      +Hitmanfc1000 Thanks! Now you know why I was so motivated to get it done, lol. Being an instructor, having to teach the tech to others definitely helps. If you aren't comfortable teach, get involved in answering blog questions.

    Man I was almost ready to retire after 17 years in the Enterprise and Data Center. However, after watching your Video I'm thinking I can go out with an CCIE#. I took my 1st attempt in 2001 maybe. My career took off without it. However I've studied INE material and CCO of course, books etc.. to stay sharp and relevant. But lately.. I've been doing VXLANs, ACI, NSX stuff, which is where the DC is heading. But CCIE is still cool. Would like to walk away with it.

    Hi Rob,
    Thanks for great video.
    Short clarification on CONFIG: Let's say you have asked to create a tunnel with bandwidth of 500 kbps but after exam you realized it's 50 kbps (typo). Will candidate get any marks for doing that whole task?
    Thanks for your understanding!!!

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Jacky Chuna In Config and in Tshoot it is all or nothing. That is why verification of both sections is so vitally important. Short answer is you will lose the points for that task. Long answer is lose the points because you missed configured the bandwidth, the Policing or Shaping policy in the MQC. It is very important that if you have to do that in your exam that you follow the exam task exactly as they are written in a case like yours. Some tasks aren't so direct and you have to interpret what you are being asked. If you are not sure, ask the proctor. David Blair in RTP will clarify if he can. Safest bet is if you are required to modify any metrics, make sure you know how to modify them (EIGRP Delay ;P) and if you do what are you actually setting.
      Good luck!

    What would you recommend as the best way to prepare for the Troubleshooting section?

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Tom Windsor Really there is not a way to prepare for Tshoot, what I would recommend, what I did was to be really good with the individual technologies. You will need to be really good with all the technologies on the blueprint. I am planning on putting together a little series here on my channel to cover troubleshooting. Stay tuned!

    HEllo Rob I am looking at a project to implement ipsec tunnels and im looking to use VPLs instead of mpls
    have you tried a similar set up?
    what would be your advice
    thanks in advance

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alejandro Atriano I'm currently studying Service Provider. VPLS in my understanding uses MPLS for transport through the MPLS cloud. This enables a P2MP tunnel design. You could use IPsec P2P tunnels, MPLS L3 VPNs. DMVPN. Since you mentioned VPLS are you looking for L2 connectivity?

    • @alejandroatriano9138
      @alejandroatriano9138 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the response, im just trying to gather experiences from technicians who have had a similar set up, im just concerned of possible issues with this kind of set up

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alejandro Atriano You actually mixed in several different scenarios into one. I personally like MPLS L3 VPNs as the primary and DMVPN as the backup.

    Your math is incorrect. A CCNP will refresh all CCNA certifications. Two million CCNA and one million CCNP would be at most two million certified professions, rather than, three million.

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't see this comment til today. If you add people that have just CCNA to people that have CCNA and CCNP would equal 3 million pro's. Its not exact but somewhat close. The point wasn't about 2 million CCNAs or 1 Million CCNPs, it was to give perspective on much more effort it takes to get the CCIE.

    the worst thing is that Cisco exams are not accessible to those who have no money

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't see that as the worst thing. I had no money at one point, I had to save up and take the exams when I could afford it. You have to spend money to make money. The worst thing is making excuses and not bettering yourself, and then complaining about it. Your better off using it as motivation to have a better life. It's a tragedy if you let your current situation dictate how the rest of your life could be.

    Would you recommend INE or IPexpert for CCIE R&S?

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Mario Cordero It really depends on you. I have been using INE for years now. I automatically go to INE for all network related studies. If you don't like their style, use iPexpert. I used INE for 98% of my CCIE prep, and iPexpert for full scale labs, just to change it up. I personally like INE over iPexpert. BTW, I am not being biased (I'm an instructor for INE) this is my channel and my personal views.

    • @marrr7611
      @marrr7611 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Rob Riker Thanks so much for the information. I have watched INE videos in the past, but I never did watch any from IPexperts. I did find INE videos quite full of in depth information in comparison to CBTNuggets. Like someone said before; to grasp the concept at first, CBTNuggets is great, but for more in dept information, the INE prevails.....Congrats by the way on receiving your CCIE.

    • @RobRikerTechChannel

      You'll need 10-12 routers capable of running 15.3 code, 4-6 switches capable of running 15.0 code. This is just to learn the technologies. You'll need 20+ routers on 15.3 code for prepping for the lab. I would recommend researching servers/virtual options as well, that's the direction I took.

    Do i need any work experience for passing CCDE or CCIE SP ?

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +TheMan Technically no. You can take any CCIE or CCDE and pass it with no work experience. However, I don't think you'll have very good results finding a job with just a CCIE/CCDE, considering on average most CCIE/CCDEs have 4+ years of experience. The reason why experience is still definitely needed is you will have seen issues and know how to fix them. You can have all the CCIEs ever made available and still not the best engineer for the role. A CCIE is just a way to prove you know your stuff, it doesn't replace experience, there are things I have faced that were never touched on in the prep or the lab, you just gotta know how to do deal with that type of stuff.
