cover to watch!
Wow, that is high praise indeed! I am humbled :)
It’s not acoustic
Great stick and strokes Bro... I love the Police and Stewart Copeland is one of my favorite drummers...
Thank you so much :) Yep, Copeland and the Police were epic and unique!
I'm a (severely) amateur drummer and we've been working through this song. I have never seen it covered perfectly. Congrats. The drummer for the police was very unorthodox and hard to predict. Thanks for the video
Sweet, the Professor & the Roller Skater, got to be the finest rock drummers ever.
@n8gr81 Ha! Ha! Ha! I'm glad you clarified that! Many thanks!

@MJGWriter That's very kind of you, thank you!

I’ve seen this video a bunch of times and enjoy it always. Great song and great drum set 👍
great. I play in a tribute band to the police, and your videos have been very useful to me, because you play very closer to the originals. Thanks !!!
That is very high praise, and I am so glad I did not ruin your favourite song for you! Cheers!
The recovery - definitely my best one of all time. Still makes me laugh now when I watch it :-) I really don't know how I got away with it!
The way you transport the notes from your head to your body is incredible.
I so enjoy watching you play
I am humbled, thank you! However, I assure you I am not capable of catching every beat - Copeland is incredible, and I only catch about 90% of his beats, I think :-)
More like 96.5% :)
Great job!
