Tinny camping the Great Sandy Straits - Living from a 4m boat 🚤 Hunting for big lizards 🦎 🎣

  • In this video I'm on a tinny fishing and camping trip in the Great Sandy Straits. I do some fishing with a mate for some flathead and we both end up catching some nice fish. I then explore some of the creeks of Fraser Island and cook up a flathead in the boat. I get attacked by some of the worst sandflies you can imagine but its all worth it. Its amazing the adventure you can have in a small boat.

    Great video and awesome flats mate! A mate and I are heading over to Garrys Achorage for a couple of nights at the end of April. Putting in at Boonooroo. I don't know the area at all and woukd love to pick your brains to get some banks to spend plenty of time flicking. Looks like there is no shortage of ground which can be hard sometimes having too much choice and not concentrating time at the right spots.

    Hi Shannon.
    Mate, I love the look of those beer battered fish cakes you make.
    Can I ask what type of oil do you cook them in?
    They come up really nice.
    Id like to have a crack at making them too, just on the off chance I actually catch a fish. 😄👍🐟🐟🐟🐟

    • @AusAdventure
      @AusAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mate I usually take canola oil. Then the batter is just cold beer and self raising flour. Some time I might have some salt and pepper and a little bit of curry powder in it too. Super easy.

    Grate video content mate. Haven't had a chance to get out this week due to the rain and windy down here in South Tas. keep the good videos comming mate..
    And Just wondering mater how many hp have you got on the back mate..
    And a quick question for you or anyone who can answer it for me. As I'm new to all this boating stuff.
    And would you recommend a 15 ft DeHavilland Tinny with a Mercury 15hp for off shore fishing?

    • @AusAdventure
      @AusAdventure  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers mate and thanks for watching my vids. My engine is a 30hp so a 15hp on a 15ft boat would be a little under powered to me. I would have also thought being from Tassie you would want a bigger boat than that as you have some serious ocean down there.

    • @tassiesouthernboatingfishi1811
      @tassiesouthernboatingfishi1811 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers mate, yeah it's a little under power as only getting 30-35km/ph in speed wise, but the areas I'm looking at fishing the boat suits. But if I was to go out any deeper I would definitely need to upgrade Boat and motor wise..
      I'm looking into upgrading to a 25/30/40hp
      Evinrude/Yamaha/Johnson or another Mercury or maybe Honda.
      My boat can't take anything over a 45hp and is recommended to a 35hp
      Just thought I would get some advice.. Before I make the leap.
      Cheers heaps mate...
      And keep the grate vids comming in. As I do injoy watching them. As you have gave me some ideas and enthusiasm to get back out on the water myself. 🤠
