I just watched the movie again recently.
They really were able to capture the struggle Jeff must have been feeling regarding the pride his family felt and the "Boston Strong" community as a whole and yet he himself was experiencing pain and struggle just trying to accomplish simple ordinary everyday tasks.
I think it was easy for people around him to forget how Jeff encountered serious difficulties and it was all brand new territory for him.
Trying to come to grips with losing his limbs and trying to make sense of the horrible tragedy of the day.
I'm sure he got to a point that he didn't want to hear, "Boston Strong" anymore. That's far too large for any one man to take on.
The movie is absolutely great at capturing those internal struggles Jeff must have been feeling.
Having to deal with all the self-centered idiots who automatically assigned all their politics and world-view(s)on him. Demanding photos and time and another piece of his soul.
Jake Gyllenhall is quite possibly the best actor on the screen today. Every movie he does, I can't wait to watch his performance.
He is right there with Di Caprio, Oldman, Phoenix and Downey, Jr.

I love you my older brother. I really hope you know how. You always pushed me in hockey, you were just a kid in highschool talking to coaches and scouts. You single handedly got me recognition. You always helped me improve on our back yard rink. Baseball was YOUR sport and you never treated it that way,you pushed me and Alan to be better then you. And you did the same with musical instruments. I'd be nothing with you Jeff. I know you live in mass and I live in NH and we're doing the family thing and I never see you but I'll always be your little brother and I'll always look up to you. I love you
