I watched these videos when they first came out. I have improved tremendously on Marvin's concepts a lot since then. It's as he says, when it clicks it just clicks and it becomes a moment of self discovery, a self taught thing, granted marvin planted that seed. What I learned is one can only guide a horse to the water, it's up to the horse to know how to drink it. Now when I watch Marvin's videos, I get another layer of learning that maybe I hadn't before. This man truly broke this shit down to a science the best way out of any other boxing figure. Although I also learned that there isnt a physical true stance, or there isnt a definite thing that you need to stick to or else you're wrong. The true stance is really just a fundamental idea, and once you get it you can finally let yourself explore from there.
Marvin teaches balance a lot, and he encourages one to not sacrifice balance to chase a shot, for instance dashing in head before lead foot or over reaching for your punch. He says if an opponent sees this, of they maintain their true stance they can capitalize on you very easily. Which has been the story of my sparring sessions haha. Because I'm usually faster and more skilled (skilled but not experienced, so skills go out the window haha) my opponent stays distanced and just usually picks me off as I over reach or over dash just to cut the distance. It's hard for me to make extra adjustments coming in because my body is already committed to a certain movent already. But I found the more I can dash in with my feet properly beneath me I have more "extra" moves I can access if necessary whether that is more slips, or whatever.

I love these lessons but I can't help thinking how funny it would be if Marvin was actually shit at boxing and this was all an act.

@@ryanbaileyboxingi get what you are saying bro. You are basically saying that once you learn the basics/ fundamentals of boxing it's always room for improvement or getting better. A guy who coaches at a boxing gym saw me working out yesterday and told me I should box. I've never boxed a day in my life but I'm considering it. I'm a lil nervous but I'm doing my research before I walk into the gym so I can be a step ahead of the game.
