Tamashii are off to a great start to the year with their release of Figuarts Bardock, a fan favourite and long awaited figure by all collectors.
SHF Bardock is a completely brand new sculpt with fantastic articulation, making it a very posable and expressive figure.
One of my favourites in the series so far for taking photos!

I’m still glad they used the DBZ Bardock and not the DBS bardock
I wish we got a super Saiyan head but we're getting super Saiyan Goku and I'm going to get two of them
they are making a profit out of nostalgia, i like this so much better. lol

Bardock's hair sculpt is actually accurate because there are subtle differences between his and Goku's. Their hair styles are not exactly the same as people like to think.

@@JustHazzo I mean when you say "look the same" you're right but the key difference which again I say is only subtle and slight is that Bardock has more bangs that drape over and his hair is more wild looking...
Other merchandise of Bardock such as the figure-rise version has same the hair-sculpt like this figuart does.

And they are figures not drawings
So not everything is gonna be truly accurate to the source materal
Especially the heights of each individual figure
Bandai have OUTDONE themselves here 👏👏👏 brilliant idea to give us a new face/sculpt because of course bardock looks like goku but he also looks like himself. I hope people get my point. I didn’t want a situation where we basically got goku with a scar because bardock looks the same as goku but completely different in his physical presence. Banging job!

The armor itself is very nice with contrast of matte and gloss, it almost like shiny black-shell mixed with matte fabric layering.

Just got my Bardock from the NYC Tamashii Pop up shop and I’m so happy I got this figure, you can really tell how new it is when you hold it in hand it literally doesn’t feel like the other figures, can’t wait to see how raditz holds up next month, along with your review of him.

Unfortunately they don’t fit. The bangs are raised a little too high to accommodate for the banner so there’s a bit of a gap. Ill take some pictures and post them on my Instagram
Thtas really some nice poses, and you captured the faces really nice. All of his faces photos shown in the internet (even Bandai) was very wonky, glad you give him justice.
The green ain’t bad tbh It looks like the green when he turns super saiyan tbh if only they added the super saiyan head though 😭

Hopefully maybe a recolor during an event would be nice were the lime green color would be more of a darker shade of green.
I don't have it in hand yet, but I can already appreciate the new elbow joints.

Excellent review, this is a top figure for 2021, classic bardock is the most badass characters for the anime, and finaly had a very decently representation in articulated figure!

I think bardock from super broly was the superior character.
I know people thought bardock was so badass or whatever in his orginal apperances.
But the one from super, he's like this calm, seasoned warrior type. And he's intelligent and can just see how his culture has changed, how the air has changed and that the Saiyan's are reaching their end. Not by beating it out of people, but by just being aware. He's a working class saiyan and seemed content with that. That's VERY VERY new for a saiyan in the series and it's cool to see a more down to earth mature character for gokus father and someone who broke the mold of the usual saiyan like goku did again later.
And they still had him be the one brave enough to stand up againt frieza knowing they were going to lose. That was cool to see too. In the orginal movie he thought he could win, he was this predictable brute mostly, and then just gets embarassed in the end. Died an arrogant asshole like most Saiyan's we see in the series orginally.
Ewww no, I'm sorry but Z Bardock is far better than the DBS Bardock in almost every way, both story and character. The new Bardock is literally just Jor-el with Goku hair and had the typical 'not like everyone else' cliche. He's just far more boring and dull compared to the original.
i agree im glad there is some sort of effect piece, kind of wish it had more of a flare to it though? like an extra swirl piece ( so that its kind of like naruto rasengan effect) or pieces to make it look like it's bursting light. Overall though, i'm impressed, and cant wait for mine!
also the hands look really nice! particularly the open splayed out hands, they look way more natural. always found the ones with goku and vegeta look kind of off or awkward.
I love this channel and your reviews, I appreciate the more positive centred focused content. Lots of reviews come off whiny and negative 90% of the time.
Always a little Jealous I don't live in Japan or have friends there who can get me figures at retail price and near release window. Gotta wait till April for this figure :( still waiting on my Kid Gohan, and Jiece figures due to release dates.

I want this bardock so bad!!
They really need to do a re-release of the goku saiyan raised on earth with dragonball saiyan arc kind of shading and changes to the eyes and changes to the headsculpt like they did to this bardock. It wouldn't hurt to resculpt other parts of the body too like make the muscles more round like they were in the show with little shadings on the muscles!

I would say it would be awesome to have the s.h. figuarts versions of Bardock's teammates so you could pose all five of them together.

Just got mine a few days ago, he looks great. The bicep swivels are super tight though! Are both of your bicep swivels clicky? One of mine is but the other is dead silent. Great figure though and a boss review!
Yeah, the biceps are a little tight on mine too. Just gotta be careful with them I guess. I little heat might loosen them up thought!

Hey man.. Great review and figure as well... Cant wait to get mine! Ive seen this review like 3 times already jajaja there is something I would like to ask you.. Maybe for the next review could you show us the butterfly joint better.. Let me explain.. I know it moves..but does it really helps to cross his arms.. Or at least to get them closer.. For instance.. Armored vegeta 2.0 has butterfly joint but it doesnt help much because the way the chesr armor is sculpted.. On the other way the range on the gogeta is just amazing.. Thats what I would love to see in future reviews.. Anyways.. Thanks man.. Cant wait waaa

Leg/Arm warmers. The show *WAS* around in the 90's, tail end of the eighties, so we can see wear a little of the times was shown when he was drawn up.

Accurate or not, that new hairsculpt was a great choice by them. It really suits his character. But I still don't understand why the ankles use a double ball peg rather than a hinge.
@Steve Vento Not on all their figures, other lines use a hinge and the trunks figures and the time patroller (trunks legs) uses a hinge. So its not like its a far fetched idea.

I don't know if I'm for it, something just looks off to the design and faces of the character. His boots looks like loafs of bread And the shine on the armor looks more shiny than burters or guldo and. Idk

Great figure thats for sure, however the biggest con imo is the scouter attachement. They should ve made it differently attached to a different hair piece maybe and adapt to the ear. Right now that huge seam on the ear accessories is atrocious.
Yes, if they could improve on that it would make me less nervous about losing that tiny ear piece too.

This is random but did you ever do a review on figure-rise SSJ4 Gogeta??? I know I seen the speed build but was hoping for a review and your thoughts.
I didn’t but I think it’s one of the best FR kits. I was in the middle of customizing it but never got around to finishing it. I might review once it’s finished. It’s a great model kit with som great energy effects and the head sculpt is excellent.

This is definitely the FighterZ color scheme. I looked up his official art from that game and the green is more olive than emerald, and the armor is shiny.

Bardock doesn't mean that much to me, so I'll pass this one. Next on my list will be Recoome! But the figure looks great and it's cool they made a new body sculpt. Great review as always!
I just ordered him from Amazon and i was supposed to get him today but there was a delay on delivery. I rescheduled for tomorrow. I hope get him tomorrow. Amazon is pissing me off. They was trying to deliver him on the 25 and i said hell no

The qc on mine is okay the hand peg are loose and stressed out as soon as I took him out of the box

Any issues with the joints? People are saying the neck peg broke and that the figure is super tight compared to previous releases.
I know JP had issues with his but so far so good for mine. Just if you try to remove the head, I would heat it up first. It’s on there pretty tight.
