Regarding Questions: Some questions are very tricky, you need to go through the MVC guidebook thoroughly to answer questions. Read questions properly and answer them. Once your 40 answers are correct the exam stops and you are done. Regarding License Transfer Process : Yes they check your Indian license in the system, it will take atleast 3-4 hrs max for 1 day process including knowledge test. I had a drivers licence from Bangalore and my name in the license was exactly the same as my passport. People have been rejected for slight differences in name is what I have heard. I booked an appointment for the initial permit only and asked if i could take the knowledge test which they agreed to. Post that, they check your india driving licence and if everything matches, you get your license granted on the same day :)

@@PratishandBhavika - Hey Guys, I am hearing that we can not transfer our Indian DL to New Jersey. DMV folks are putting everyone on road test instead of giving driving permit post knowledge test. What did you mentioned to DMV guy, that he skipped your road test ?

As soon you move into the apartment you will need to start your utilities, and I guess the billing cycle is 10th of every month(atleast for me) so I got my first bill in 10 days of moving

You can request them to allow you to give the knowledge test on the same day as initial test and yes class D if for a car
