I need to check these guys out. Another solid gear recommendation from the man. I swear you've sold me on more gear than any other channel on TH-cam, I own a Mesa Mark IV, DSL 50, Mesa 2x12, and now I'm looking at a PRS.
Stellar demo and playing! That amp hits the checkmarks for all needed features. It sounds like Marshall and Mesa had a baby who grew up into this beast. What a tone monster!
Awesome demo as always! And thanks a lot for introducing Headfirst, I immediately subscribbed to his channel, he seem to offer an answer for every technical questions I ever had! It's people like you guys that make youtube amazing! Cheers!
Sounds awesome, Leon. Gotta love a homegrown Oz built amp. I’d drop coin on this. Kudos to M.I. Amplification also. Still loving my M.I. Iron Duke and Megalith Gamma
Amp sounds fantastic and super flexible! Man so many great options out there today! Surprised you didn't try it with a boost but to my ears, with the different clipping options, it didn't even need it! Great job Jason! 👍
IMO this might be the best sounding tube amp you’ve had on here. I wish they were in the US 😭 I had my local amp tech install a switch on the back of my mojotone 2204 clone that removes the negative feedback from the power amp. Makes it punchier, louder, nastier and literally a different sounding amp. I’m shocked my amp builders aren’t doing this.....it’s like a simple $60 mod.
Awesome! I have a few more connections to solder on mine and hopefully it will be up and running. I also have a headfirst 2204 that I'm adding the J.E.L. type mods to it. Seriously fun stuff
Thanks Leon. I have ordered the PCB from Jason and hope to get it built later on in the year. Really appreciate hearing this amp again.did you use a load box to record this.
If I was to buy a physical head, it would be something like this. With the move to software amps I'm hoping eventually someone brings something out where you can completely build your own circuits.
Great as usual; Would like to know the difference to the molecular. Okay it has more options and 2nd master. But who has the tighter Atomica sound? Greets from germany;
Getting ready to pull the trigger on one of the boards for this. Can you tell me what actually gets switched when you foot switch the Master volumes? Would you know if or what follows the switching besides or along with the Master volumes? thanks, that would be very helpful.
Sounds great brother! Keep em coming 😎🤙🤘 was considering a trade. Got a guy interested in my Mesa quad paired with a Mesa 295. He’s offering up a 1979 Marshall JMP 2204. What’re your thoughts? I tend to gravitate more towards the GnR/Slash thing.
@@LeonTodd I know it’s a hard decision. I LOVE Mesa boogies, both mark and recto. I keep flip flopping between Marshall and Mesa. In the end I think I’m more of a Marshall type player, but I still love the Mesa thing. Wish I could afford to keep gear instead of trading. Tempted to get the 2204 and do a switchable SIR #34 mod to it. As far as I know all that’s been modded on the 2204 is an added effects loop.
Sounds great, however..... it's nothing original. Is there really a market for another Marshall knockoff? Seems like the market is over saturated. Who's buying 50 watt amps these days? What a time to try to sell an amp with Covid virus going on. I hope they can make it.
Thank you Leon, you're a champion mate. I really appreciate the feature. The amp sounds great in your hands!
Thankyou for helping make this happen! I can see one of these in my future.
Hi jason, do you have a working agreement with dave friedman? Cool amps
Thank you Leon! 🙏
I’m realllllly loving this amp! What’s the ballpark pricing to get one of these sent to US?
Or is there a US dealer?
Headfirst Amplification has some amazing amps and amazing mod kits. Great channel too. Good on you for showcasing this Leon!

GAS is seriously contagious
Yay! Another modded marshall tone! Really into this stuff lately. And it's Aussie! And it's white. Wonderful stuff
Just when you thought you didn't need more modded Marshall amps, you hear another one :p
Who needs a marshall. That thing has some killer features and sounds great! Very cool. You explain features great my friend!!!
Hope all is well sir!!!
Wow! Right out of the gate, tone machine. And dude, that guitar sounds sooo good.
Really happy that you give a shot on Headfirst amps. Following him since a moment now and really appreciate his stuff !

He not only builds great amps, he's a pretty good player too. ✌️🇦🇺
Sounds like 🔥, and looks great in white!
Sounds INCREDIBLE! Seriously fine.
Awesome honest review with no trickery. Loved it. Thanks for the run down on all the clipping options.
Breaking the chains!!🔥Amp sounds killer!
Man I wish we lived closer so I could hear you fired up through this!
@@LeonTodd Dude that would be awesome! 🤘🏻
WOW what a great sounding amp! Love all the King's X Riffage!
It's good when the kings X leaks out!
Well done LT! Thanks Jason and Headfirst! Cool Amp! Thanks for sharing brother and Be Well All!
Thanks! You too!
thanks as always for the great content and its good to hear this amp put through its paces - I'm a fan of Jason's work as well
my favourite has to be the strat tone. just epic. reminds me of faith no more, reef, etc. lovely amp.
Very nice demo! Great playing Leon, you definitely got that 80's feel nailed!
Thanks a lot!
Always a good start to my Saturday here in Canada. Really enjoying the content mate
Sounds really good. Love saturation.
Sounds amazing! I like that its not afraid to bite. Most amps today are too smooth and nice. This one rocks!
pure rock n roll firebreather. very nice
Sounds killer. Great demo!
Sounds awesome, Leon. Gotta love a homegrown Oz built amp. I’d drop coin on this. Kudos to M.I. Amplification also. Still loving my M.I. Iron Duke and Megalith Gamma
yeah there's not many Aussie builders but the ones who do build are GREAT
Really great thorough video coverage on this amp by the way. You really know how to exploit the possibilities of an amp like this! Thank you.
Those tones!!! You've already sold me an Axe Fx III, but if I ever buy another amp this would probably be it. Really good price too.
Amp sounds fantastic and super flexible! Man so many great options out there today! Surprised you didn't try it with a boost but to my ears, with the different clipping options, it didn't even need it! Great job Jason! 👍
YES! Great! I’ve been looking forward to this since I first mentioned him on here.
You helped make magic happen!
Man that amp sounds gorgeous, but so do your fingers!!

Oooh, this amp . That tone is me, all day every day. Carpal tunnel here I come.
This could be taken a couple ways 🤣🤣🤣
sounds phenomenal
You are a crunch machine! You are the Night Rider!
Awesome! I have a few more connections to solder on mine and hopefully it will be up and running. I also have a headfirst 2204 that I'm adding the J.E.L. type mods to it. Seriously fun stuff
Very cool! keen to hear how you like it when done.
Sweet! Wondered when you were going to get one of Jason's amps. I have a Headfirst MCII. The tone is like an angel kicking you in the guts.
Dayyyyum that must be fun!
Love Headfirst Amps. I have to have One.
Wish I could have bought this 30 years ago~
Thanks Leon, that was great! The strat sounded so FILTHY in a great way...Nice!
Has that big open "CHONK" thing going on
Man i love that amp its sounds so good! So many tones you can it out if it. I want one so bad!
Killer amp.
That’s a tone machine right there.
👍 always a pleasure
A Beast...
Sounds great! You should shoot this out with the Ceriatone!! I'd be curious to hear the differences...or similarities! 👍

Chunky sound, very like Friedman" :)
Very nice m8 what tuning you in?
Do you think I should ask Nik at Ceriatone to add the mods on this Cali to the Molecular I’m about to order?
whats the riff at 7:13?
"Over My Head" by King's X
@LeonTodd In the background there is a guitar with the Steve Vai monkey grip. What is it can we see it in a future video? "D"

Great as usual; Would like to know the difference to the molecular. Okay it has more options and 2nd master. But who has the tighter Atomica sound? Greets from germany;
The Molecular is an Atomica with a few extra options. This is more CCV style
Man that amp is so killer....where the hell do I buy one? Jason rocks......that thing just sounds great.
Hello from Paris.
Can you captured that amp on Axe fx iii . It will be cool.
Sounds great.
Cameron CCV2A!
@@LeonToddexactly! In fact I have already done an A/B test of the Cali against that CCV model on my TH-cam.
jason makes great amps,...wish i could go down there to pick one up, ...its a long way from l.a........
Please do a demo with MI Audio!!!!!
Correct, Scorpions-Love At First Sting!! Every song on that album is great!!
Ooooooooh.
Stop feeding my GAS! 😂
Sounds amazing! Please review the new Alta 100 from Headfirst!
Hopefully soon!
@@LeonTodd nice!
This may be the first review of a Jose mod style amp without a single VH riff. Lol!
Is it pretty quiet (compared to other similar high gain amps) ?
Getting ready to pull the trigger on one of the boards for this. Can you tell me what actually gets switched when you foot switch the Master volumes? Would you know if or what follows the switching besides or along with the Master volumes? thanks, that would be very helpful.
I don't but I'm sure Jason will get back to you quickly if you email him directly
@@LeonTodd Thanks Leon!
hi leon great video as usual !!
tell me how much does an amp head like this cost? thank you
Musically !

Oooh that's tough - the quad/295 is a beast of a rig but a good late 70's JMP (my friend owns one) is a thing to behold!

Hey cool, a Fortin Cali review! Oh, wait...
What killer amp!!! Michael Nielsen and you are not healty for me...
Looks like a Friedman BE-50
has that "Marshall in its Sunday finest" thing going on
Australian Friedman BE.
Completely different circuit, this is a pre tone stack master José.
Looks like a rebranded Chupacabra or Yeti.
My Molecular is down at my friend's studio at the moment, if I get time I'll go grab it and compare them.
This is a two channel footswitchable Jose, the Chupa/Yeti's are single channel.
Sounds great, however..... it's nothing original. Is there really a market for another Marshall knockoff? Seems like the market is over saturated.
Who's buying 50 watt amps these days? What a time to try to sell an amp with Covid virus going on. I hope they can make it.
Buy crap rich people make, sounds just like the other one lol.
Another one trick pony! with a massive price tag..$$$$
