I love your suggestion to visually tailor your CV to the company logo colors and additionally, use the same font if the company uses a unique font/color scheme. I wish I had known that years ago!
Hi..!! Firstly congratulations on finding a job :) I can totally relate to it, as I am going through similar phase... sometimes I kind of feel not so motivated yet applying 5-10 jobs a day.
Thank you ! 😆 yes honestly it was so hard to stay motivated... some days I would get 3-4 rejections and just feel so discouraged... but you’ll get there soon keep applying to the max !! 🙌🏻
@@Ariellelaparisienne Thank you so much for the support :) Once again, I can’t explain how much I am able to relate to your situation, may it be tweaking my resume for the job position, looking for openings that has less number of applicants, realising to add “Hobbies “ in resume, and most importantly compressing resume in one page 😁Moreover, a week back, I almost lost all hopes and stopped applying, until I watched this video. May be I will start applying once again (fingers crossed). BTW wishing you lots of success and happiness in your new job:)
Thanks for posting this! I was supposed to be in Paris last year, but real life (ahem a rogue car) literally got in the way. Now I'm thinking that looking for a job is going to be the best bet when it's time to go. Also, I love LinkedIn. In the past, I've used the more personal approach by sending messages directly to HR managers, although I've learned that this is a no-no for French companies.
In the US - no photo - and you have to change it according to each and every job description!!! And as if matters where not worse, a program picks you, not a human being🙄 if you are a female, you get bumped up, then it depends on which race you are if you will be bumped up the list or not…
Hey! I am looking to study Communications in France as well. Perhaps I’ve misunderstood what you said, but did you not have any concerns about applying for jobs outside the scope of your studies considering that it is a requirement for switching from the RECE to a work visa? I’m also blown away that you got a Passeport Talent visa, it all feels so impossible for someone wanting to go into Communications
Is, good to apply different jobs but it sucks when you are over qualified. I am glad you kept going sending those Resumes. Staying positive when looking for a job.
Ugh yes... it can be tough for sure ! But I feel like if you really keep applying eventually something will come up that suits you ☺️ the job I got which really is perfect for me was my third interview so it just takes time and a lot of looking I guess !
A lot these tips are great but here in America, you’d get looked at crazy for the colorful CV. But I love the idea of a colorful CV lol. I think I’d hire someone for that but that’s just me. 😂
Omg I’m really happy you did it! Cause i just finished watching the video you were suffering from post master’s visa and you were like coming from the future, I really wanted to know what happened with you and suddenly you appeared here to show us how did you find a job!! And the question still in my mind if you are now able to apply for French Citizenship? Or you need to wait till you have 5 years? I live next to Paris and your videos are extremely useful for me in my 2nd MSc year. Thanks!
thank you for such a lovely comment it made my day ! I have a video coming on Thursday explaining my whole visa journey 😊 there is a reason i haven't applied for citizenship which i will also talk about in that vid haha wishing you all the best for your second year !!! almost there !!
Ah shoot 🤦🏼♀️ i can’t believe I forgot to mention that... yes ! I normally send 3 pages in my application : French cover letter + French CV + English CV. BUT if I’m applying for a job that is only in English, then in that case I submit everything in English. Hope that helps! :)
that is pretty par for finding a job 200 apps/month..What is you Masters degree in? BTW: Greece has the highest number of Masters & PhD graduates of all the EU countries. The 'CV's France use are similar to what the Creatives use ( Artist, Musicans, etc.) ....LOL 'startups'...Apple & Microsoft were startups at one time! People either get a job in their field or using their skill set.......that's the way it rolls folks
Hi ! Yes 😊 did you get to the part about LinkedIn ? Most french companies post on linked in and you can filter for jobs with less than 30 applicants which betters your chances. Some of my friends also use the website "welcome to the jungle" Hope that helps !
Hello from India Arielle! :) Hope you're doing well. Thanks so much for your videos they're really helpful. If you don't mind I would to ask you something. Is it possible to get an internship/job as an international student fluent only in English (as of now) in Paris? Like do they hire people like that and is it possible to get a visa for the same? Also, I've just recently completed my bachelor's degree. I have a degree in Commerce and a diploma in fashion styling. So yeah I really look forward to hearing back from you! Thanks so much ❤️❤️
Hi ! 😊🙋🏼♀️ I would say it’s definitely possible - but harder to do. The vast majority of students in Paris are bilingual so you would be competing with people who speak an extra language 🙁 but it is possible ! Companies that are NOT french but have an office in Paris often speak English at work because it’s so multicultural, so try looking at brands / companies that come from outside of France ☺️ really a company that come from any other European country will speak English at work normally An internship in English will also be easier to find than a “real” job (CDD or CDI in French) and that’s because they pay interns much much less in France - so there are a lot of companies hiring huge amounts of interns right now and so there are A LOT of opportunities !
I'm an unqualified old man but I would like to make this dream a reality. :) Your story of fierce determination is inspiring.
Thank you so much ! ☺️ It takes some perseverance but you can do it !!! 💪 I'm a big fan of following dreams hahah
I'm glad after all the struggles you look happy now. your videos are really impactful. Thank for sharing and thank you for teaching us not to give up
Very interesting about the hobby section! That’s something you never see on resumes here in the United States.
I love your suggestion to visually tailor your CV to the company logo colors and additionally, use the same font if the company uses a unique font/color scheme. I wish I had known that years ago!
Ah thank you ! 😆 I feel like now there’s so much competition out there that you HAVE to do something special to stand out from the crowd

Hi, thanks for this insightful video ! Did they agree to sponsor your visa or you didnt need a work permit?
I just found your channel, im gonna check your podcasts too, as someone moving to Paris next year, this is really informative. Keep going ❤️🩹

Oh shoot 🙁 maybe take a look at the jobs that interest you in Paris before arriving ! And linked in is my fave ! But weirdly I never used it in Canada
This is really helped to get a perspective . I liked how you talked about CV and what makes it stand out , People usually don't talk about this stuff.
Im so glad it was helpful !!! ☺️ Good luck with the job search !
Thanks for the great tips. Would you say things have improved since you made the video?
As someone currently searching, no 😅
That was extremely motivational and informational! Thanks!

@@Ariellelaparisienne Definitely! I've been sending my CV solely in English, but agree it's probably a good idea to add a French version. ☺️
That’s really interesting about putting a professional headshot with your resume. That would be a definite no no here in the United States.

Although for an internship would I be able to get a visa?
Don’t companies in Paris use applicant tracking systems? What about bigger companies? A bit old fashioned to use a human to filter CVs 😮
