Wow what a charming video. The person who made this has potential. I sure hope he doesn't go completely insane after having his home invaded by an entity whose shape was snatched and a lime colored Ojama.
Vassal is basically a victim of the early Gravekeepers not really knowing what they wanted to be. There were elements of swarm (Spy and Commandant), offense (Spear Soldier and Assailant), and defense (Charm of Shabti, Guard, Watcher). And Vassal is actually one of the more supported examples - both Cannonholder and Servant also had Burn effects. Then everyone sane realized that Gravekeeper Burn was about as powerful as flicking rubber bands at the opponent, and they decided to focus full-time on swarm and anti-meta.
He does have a use in duel links in farming decks, since you can use Secret Pass to the Treasures to let him attack directly, then use his effect to bypass Union Attack's limitation (no battle damage). This also gives you bonus points for winning with only effect damage. He is also uncomfortably similar to a jewish stereotype.
There's a reason for why Blackwings have so many awful support. See, the initial four or five Blackwings were designed to be used by a villain in the anime, so they were pretty strong and self-contained. Then Konami thought the archetype had potential, so they made the anime writers rewrite the villain into a main character. And suddenly, they had to take what had been designed as a small sleek set of OTKers into the Deck of a guy who was expected to duel every few weeks and usually be on the losing side for most of the game before he did a dramatic turnaround. Also, they had an edict to introduce a few new cards in every episode. So instead of having that character just Gale/Sirocco for 10,000 damage in every duel, they made up a ton of really shitty unfocused support cards, and made his ace card Black-Winged Dragon. And all for naught, as the aforementioned character turned out to be really unpopular because he didn't have any personality or reason for being there aside from shilling out the now-terrible Blackwings.

Love your stuff, but I've gotta point something out as a dedicated GB player: Secutor is the only thing that makes Glad Beasts a legit rogue deck and not trash. Second best monster in the deck next to our favorite Gyzarus.
MarkedFang It's actually not THAT bad of a card, but the fact that it must be Tribute Summoned really slows it down, although we do have ways around this. Cards like Cost Down and Double Summon help a LOT, especially if you're planning to use this on a monster that was Special Summoned from the Extra Deck (except Pendulum $hit).
Welp, this explains why he was cheap. No idea how scraps worked but picked up a load since they looked cool, but no wonder scrap/twin cost like £5 instead of 50p for atomic
Masterof thelag twin and dragon are excellent cards atomic is pretty much a 10 star beat stick that takes 3 monsters. no. i also recommend mixing scrap with metalfoes if your trying for a casual deck with some competitive edge.
Atomic Scrap Dragon really disappointed me. It looked so damn cool and it ended up being pretty blegh. Also pretty entertaining first video. Gonna subscribe to see where this train goes. That sounded pretty lame in my head and it doesn't look any better on paper.
9:23 Warg was released in JOTL, 2 sets before Hare (which you mentioned) and 1 set before Mikazuchi and Kagutsuchi. We pretty much didn't have any other archetype cards which prevented non-targetting destruction effects back then. But i have to agree, even then this card was just bad, Bujingi Wolf was way worse though.
I missed the Fail-Dolphin of shaddolls. El Shaddoll Wendigo has can't do anything useful for shadolls except having a 2800 def booty for protection. Thats something seeing now that Construct is banned but then you could also play Shekinaga ore than once with 3000 def. As much as i loved the almighty Construct and still love my bae Winda i never played the fail dolphin once. I guess the dolphin was the way of Konami saying that it was enough support and time for Shaddoll in the meta.
Hehe, Gravekeeper's Vassal with Union Attack and Secret Pass is a staple for one of many farming decks in Yugioh Duel Links. But yeah, it doesn't help the archetype.
Abrolhos is an island on the northeastern coast of Brazil. It’s a short version for “abre os olhos”, which means “open your eyes”. The LH consonant encounter is pronounced just like the LL consonant encounter in spanish, like “llama”, for example It’s fucked up that when my country gets remembered in the game is on a very bad card
I know this is something you don't like anymore as a vid, but Aliens were meta at one point in time, and I played an interesting build as well that was pretty good while it lasted. First, you have a basic rank 4 engine in the deck, a few assault halberd, goblindbergh, a rescue rabbit, there you go, but when rota went to one, consistency went to none. Anyway, you use this in addition to Alien Warrior and Shocktrooper to rank 4 into Feral Imps, add an ammonite by detaching the alien, next turn you get to use Gol'gar to bounce back continuous spell and traps like Vanity's emptiness and safe zone to lock down and pop multiple things your opponent had. In case of emergency, you had all kinds of options to choose from, like if you could handle it, summon a Trish with a level 4 in play and an ammonite in play, or Mist Wurm, level 5 syncs, a few rank 4s, (Exciton saved this deck some games, RIP. It died hard) and there you go. Saw this stuff made by a guy who went to a regionals with great success and tried it myself... RIP.
It is, but now that aliens are getting new support... FUCK YEAH THEY ARE COMING BACK. I know they are getting more than one new card. They have to. I tried doing card of demise and Kaiju with them, now with all kinds of ideas, when all possible support is out, I'm going to do everything I can to make them back to the anti-meta deck they once were... Twice.
What is even the use of gravekeepers vassal? Why would it matter that he does effect dmg instead of battle dmg? He still has to declare an atk so any battle traps aso would still be usable. He only gets around cards that specifically mention battle dmg. Which there aren't many of and even that isnt a benefit to you playing him. I mean it would work with some burn cards that deal dmg when your opponent takes dmg but thats it.
Even if Gravekeeper's Vassal could attack directly, it would still not be worth using. Any way I can think of to beef it up would still not help the archetype it's supposed to belong. Royal Knight of the Ice Barrier would be a lot more useful if it triggered from just normal summon, or any kind of summon, and if the token also disallowed use as material for an Extra Deck summon. I made a custom Errata of the card to do just that. Still doesn't help the archetype, but at least it can function as a beater by giving opponent a weak target for you to stab at for some damage. Blackwing - Abrolhos the Megaquake may not be useful for Blackwings, but it is good for a deck revolving around Reverse Trap.
The only real use I can think of for Vassal is in combination with Dark Room of Nightmare, but keeping this guy alive, while playing focused beatdown with Gravekeepers while also having at least one Room on the field (and to make this combo work, you're going to probably need three of them in the deck) is baffling.
Actually, as a Scrap player myself (a pretty good one I think?), I can say Atomic was actually pretty good, not for it's shuffling 3 from the grave into the deck (which is OK, better than nothing), but for being a 3200 beater that can blow up your cards, triggering Factory and if you popped a Scrap, its effect. Then again, you could just do the same thing with normal Scrap Dragon and Twin, but it was really the extra attack that made it good...ish. Personally, I think that Scrap Recycler should have taken its place, doesn't pop anything, just recycles Earth machines, which would be fine BUT ONLY 4 SCRAPS INCLUDING RECLYCLER ITSELF ARE MACHINE. I think it did better in other decks that in did Scrap.
I think Scrap crash is the worst Scrap cards because it is Anti-Synergistic against Factory(which should always be up if possible),Scrap Lube if that's your kind of Card and if you need draws Goblin supply squad. And also it only destroys *Face-up Traps and Spells*
RandomGerman Guy Actually, I find siding a Scrap Crash or 2 is OK. For the moments when you don't have Factory, it's OK to tech in and use some times. However, Twin Twisters or MST works so much better, and I normally find myself running an MST instead of Scrap Crash. Scrap Lube is OK as a 1 off in the main deck or side deck, since if Lube is removed from the field, their effects still trigger since they activate in the Graveyard and Scrap Lube is indeed a Scrap card. I still believe that Scrap Recycler is the worst Scrap card, it synergises with only 4 of the Scrap monsters (itself being one of them) and none of the Machine Scrap monsters are any good (except Scrap Breaker as a side deck card and maybe a single Scrap Mind Reader). Either way, while Crash and Lube aren't the best Scrap support. Please tell me you agree when I say that Atomic Scrap Dragon is a decent Scrap card.
Drew Armstrong, The Glorious Lobster Emperor I have Atomic twice in the extra Deck when i need the Beatstick or just want to get some of the monsters of the field (i almost always use either Golem+Lv 4 Tuner+Searcher and sometimes Worm+2 Chimeras/Sharks) Also the spinning+Destroying is VERY good against Dragon/Zombie decks that profit from monsters in the grave
Surprised harpie girl isn't on here. She's a vanilla level 2 that isn't even a tuner. Pretty sure she was just created as booster pack filler because she does virtually nothing for harpies. Other than being searchable with histeric sign and channeler, and even then she's useless once she hits the field.
I don't know why I never finished the video before, but Atomic Scrap Dragon? Yeah it's underwhelming, but it's not like the destruction is a real cost, they've had pretty good swarming ever since scrap factory, and going after the graveyard is sometimes really devastating (going for 3 at once pushes it into the ok category for its investment). Meanwhile I feel like Leo got worse. EDIT: I don't know why Ancient Gear Box wasn't an honorable mention or something. That thing was an INSULT at the time of its release.
You know, based on the name of the token, I think Royal Knight's token was supposed to do more, but the same psycho intern responsible for Batteryman C and Chronomaly Mayan Machine erased a chunk of his effect and nerfed his stats.
How to fix Garadholg for its time? Add an extra 0 to its effect. If it gained 2000 ATK vs Light mons, it'd be playable in the same way Cipher Soldier is...a potential sideboard card in certain metas...a least years ago when it came out.
People would never believe the incredible meme that would be Royal Knight, from Rata's very video to being the gold standard for shitty cards he refers back to every time.
I think that also flamvell magician is strange: you have to have at least one monster "ally of the justice"( archetype that with flamvell i good as a bottle of poison rat) just to raise his ATK of 400 points...simply lame
Madolche Puddingcess Chocolat-a-la-Mode is also pretty bad. Specificly requiring a Puddingcess for her detach effect, a mediocre effect that is accomplished by literally every Madolche monster's effect as well as their staple field spell and a detachment effect that does nothing of value for the archetype, despite keeping with the theme. If you want to cycle back into your deck, Tiaramisu works significantly better.
batteryman c. it supports machines in an archetype of all thunder monsters. and even at that you have to get a lot of them out quickly to mean anything
That Mermail whale thing, can it be normal summoned, or do you have to use that painful special summon condition? (because at least for me an important thing about special summoning is that you still have a normal summon, which you can't use if you've milled all the monsters in your hand)
atomic scrap is good against milling decks returning something like rainbow kuriboh or that one monster that ends your battle phase or even fairytail snow etc
Gravekeeper's Vassal is a weird way to get arround the effects of cards like Spell Wall and Brave Attack/Union Attack(don't remember which) that say you can't cause your opponent to take Battle Damage because it's Effect Damage, not Battle Damage.
It‘s Union Attack. Only one monster can attack but it gets the combined attack stats of all your monsters on your side of the field. It‘s pretty useful in Duel Links.
6:48 You can actually do that. You just need to make sure that there is no voltage in any part and you gotta let it dry out. Oh, and pray that you have no bad parts, which could otherwise corrode very easily.
You forgott the Cyberdark Dragons. Its not only the quality of the Cards, this mini Archetype will force me too play Dragons in a Deck what have nothing too do whit Dragons.
The one that seems odd here is Garadholg since it matches the archetype pretty well. Yes it's weak but isn't this video about cards that don't support their archetype?
So for your number 10, I might disagree. We all know that allys of justice as a whole suck, but ally of justice garadholg supports the archetype fighting light monsters. The worst Ally of justice support is reverse break, because it does the EXACT opposite of the deck. At least Garadholg fights light, even if it is shit.
chronomaly Mayan machine should had have been at least a dishonorable mention ( for one there is only like two machine monsters in that archetype both level 4 and there are no chronomaly monsters that require two tributes so completely useless you tech in a generic level 7+ machine but why would you )
Wow what a charming video. The person who made this has potential. I sure hope he doesn't go completely insane after having his home invaded by an entity whose shape was snatched and a lime colored Ojama.

Actually, I find siding a Scrap Crash or 2 is OK.
Drew Armstrong, The Glorious Lobster Emperor I have Atomic twice in the extra Deck when i need the Beatstick or just want to get some of the monsters of the field (i almost always use either Golem+Lv 4 Tuner+Searcher and sometimes Worm+2 Chimeras/Sharks)
Also the spinning+Destroying is VERY good against Dragon/Zombie decks that profit from monsters in the grave
RandomGerman Guy
You know, I couldn't agree more with anything you said just then. Atomic is a really good card, not the best, but really good.
Bastion theme at 9:00, love it
Surprised harpie girl isn't on here. She's a vanilla level 2 that isn't even a tuner. Pretty sure she was just created as booster pack filler because she does virtually nothing for harpies. Other than being searchable with histeric sign and channeler, and even then she's useless once she hits the field.
She's not support. As a Normal Monster with no effect, she doesn't count.
Bastion soundtrack
What was that amazing back ground music that played while he was talking about failwhale?
You know, based on the name of the token, I think Royal Knight's token was supposed to do more, but the same psycho intern responsible for Batteryman C and Chronomaly Mayan Machine erased a chunk of his effect and nerfed his stats.
How to fix Garadholg for its time? Add an extra 0 to its effect. If it gained 2000 ATK vs Light mons, it'd be playable in the same way Cipher Soldier is...a potential sideboard card in certain metas...a least years ago when it came out.
Saw this pop up in my feed 6 years later :)
its weird that most of these cards are a must have in duel links
People would never believe the incredible meme that would be Royal Knight, from Rata's very video to being the gold standard for shitty cards he refers back to every time.
YAYYYYY YUMENIKKI MUSIC :3
Play Brilliant Fusion (like all good dolche decks) and she is the best ever.
Yeah, I was made aware that both Puddingcess and Chocolat-ala-mode are run in modern Madolche decks because Brilliant Fusion and Gem Knights
batteryman c. it supports machines in an archetype of all thunder monsters. and even at that you have to get a lot of them out quickly to mean anything
We need some updated top 10 lists. May have to change them to top 20s at this point
That Mermail whale thing, can it be normal summoned, or do you have to use that painful special summon condition? (because at least for me an important thing about special summoning is that you still have a normal summon, which you can't use if you've milled all the monsters in your hand)
Lonly Wanderer You can normal summon it but it doesn't get its effect so it's not worth it.
Lewis Muir Okay, thanks.
would be nice to have a deck base around the effect of gravekeeper's vassal i bet theres alot of cards that need effect dmg to trigger
should have mentioned some of the weird cards that the 6th samurai have in their set, some really bizarre spell and traps
Why is an Alien monster an Earth attribute?
atomic scrap is good against milling decks returning something like rainbow kuriboh or that one monster that ends your battle phase or even fairytail snow etc
I'd never heard of Rib Gardna before, and I laughed out loud when I saw it.
At what scene could we potentially see shapesnatch or the one who's shape bin snatched
Yo... Blasting Fuse is fantastic in Yang Zing
You forgott the Cyberdark Dragons. Its not only the quality of the Cards, this mini Archetype will force me too play Dragons in a Deck what have nothing too do whit Dragons.
Laughs in vassal Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel links farming decks
Dishonorable mention for Blackwings: Blackwing -- Silverwind the Ascendant. So bad.
Speaking of Battlin' Boxers, is Number (C)80 good for that kind of deck?
Number 80 is basically worse D.D. Crow, and C80 isn't much better
The one that seems odd here is Garadholg since it matches the archetype pretty well. Yes it's weak but isn't this video about cards that don't support their archetype?
Yeah, Garadholg is kind of an insider.. you´ll see him appear in a couple of more videos.
I hear you walk like an Egyptian must resist urge to rewatch jojo
So for your number 10, I might disagree. We all know that allys of justice as a whole suck, but ally of justice garadholg supports the archetype fighting light monsters. The worst Ally of justice support is reverse break, because it does the EXACT opposite of the deck. At least Garadholg fights light, even if it is shit.
what's the name of the card that's set as your background by the way
Am I the only one who realized that some of the music from this if from the game bastion...and that game has beautiful music
chronomaly Mayan machine should had have been at least a dishonorable mention ( for one there is only like two machine monsters in that archetype both level 4 and there are no chronomaly monsters that require two tributes so completely useless you tech in a generic level 7+ machine but why would you )
0:37 is that 8-bit jojo music in the background
its a song called Walk Like An Egyptian................
