    No mention of mid war lol. My army is over 2k points as SS vets with a panther. Just got the panzer grenadiers and a Panther A with another box of Grenadiers so I can add on late war stuff down the road. I just love the Stalingrad/Kursk era of the war. Had my first game on Sunday and well, my opponent let me use his FJs because I just built my stuff up and we like painted stuff. Was fun and interesting to actually play after spending the entire weekend watching your vids and reading the rule book! Thanks for doing these

    Another great video for people new to Bolt Action, and even something for people who have been playing a little longer. Nice tutorial on transports used as a spearhead. In my last tournament I used my sdfkz 7 as my transport, didn't have armour but does have tracks. Crewed this with 2x 6 man Elite heer troops nco with mg, 1 x 1 lmg, 4 rifles. The sdfkz can carry 12 troops. These were a flanking unit matched with a m/c combination. I used the m/c to come on first and tempt the unit that was ambush to fire, if it does I recce away. If it doesn't then I shoot with the mmg, 4 shots will normally put a pin on the unit. Surprising how many units fail their ld test. Next dice on comes transport over 12" away. Then De-buss infantry when I get the dice, and fire. 3 rifles + 4 from the lmg at half range will put another pin or two on.

      Excellent example of how to use a transport ken. I also should have covered after being disembarked some tactics on using your vehicle as a moving piece of cover. Can come in handy

    Hey there from Ireland. Bought the starter set before Christmas & bought the expansions suggested in the getting started pamphlet (Sherman for us & panzer IV for Germans to get me going). Stumbled across your site while searching for bolt action channels amongst a few others! Have to say,enjoyed your channel the best out of all of them,very straight forward,informative & most of all enjoyable while assembling my kits! Keep up the great work! Great terrain by the way& love the Guinness t-shirt!👌👌

      Hey there,slow I'm afraid,undercoated all the infantry,assembled the tanks,but then bolt action 2 dropped,bought the starter set with the airborne & an American half track & a box of grenadiers so all in all I think I'll have a decent size battle when they are painted up! Loving your bolt action 2 posts by the way!

      your a newer player so heres a simple super effective list that I would think you will have much success with. vet 2nd LT with one guy, give them SMG, 10 regulars with LMG, 10 reg with LMG, 10 commandos with 6 SMG, 3 ton truck with MMG upgrade, free artillary observer, Lt artillary piece with a spotter, cromwell tank. Its pretty tight list 3 full strength squads so reroll a failed check until they take a casualty, commandos can go in the truck with the LT. drive up to whomever, pile out and wreck face, up and at em is a great army rule but blood curling charge isnt bad either. the howitzer with spotter can hit fixed positions or fire over the barrel as a light anti tank gun if needed and the cromwell is an awesome all around general purpose tank that is well rounded.800 points even

    A lot of great information in this video! I was going to ask you about your thoughts regarding the Germans in the D-Day Firefight set, so thanks for doing this video. I am hoping to build a 500 point German force with the D-Day Firefight set as a starting point. This way I can use the two armies to introduce some of my friends to the game and hopefully get some local interest.
    I have working on assembling my American infantry squads this week and am making good progress. I enjoy the modeling and terrain making part of the hobby and find it very rewarding. I am anxious to actually play a game at some point!
    I really enjoy your tactics and army composition discussions and find them very helpful. It will be interesting to see what changes the second edition has in store. I am a bit nervous about choosing units using the existing rules, knowing there will be some key changes coming. It does sound like they will be giving the medium machine guns a little more power. That works for me, as I want to include a 30 cal in my American force and that would make it a more viable choice.
    Really enjoy your videos, Sean. Thanks for posting!!

  • @danbuman5726
    @danbuman5726 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    You make a good point about the versatility of the models and how it makes Bolt Action affordable. For example, you can build thirty US infantry. They could be Inexperienced, Regular, or Veteran for any given game. You can change the squad size from game to game. Some of the squads could be rangers for some games. In the same way, when you purchase the Sherman kit, it can represent a vast array of Sherman variations. This allows you to use your models differently from game to game, which can especially be important to a new player with limited funds, models, or play style established. Pretty cool!

    I put a stalingrad selector 1000pt Soviet army together for $39 using two Wargames Factory Soviet boxes that were on sale for $13 per box and two packs of Soviet ATR teams from BlackTreeDesigns for another $13 as they were on sale at the time. Not an expensive game to get into until you bring a mess of vehicles.

    So flamethrower vehicles are the most powerful units in the game haha...
    A little while ago I was looking through the Armies of Germany book. I noticed a really cool vehicle for earlier war blitzkrieg listed. The SDKFZ 8 armored cab. I got really excited because a flak 88 on a half-track is just amazing. Then I got really confused and then really disappointed. In the vehicle description it says that the vehicle was deployed extensively in france, yet the Battle of France army selector omitted the vehicle, while the Poland selector is the only one to have the vehicle listed as an option. But the most frustrating part of the whole ordeal; is that Warlord doesn't even make a model for the unit. No manufactures make one in 1/56scale either. What are your thoughts about this?

    • @WahooWarrior
      @WahooWarrior  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a bit of some of the frustration of the original German army book. There's some high hopes that some of these type of things are fixed with the new German army book. They have several neat items that aren't really playable for one reason or another. Some items should probably be in the armor car slot and not the tank slot to get them on the table more. As far as flamethrower vehicles yes they are crazy brutal. That's why they are not allowed in any tournaments.

    • @lovelygrey
      @lovelygrey 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Understandable to outlaw them in tournaments, but I'd love to see them played in a casual game for fun.
      And I couldn't agree more about the limited options for tanks and armored carrier units.

    • @TheEccentricMan
      @TheEccentricMan 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +WahooWarrior Come to the UK, then you can use your Flamer Tank. Normally there's a comp. to take either a vehicle or an infantry one. If a vehicle its reduced to 12" range, if it's a small one like a universal carrier the range is further reduced to 9". Some tournaments are putting in a house rule you have to roll to hit, Ignoring cover modifiers but including long range, or you just need a 3+ to hit.

    • @WahooWarrior
      @WahooWarrior  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ken Baldock I'd love a trip to the uk do a game club crawl for a week lol just hang out and play. The flamethrower vehicle I could live with in bolt action. If limited and modified accordingly. I don't care if its powerful. Should be a short range and no move and fire though.

    • @lovelygrey
      @lovelygrey 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +WahooWarrior If you can't move and fire though, whats the point of bringing a vehicle? I thought the purpose of bringing vehicles is so you can move and fire. Though, I suppose it doesn't matter right now, as the rules are going to be reworked. We will have to wait and see.

    Hi! As a brand new player to Bolt Action your videos have been an inspiration to get my head into the game and really delve into WW2. I was wondering if you would be willing to help me create a balanced Late War Grenadiers Army List to hand over to my friends to play vs my 1000pt americans and to play with myself once in a while. I have 30 Wargames Factory Infantry (2 already dedicated to a sniper team, and 1 Lieutenant) The others can be assembled as needed with access to rifles, LMG's, and panzerfausts, I also have the Band of Brothers German grenadiers and half track with plans to purchase a Stuh-42. Any tips you can offer will go a long way, cheers from Canada.

    • @WahooWarrior
      @WahooWarrior  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott you have a pretty decent start to a German Army. Ifor 100 points you will need that Stuh-42 but here is what I would run for it for your buddy. gives you a decent mix of stuff with hitting power. I am iffy on the half track with the light AT gun but its nice in that it can fire now in second edition without troops in it and can haul some men.
      Second LT veteran +1 man (remember German LT gets 2 snap too)
      10 man Reg Grenadier (full strength) LMG. 2 Panzerfaust
      10 man Reg Grenadier (full strength) LMG. 2 Panzerfaust
      8 man Veteran Grenadier 2 Panzerfaust NCO SMG, 4 assault rifles 2 Panzerfaust (these guys go inside the halftrack)
      6 man Veteran Grenadier 2 LMG 2 panzerfaust
      Vet Sniper Team
      Stuh 42 reg
      251/10 halftrack regular
      999 points 8 order Dice
      this is a pretty straight forward list to run, disadvantage is low order dice, advantage lots of shooting, good in close with some units, Stuh to kill infantry and lots of secondary ant armor in panzerfausts a light AT gun and the Stuh in a pinch.

    • @WahooWarrior
      @WahooWarrior  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      that is a sweet new plastic kit. 30 infantry. similar to what I'm doing with airborne at the moment. a Medium mortar is a must have. 50 points 60 with spotter (at regular) more for vet just too versatile not to have. a MMG team is pretty sweet and iconic as well. both good choices. I know many people run a StuG as a support for fallschimjager. I personally would take some transports however and not a tank. put panzerfausts in the infantry and either add a panzershreck or one of my favorites a panzerbusch41 for anti tank duty.

      True it was an amphibious vehicle but once troops were ashore it was used as a general transport. Was used quite a bit in italian islands
